The whole "Our Elder made us, he lied to us, he betrayed us! We hate him, how dare he!" argument Dux has is a bit ridiculous I feel. The Elder said there's no Eden, and the place they find was definitely no paradise. All it really contained was "The mutants. Guess what? They're mutants!" and they discover the Elder ran away with them instead of doing further experiments. He's protected them and given them relative rights like humans, guided them and helped as he could. Sure he hid their origin, but it's not like he intentionally brought them down for his personal benefit. He gave them sentience and respect befitting of his children, now they're acting like children saying "I hate you!" because Dad wouldn't let him go to Prom.

I disagree. MYZ feels like Pete is basically playing a solved game- there's very little tension about how things are going to go, and I suspect one could use the series as the basis for their own max difficulty no-damage walkthrough if they wished. XCOM really allowed Pete's mastery to shine through because it is so unpredictable and he was forced to adapt to changing circumstances.
