Or don't you think that the most reason why this case is being aired is due to the "personality" involved? What is Nigeria becoming? The point is, it is too soon for her to be involved in any such activities. So beauty pageant is the only way to rehabilitate her? Why are we so brutal in our mindset. The girl has not been convicted. Should a detainee/accused be put through terrible experience because she is an accused. What happens if someone else is now found guilty of the crime? Will it be possible to return her sanity to normal after being passed through all these harrowing experience? My issue is the timing.In International Women's Day we celebrate female heros and she emerged a winner in connection to that day. Chiding has been convicted of the crime but don't you think, she should be focused more on skill acquisition, educational learnings not beauty contest. Last year was there a beauty contest in prison? Why now? Not all programmes should be allowed in prison. The contest shouldn't have been publicised at all. Do you know they have endangered her life. In the issues of life and death, in my solid opinion, "deserve" doesn't apply. There is simply a case of cause and effect. If the array of decisions taken by the man had led to his death, I don't think "deserve" cuts it. Whatever happened to Nigeria! A murderer (Chidinma) is being crowned a queen and celebrated in prison. An innocent woman (Bamise), boarded a bus to her destination she was murdered in cold blood. It's now obvious to Nigerians that the only suitable punishment for people who commit monstrous crimes in Nigeria is "Capital Punishment" otherwise, we are wasting our time. Innocent girls, women even children are raped and in some cases they are brutally murdered by their rapists. The Nigerian government can only put them in jail. Evan, the billionaire has been sentenced to life imprisonment, he has nothing to lose he is alive, he will be well fed in prison, he will have access to smartphones, his family will pay him visits, he will have access to gym, medical services. But, the families of his victims will only suffer the loss of their loved ones. Nigeria is now a country where the spilling of innocent blood is fun to killers. Nigeria has turned into a country where killers have no victims. It's quite unfortunate. That is exactly what happens in a country where you have irresponsible, unresponsive and careless government.

I think we shouldn't forget that the beauty peagent was in the prison and among prison inmates. It wasn't like they brought her out of prison to contest for the peagent. Though incaserated, but she has the right to partake in prison events especially as it involves other inmates, irrespective of the offence and the timing. What is wrong is not the event but the timing and the publicity given to it. The sensitivity of the people at the receiving end of all of these was not taken into consideration. My heart goes out to Brenda , her children and the whole Ataga family. Nigeria is an insensitive and heartless entity that has no value for human life.
