I spent two hours with my Internet provider trying to connect it to my Wi-Fi and it didn’t happen so I’m gonna turn in my second cam thinking that the first time was defective and I have no luck with it so disappointed

Any device like this pretty much requires you to be be sure the security on your own network is set up so that it won’t accept or initiate random connections without requesting explicit permission from the user, with the proper configuration on your own network (not on the device itself) the company in China shouldn’t even be able to see it never mind connect to it. This is true of all devices and even if they did it over an open video stream there’s just as massive flaws in seemingly innocuous devices everywhere. As soon as you connect any device to the internet whether it’s a TV or a thermostat you are adding a potential entry point for random attackers to start trying to poke holes in it (and they do, constantly and usually almost immediately). I really don’t think this is made clear enough with the ongoing push for everything to be online 24/7 and all manufacturers rely too much on non-technical users’ totally valid assumption that it is safe. Not a criticism of your review but CCTV is imo a good example of where the awareness of how people should be insisting any connections they are sold are set securely (and not as an extra charge added on top which is depressing to see happen).

​@@JDMaya Even in the best possible case: if the camera is phoning home to the manufacturer, the manufacturer will have access to it almost regardless of how your network is configured. The same is true of virtually all "smart" home/IoT devices. Everything from the TV to the fridge.

Hi. Was about to order this camera and stumbled upon a UK article dated July 2021 from reputed Which magazine, highlighting that iegeek 1080 outdoor camera was easily hacked. This raises alot of concerns for me. I can't find any comment in response from the company. Have you or other viewers faced any issues in this regard? Thank you!
