I think the issue with being a Christian and doing a collaboration with a secular artist isn’t so much the Christian artist being influenced, (although that should be a concern) but more so the contribution to millions of minds being diluted with content that is contrary to God and His will. Our art should reflect the fruit of the spirit and not the works of the flesh. I agree that there are definitely opportunities to be a witness to the individual artist, but that opportunity shouldn’t be at the expense of the even greater opportunity of staying true to Godly character and not dealing out content that push people further away from the God, who commands all to turn away from the very things that are being encouraged through the music that we’re giving approval to. “The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent, because he has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed; and of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead."” Acts 17:30-31

The bottom line for me is this. Is the music you are producing, writing, performing, feeding the lust of the flesh, or the fruit of the spirit. Everything secular ain't bad, but if it is promoting stuff that God has a problem with, shouldn't his people have a problem with it too. Being in the world is fine. That is where Jesus wants us to be. Yet He wants us to be kept from the evil one. My struggle with this is that yes, we are to shine light in spaces of darkness, but sometimes I think we help with the spreading of darkness and calling it being light in darkness.

Very well said. Sometimes we use "being a light" to justify and mask compromising our values. Plus, we know we're wrong when we're doing it. We've become so afraid to use the word 'wrong', but it's not opinion based it's the word of God. Jesus was amongst sin, but never engaged or promoted it. We can't be light if we're condoning and promoting things we know are not pleasing to God. What you said was sooo spot on.

That's just not it. CHH is a huge money making Industry and often provides more money than some of the secular stuff, it's facts you can look at interviews from several reach and non reach artists. The WHY is rubbing of the the Values of Christ to others. We live to spread the Good News and the Gospel. One of the best things we can do is spread it to the non-believers aka spread to mainstream. It isn't about the money. It's about spreading God to everyone and letting everybody know Jesus saves.

God bless yall, did I really just hear what the producer said? And looks like one of my favorite artist, Lecrae approves? So Ace Harris said, (paraphrasing) "as a church leader, youth leader, doing Bible studies and also posting up song T.I. featuring Chris Brown called private show...." You can't explain this away bro. That's like a Jew making video promoting the holocaust, or blacks promoting segregation". (S/O Flame & Thisl, I aint Turning Back). Just the basics of the Gospel. Trying to improve upon the plain teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ, is very dangerous. Don't yall know Jesus says, “Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea. Matthew 18:6 Don't over think it. "Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools". Romans 1:22. This is beyond Jesus hanging out with sinners. Producing a video for the secular artists is directly participating in their sin. May God restore us to the basics of His truth. Peace.

Lecrae I love you bro and your music . But I can’t overlook what you said about Jesus not condemning. Jesus did condemn and told people throughout his ministry that they were sinful (wrong). From the beginning of his ministry with “Repent for the kingdom of God is at hand,” to Father forgive them because they know not what they do.” The Gospel call is to repent and believe in Jesus. People have to know they are very wrong to be made right with God. People have to know that what they are doing is evil so they can turn from it to Jesus . I don’t want to argue about a beat or production . I don’t really care about that . So please anyone who is reading this don’t start blasting my comments about nonsense. I think it’s awesome being able to spread truth in dark places and just be a light for Gods glory . However, people in the industry making millions and people who are in the poorest parts of the world need to hear the whole gospel They need to hear they are doing evil and are sinners, (lovingly but truthfully) to be set free from there sin. Rather than be coddled and made to fee comfortable . We (Christians) had to go through it in order to be saved. We (Christians) had to hear the bad news before the good news. That’s why we (Christians) love Jesus so much because he exposed our sin, made us right with God, and freed us from bondage .
@ElenyM5 жыл бұрын
Jesus did not come to condemn anyone. Jesus corrected people but he didn’t condemn and those are not the same thing. “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” John 3:17 We are called to make disciples not to condemn people.
@tonywilliams5045 жыл бұрын
I know you just read John 3:17 but continue to read what he says in just the next verse. Matter fact if you will read the whole chapter to get some context around what Jesus was explaining. John 3:18 says for those who believe in Him (Jesus) is not condemn, but whoever does not believe is what? Condemned already . Why is that person Condemned ? Because he/she has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. Jesus said this in his own words condemning everyone other than those who believe. The thing is this whether I bring it to a persons attention of the truth of there condemnation based of what Jesus meant they are already condemned. BUT THEY CAN BE SAVED BY DOING THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT THEY ARE BEING CONDEMNED FOR, WHICH IS BELIEVING IN JESUS CHRIST . He condemned, he loved, he saved, he freed, he talk about hell and heaven. But don’t say Jesus did not condemn because he surely did. He told the Pharisee nicodemus this. I agree with your point that correcting and condemning is two different things but Jesus accurately and perfect did both. Also, biblically speaking and trying to encourage you to read scripture. Don’t just read parts that are easy to understand read everything to get the context. I know we as human beings can want the easy route but for this convo,context is key.
@tonywilliams5045 жыл бұрын
Indielush Secondly, people don’t have to stay condemned or be on there way to hell. ( Like I assume me and you once were) They can just believe . Jesus explains in detail why people stay condemned rather than be saved. “BECAUSE THEY LOVED THE DARKNESS RATHER THAN THE LIGHT.” How many people say ? “Yea I would believe in Jesus but..... or I’ll repent but ....... or I got my own relationship with God ( who specifically speaking they come up with a God to understands and will justify there sinful behavior. ) Loving the dark is simply why people hate the light, which is the truth of the Gospel.

I think we don't respect the power of music or darkness. Everything nowadays is, it's not that serious, it's just a beat or it's just music or it's just a tattoo or it's just sex. But it's giving a place to the enemy in our lives. This why we struggle so much in this generation because we think we can listen to, watch everything and do what we want and it won't effect our walk with God. We have access to so many resources. We can spread, hear and share the gospel at the click of a button. The church has billionaires, millionaires and prosperous in so many ways. Yet the bible says in the latter days it will be one of the worst times in church history. Lovers of self, money etc.. Lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God. Having a form of godliness but denying the power. So I don't go by what happens in pockets of the body or at my church. I look at the body as whole through the lenses of scripture. We are not in good shape spiritually. The church has comprised and it won't change or get better until judgment comes. I shake my head because we walk in th same pattern as the children of Israel. Idol worshipping these stars. Mixing and following the world. Most people do what's right in their own eyes. New age teachings and philosophies. These are praying times. It's time for narrow road living and I'm first partaker of this truth.

Indielush no your family doesn’t have to change but they should see a change or be able to distinguish something different in you/about you. First of all Jesus condemned our sins, not us. remember the story of the woman who committed adultery and her community wanted to stone her ( in the bible)? Jesus didn't condemn her but told her that her sins are forgiven and she shouldn't sin again. My point is that Jesus didn't come to judge and condemn us, he came to give us peace and show us the right way. We shouldn't judge people because of their actions, we are not God. We don't know what those artists ( the ones who don't make Christian music) we don't know how their relationship is with God. We Christians should help and teach each other knowledge and wisdom, leave the others, God has a plan for them.

I have a question: if someone who is less fortunate asks you for money and you give it to them and they go and buy drugs with that money instead of food or shelter, who’s fault is that? Yours or theirs? God gives gifts without repentance and the wealth of the wicked is held up for the righteous. What you do with your gift to take care of your family is between you and God. What that person does with that material is upon them.

@1:29 how do you blend sacred and secular? Simple. You don't. 2 Corinthians 6:14 Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? Leviticus 10:10 ...And that ye may put difference between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean Ephesians 5:11 Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. James 3:10-12 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be. Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? My brothers and sisters, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.

If it’s a no then for me I’ll have to pass on it. We can sacrifice getting a big pay check over pleasing The Father. That my friends is being Spirit led and not fleshly led. @@kylemanningjcic1333 I understand. But what if that's the only view of Christ these people will see in their life? Sure he can make strictly gospel music or produce for only gospel artists but that's not reaching people who actually need to hear about Jesus, that's just beneficial to those who are already saved. We need people who are mature enough in their faith to step into the darkest of places who won't be influenced but be an influencer to those who don't know Jesus. This kind of task isn't for every believer I suppose because every believer is not strong enough to be in these types of situations or around these types of people for long periods of time without conforming. But I believe God is using HIM in this situation to do exactly what he is doing. Sometimes we as the church try to do things that only cater to the church thinking we're saving souls but we aren't going out and reaching people where they at. Almost any job you take you will be contributing to something evil. Sometimes you don't know sometimes you do. If I pour concrete for a living and get a job to pave a new driveway for a bar, I wouldnt turn them away because of what they do. I would do the job and do it WELL and be a witness to them. No Christians probably ever stepped foot at that bar and told the owner about who Jesus is, and now you get to, and they can't do nothing because you can't leave until u finish lol. I'm just saying make the most out of everything you do. He's a producer, who has clients that aren't Christian and rap about bad things...THATS PERFECT. He's just making the beat. If he was rapping like they were that's different, because now he's doing what they do and that's not good. Hes supposed to stand out. Think about YK Osiris. Lecrae took him under his wing as he was and now YK Osiris is exposing this demonic music industry and has a nice song out right now. I say all that to say, we don't know what they were called to do. I can say they are ones of few who actual get INTO the dark things of this world and try to bring people up. Jesus said go into all the WORLD and spread the gospel. You got to go into some places that others wouldnt to reach people. Just producing christian music ain't gone do nothing but attract Christians. But if these two men keep serving the people they working for, keep honoring them, keep identifying with them, keep loving them, they may just get to know the God they serve. It's all about identifying with people and meeting them where they're at.

@@sayrenee8427 Where In The Bible Did The Disciples And Apostles Use Unbelievers To Minister To The Lost And Encourage The Saints? You Mean To Tell Me That Lecrae Can't Share The Gospel With Producers And Artists If he Doesn't Make Music With Them?
@sayrenee84274 жыл бұрын
@@kylemanningjcic1333 I'm not saying he's using those artists to minister to the lost, I'm saying he's using his gift to be involved with people who are lost instead of only making music for Christians. Like I said it'd be different if he was the one on the beat rapping about all these horrible things but he just makes the beats right? If not then I agree with you completely but if he's using his passion to reach people then why stop that? Those artists may never pick up a bible, never step foot in a church, never turn on Christian music, but they will have the opportunity to be friends and business partners with this producer who is a Christian. If we don't have people like this man going into these demonic industries, then the "world" and the body of Christ will have a big wall between them. Nobody on the worldly side wants to cross over because they have false perceptions of God or they dont want him. Nobody on the Christian side wants to cross over to the worldly side because they think that's "conforming". If mature believers who are strong in their faith and don't give into temptations easily would cross over to their world and identify with them, nonbelievers can see that this "jesus thing" is real and they'll come to the other side. You gotta build relationships with people in some way to win them over

I love Reach Records and have the utmost respect for the artists and the movement. However I do believe mixing secular with sacred is compromise. All throughout Scripture God says and asks “what fellowship does light have with darkness? How can two walk together unless they agree? Don’t touch their filthy things”... and the list goes on. Again, I love the purity of Reach, because the music is at a higher standard than the world (and the music is just better in general, but I’m biased. lol). However, I don’t agree with producing music with secular artists, but perhaps there’s more about the business that I may not understand. But even then, money, business or not, I believe we are to hate what God hates. It’s a narrow road, and I don’t believe God would want us to flirt with the world by going so far as to help create the very content that He hates. Before Christ I was fly girl #1 and I was so wrapped up in a secular hip hop lifestyle like no body’s business, so I get it. However, being on the other side of it, I now recognize that there are only two sides - Kingdom of Heaven and kingdom of darkness. I believe straddling the fence is lukewarmness.

I have read some of the responses, and see some good truth, and good points. As a music fan for many years ( most genres ) , I have heard some good secular songs. Whether it has been encouraging, fun or telling a story. For a Christian to work with a secular artist, one does need to be aware of the song is saying, and how it has been birthed. A song that speaks of casual sex, or murder of course is a no no. Again, the Christian needs to go by their own conviction.

BUT, there should be boundaries and things that we do that Do Not compromise nor pervert our purpose for being here. Some of the music that Ace has produced is against Godly principles, i.e. TI and Chris Brown's private show. So, if we're supposed to represent Christ in our everyday lives, promoting and producing music that goes completely against Godly principles is where the boundaries should be If you consider yourself a follower of Jesus Christ.
