Sedan-Marsch [German march]

Composed by Carl Lange in 1814 dedicated to Prince Wilhelm (later emperor Wilhelm I). AM II, 106 (AM II, 45a), created in the encampment of the Prussian troops near Sedan, so contrary to popular belief it has nothing to do with the Battle of Sedan.

By the way, did you know that some new developed machine guns from America were stored at that time in the Pariser arsenals.? The French "Kaiser" was probably sure of his victory without these weapons from another continent. Once more America could have helped.! As a matter of fact I Did'nt know this Sedan March!

Good morning Dr Ludwig! The Sedan march is very beautiful. On the other hand, Sedan shouldn't be celebrated by the Germans, because it's the beginning of Germany's defeat. The infection that formed in France after Sedan led to the First World War. But I know that it's extremely difficult to make the Germans understand that they must dissociate Sedan from German unification and the splendor of the Belle-Epoque (if I say anything else YT immediately blocks it). The brilliance of the Belle Époque in Germany is due to the Kaiser, not to the Franco-Prussian war. Emperor Wilhelm II understood that true conquest is achieved with splendor and not through war and destruction. Strasbourg is the most emblematic example for that.
