He made a threat to come to your house and get you. This is recorded. You need to do something to take action, if not direct filed what was done to you, but to get this person off the streets before he does something bad like show up at someone’s house, and attack, rape, or harm them. I live in Tennessee and he doesn’t really have a lot of rights when it comes to citizens arrest. It basically doesn’t exist here with few exceptions

Not sure about your state, but even in California you can detain for misdemeanors as long as you witnessed it. Shopkeepers still do it for shoplifters. BUT you do assume responsibility if you make a false accusation/arrest. But if you are talking about trespass, you must first give the person a notice of trespass and allow them to leave. Paul Blart has put himself, and his company in a very actionable position.

Former security manager here, ten years in the business in the UK. I don't know what f'ed up laws you have in the US, but in the UK (and most modern countries) this guy would have been arrested for false imprisonment and assault. No one, not even a cop, has the legal right to "detain" someone unless there is reasonable grounds to believe they have committed a crime, or they pose a threat to themselves or others. He should not have simply been fired, he should have been charged with false imprisonment and assault. The cop is also a moron and should have to undergo further training to make sure he understands the laws he's supposed to uphold.

I work as a Security officer. Been doing so for many years. In America, anyone working security has no right, no power to detain ANYONE! I'm constantly kicking out trespassers from the job site. Usually the same garbage individuals who already know they're trespassing but don't care. Until challenged. I tell them to leave. I'm professional about it. Property owners want trespassers to leave. They don't want them detained. I tell them they need to go, they go. Let them leave. This guy clearly has no training and doesn't know the law. He's a disgrace and a Wanna-be.
