Was there any working dogs there

It depends on what you consider as working dogs. Most of these dogs were family pets, however some of these dogs have done protection training and are used as guard dogs within the family home. Hope this answers your question.

I thought the UK banned these type of dogs?

No, you are allowed to keep these. The dogs that are banned in the UK are the: Pit bull terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, Fila Braziliero and the XL Bully.
