Can a catholic be a member of the brown scapular and still join the Secular Franciscan Order?

Great question! Yes! You can often see the straps of my Brown Scapular in the videos. We are allowed to join most Associations of Lay Faithful, but may not join another Third Order or another Franciscan group. That last one is a bit unclear as many in leadership are members of FAN and the Franciscan Family group.

Ah, you’re asking if someone could make a new commentary? It may be in the works. I hear a new edition of the Ritual as well as a new Servant Leadership Guide are coming.

sister, is it possible to become a member of third secular only if you take admission before 14 years of age?

The Leonine Rule allowed for formation to begin at age 14. I am not sure if any Third Order allows that now, but many of the groups sponsor Franciscan youth clubs. Often called “YouFra” you should contact your area regional minister for more information. Call 1-800-Francis in the USA for contact information.
