Was born in Darvel, Ayrshire, Scotland but moved to London, England when I was very little. Remember so vividly going up to visit family and putting a penny on the road and it rolling up hill - the joy of watching that happen has stayed with me for over 50 years. Ayrshire what a beautiful and wonderful place to behold.

The next time you go to the Electric brae take a bottle of water & pour it onto the road & you will see the water running upwards, I've tried it & it works.

We call that in Switzerland a "Lugishtutz", what means a "lying slope", we've got here around a few of them

Sometimes tourists get propelled even more quickly up the brae when locals end up running into the back of them!

I heard of one where child ghosts are supposed to push your car off train tracks, to prevent you from the same fate of their school bus. There's even a claim that if you put flour on the back of your car you'll find little sets of handprints after! Fun legend tripping that is mostly harmless if people do it safely I think.

Long time ago when I was Senior in High School I broke a farm out of the desert that was on a hill. I surveyed the irrigation ditches and fields. After we got the water running my Ag teacher came out to see it. "If I hadn't seen the water running the ditches I would swear you made them going up hill"

This happens on 22 Mine Road in Logan county WV too! Some people say it’s the ghost of Mamie Thurman, and others say it’s just an optical illusion. But either way, it’s still fun to do/see!

I believe it’s actually because of the car center of mass. The Action Lab made this experiment in lower scale and the object up a way steeper hill. Just type “ball up hill”, it will be the first video . Here in Brazil we call these hills “ladeira do amendoim” or “peanut hills”

We have a gravity hill right outside Frederick Maryland! There's a lot of local myths about "civil war ghosts" pushing your car and stuff lol. So you don't have to go all the way to Scotland to experience it

It may be more than an optical illusion. There are more than four volcanic anomalies in a perfect line with this strange road. Two volcanic plugs, one is Edinburgh Castle rock, and both are the same width as the road. Perhaps it is these unknown energies interacting with the human brain. I have a friend who went to that road and couldn't understand what all of the fuss was about, as she could see the road going up or down in the opposite direction most of the rest of us see it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iGquqJ6Ym8-dick
