Inspite of abolishing the law it must be reviewed by a properly set up committee that which sections are to be retained and which may be abolished, abolishing the entire law will create the chances of threat to the integrity and sovereignty of the state; the concept of criticising the ruling party and any political institutions must be removed instantly

Sedition Law should be more applicable for those political leaders and news media anchors who are able to influence people at large. If an individual common man is saying anything against the government, no public is getting incited, there is no violence, but when same thing is said by any influential political leader or by news channel anchors, it spreads hatred, it spreads violence. So there voice should be controlled.

Sec 124A of IPC is not inconsistent with Article 19.1.(a) as it clearly mentioned that mere advocacy or discussion is not subjected to sedition but provoking public to take action against govt of India or public order is subjected to sedition.

Article 19(2) itself says that freedom of speech and expression is not an absolute freedom and it is subjected to public order...hence problem is not the law problem is its arbitrariness nature in which government used this...hence need is to make a proper guidelines and explicitly put it in words so much that neither integrity of nation is compromise nor the freedom of speech and expression..

I strongly disagree that 124A should go. If a rule is being misused, the correct way forward is not to repeal the section, but to approach the court for justice and set such precedent that nobody misuses any rule.

this is a black law , this should've been scraped by now but this is disturbing to see that despite other country's scrapping of the law , we still have this one in our books & more in practicality . i , also agree that it might be right sometimes to use this law but history is testimony to the fact that govts. worldwide had used this law for their defense only . in my view an amendment should be made to this law adding more peculiar specifications with regard to the crimes
