Please could you do a video showing how to align multiple 5x30 Dominos in the end of a strip with the middle of some MDF/Ply? EG if you had a 2x4 (CLS) and wanted to put four Dominos into the end and then make four matching holes in the middle of an MDF board?

Wow! That is spookily great timing Sedge. Having been using the domino for a few years now, I have never had occasion to use the vertical post fitting function. But coincidentally, I am about to get into a project where that would be super useful. Thank you once again for a very clear and useful explanation. Keep up the great work. 👍🏻

Sedge, what's the recommended way to do two dominos on smaller stock boxes, say 2.5" deep side walls. The alignment pins put the dominoes too far to one side or the other, but a smaller single domino allows too much twisting/racking. Thoughts?
@sedgetool Жыл бұрын
I would simply measure and mark and work off of center line....

Just picked up a Domino last week and this video (and all of your other videos) are the best instruction manual I could ask for. One question for you: when testing the vertical plunge demoed in this video, the domino tends to move/shake around right when I turn it on, taking it out of alignment. I didnt see this happen to you. Are you just applying a ton of pressure on the back plate to keep it in place, or am I just an unlucky beginner?
@sedgetool11 ай бұрын
I just put adequate pressure ....

Traditionally, corner joints, such as for cabinet doors, would include a haunch in addition to the main tenon. Most demonstrations of domino joinery seem to omit this feature. Why? Is the belief that modern adhesives make them unnecessary?

Great video. I have been struggling with this situation for a year or more. One question, how do you keep the spinning bit from moving the tool when it first hits the wood. This happens to me all the time, especially with the 5mm bit into plywood!! The machine moves just a little bit, which throws off the position of the mortice from the measured point. Thanks and stay safe.
@sedgetool3 жыл бұрын
Good question! The only time I have experienced some slight movement is when I plunged too quick....I put some moderate pressure on the base also !! Thanks.......
@grumpywiseguy59923 жыл бұрын
@@sedgetool Thanks for the reply. This tells me I am doing something wrong. The interesting thing is that I don't have this problem with either the 4mm,6mm, or 8mm bits in plywood. MDF, I have no issues whatsoever. And yes, dominos work just fine in MDF for carcasses. The other usage I have for doiminos is for locking down the location of a piece of wood on a panel. The narrow setting and the pins provide pinpoint accurate placement that I cannot otherwise accomplish with my skill level in joinery. The domino system makes up for my beginning level of experience in woodworking!!

Why is it you often don't do close ups of the work you do? In the end of the video you make the hole for the domino, but you do not shown that it was actually in the center of the lines. You quickly attach the leg with the domino and say good bye. Please show the precision of your work. Don't glance over it.
