See your TRUE signal strength on iPhone

You can’t trust signal bars. If you really want to see your cellular signal strength, you have to use the hidden Field Test app.

Awesome tip. Just an obversation though - you keep saying the in video "rcrp0" or "rcrp1"....but I think you meant "rsrp0" or "rsrp1"...might be a little confusing the literal viewer.

My Field Test menu (6sPlus, 12.1.4) menus are different. There are six items on the first page, starting with "Sim Info" and ending with "Neighbor Measurements". None of the sub-menus show "Device Info" or "Serving Cell Meas"

Thank you very much, thanks to you I was able to verify the best settings and get more stable reception without interruptions. Sometimes the highest maximum upload and download speeds are not required. Sufficient but reliable is needed.

Rsrq measures up to 29-37 and rsrp0 is -102 is that good

For people from 2021: I tried to find same options as in video, but it seems that they have changed. So I eventually found them (I think!) For LTE you need to be already connected and then you will see something like : "Connected mode LTE-infrafrequnecy Measu..." Then "Measured Neighbour Cells", wait and numbers 0,1,... will come up. For 3G you need to disable LTE in settings (Mobile Data Options), and then the menu will be different again. You will see "UMTS Cell Environement" -> "Neightbor Cells" -> "UMTS Set" -> 0,1,... will come up. So I am not a pro, but you will see numbers in dBm and for me it seems to work very well as a tool to find a place with better signal.

I'm on 15.1 and this doesn't exactly apply on my SE on Verizon 😞 Under "All Metrics" I do see "neighbor Cell Meas", but tapping that brings up six metrics and values. Inscrutable.

I am surrounded by densely wooded hills and all the cell towers are on the other side of the hills from my house. To get any signal at all, I had invest in an expensive booster and an antenna on my chimney. Even then, only a barely functional signal indoors when standing under the indoor transmitter (none outdoors). With the help of this advice, I was able to twirl my antenna in 8 different compass pointings and select the best. Now I have moderately ok signal strength and can transmit a photo most of the time.

You can tweak the signal strength by shortening cable length and buying better thicker cable than what comes with boosters They are sold using values based on you getting a normal GOOD signal which is stupid and I learned after a bought on for my 1600 sq foot home. I should have bought one double that strength but I just tweaked it as I said and most of the time I get -97dbm and occasionally higher but I can now watch netflix etc on 5g with little effort and talking is no longer a problem. Also if you buy a bigger booster you can split the line and buy another antenna to put outside for your yard. The only internet I have is from my phone and now works pretty good most of the time including normal computer work

Randy Torgerson There used to be a glitch that allowed you to do that but it was patched in iOS 11.

On my iPhone with iOS 14 it showed measured average RSRP but not RSRP0 seemed to just take a one time measurement when I made the call but we could be on a different version of iOS. Or Verizon May only allow one measurement in a certain amount of time?

This is a so called "service code" to access the "debug menu" available to literally any phone and smartphone in the world. Varies on the model and manufacturer only. All you need to know is the service code.

It might be because you were in the beta but you shouldn’t be anymore unless your phone glitched out and got stuck in beta

Beng OEY I noticed from switching to an iPhone from an LG that the amount of signal strength wasn’t as great. Same work place I would have trouble loading pages and sending pictures. Lot of buffering and call drops. iPhone XS. Most places I frequented for years I’ve noticed less service. T-Mobile
