Laura and Aaron, I just wanted to say thank you for consistently posting informative, uplifting videos which I enjoy with my tea before work. I used to watch the news which left me feeling anxious. Now I've been watching Garden Answer for a few years and I feel its really made a difference in my life. Kudos to the two of you! Please give my best to your mom - she is in my thoughts and prayers.

Hi Laura, this may be in the comments somewhere but just in case…. The “Jewels of Opar” (Talinum….) are beautiful. I bought seeds from Floret a few years ago and they have self-seeded every year. I even cut off the seed heads but the seeds just go everywhere!! It doesn’t bother me so I just leave most of them. They’re easily pulled once they pop up in the Spring. I saved seeds not realizing I’d never need to buy the seeds again… I try to incorporate their chartreuse color anywhere I can.. it’s just so beautiful and versatile. If you plant these somewhere they can go wild, they could be a fun filler or ground-cover for you. I love that they’re so versatile and can help to protect the soil until I decide what to do with a certain area. I have several growing well in my gravel patio and walkways too. BTW, I’m in Asheville, NC, Zone 7b… 🌸

So sorry about your Mama breaking her ankle/leg. I just got finished with my second surgery yesterday on my left foot/ankle which was crushed when I fell off the roof cleaning off the moss onto a concrete patio. I pray for her quick, perfect healing! Your videos are such an inspiration to watch in the morning! My wife Amy and I just love watching you first thing! If Aaron is the only person who does your editing, please let him know how much we appreciate his expertise and amount of time it takes to do that in addition to working the farm!!! Laura, your mom is a very special lady, and she's extremely blessed to know how much you all love her. I am praying that her surgery goes smoothly, and her recovery is a speedy one. I know the peaceful feeling of being home when you're in the place where you grew up! For those of us who had wonderful memories as a child growing up in a loving environment, there is a peacefulness felt there. It's a place where you don't have to do any 'adulting' if you don't want to, especially if your siblings are there at the same time! My heart goes out to the children who've never experienced that feeling of being safe and loved at home.

Hi Laura, I have been watching your videos for several years now and each time, I always learn something new ! I enjoyed this seed haul video especially since I am an avid seed starter myself. I use a 2 x 2 inch soil blocker which I know you have touched on before. Like you, I do vegetables and flowers. I have, in the past year, become interested in "cool season" annual and perennial flowers and starting those in the late summer to winter over in my zone 7b. I would love a video on using this method for particular flowers if those are possible in your zone. All my best to your sweet, sweet mother as she recuperates from her injury. (I have a three year old grandson who loves to garden with me. It is such a joy to pass along interest in this most enjoyable hobby. He has recently learned how to cut so now I am teaching him how to deadhead !😊)

A neighbor gave me a lump of spotted bee balm seedlings, only 1/4 inches tall earlier this summer (Washington, DC). I have never dealt with any seedlings before and had none of the materials required( only a city roof deck container gardener). I gulped, thought of your seed starting process, then spent 2 hours separating all those intertwined babies. Planted each one in a plastic egg carton section and put under my one plant light. Nurtured them until a bit larger, then potted them into 3 inch pots. Now transplanted into large pots on roof and growing strong. No blossoms yet. But it’s promising. I would NEVER have attempted this without having watched your calm, informative gardening example. Thank you for making me brave enough to try something out of my comfort zone.
