Nice drumming - Should you have written 16th notes since that's what you are playing?
@lukevogtmusic4 жыл бұрын
Depends on the metronome marking! I opted for tempo=155 so that I could write eighth notes to make it easier to read.
@jjerryjerrold4 жыл бұрын
The tempo doesn’t change the note values. Put if it is easier for you to read and write it wrong, hey, you do you.
@lukevogtmusic4 жыл бұрын
@@jjerryjerrold I definitely understand where you are coming from. The misconception here is that the sound of the parts can be written out correctly or incorrectly. In reality, if a band leader sets the click to 150bpm for this song you can play 8th notes (2 notes per beat)...if the band leader sets the click to 75bpm, you can play 16ths (4 notes per beat) and get the same result. When lining the recording up to a click, I though 155bpm fit the most accurately so I chose to notate the part at 8ths. I also hoped that this would be easier for most people to read even if they didn't have much experience with music notation. Either way you want to write it out, I hope the video was helpful! Happy drumming and God bless (:
@jjaammoo77775 жыл бұрын
Great job transcribing and performing this song! I'm just curious as to why you chose to do it at the 155 bpm 4/4 versus 78 bpm 4/4. Kind of challenging to count 1234 at the 155 bpm speed. Also a little confusing to hear a 2 and 4 snare back beat, yet count all of them as 3. Is this something intentional to write a simpler version of the nice 16th note fills? Thank you for your time!
@jesuatejeda57235 жыл бұрын
jjaammoo7777 Thats mainly to hear the subdivision throughout the song so its a better time keeper.. rather than hearing it at a slower bpm basically gives you that 8th eight note subdivision
@lukevogtmusic5 жыл бұрын
I chose this tempo to make the chart as readable as possible. Lots of 16th beams and even some 32nds in the bridge can make the sheets pretty hard to read. In addition to what @Jesua said, if I was playing with a band on a click I would choose quarter = 155 just make it easier to line things up. All in all both could work, this is just how I heard it! (:

Super solid. Are the drum charts your transcription?
