Love these videos!!! They're so helpful. I try to watch them at least twice so I can take good notes the second time. I'm a beginner flower farmer but I've been gardening for years across the US (Montana, California, North Carolina). I had never heard of flowers like Stock, and most of the other cool flowers until a few months ago. I planted some stock seedlings outside in November 2022. I'm in Zone 8A in Eastern NC. We had a cold spell of 12-18 degrees at night for about a week over Christmas and I was shocked they all survived and they look amazing right now. (I had Agribon 30 as cover.) Even more shocking to hear they're only winter hardy to Zone 8. Tough little plants and so much fun to grow. I'm having so much fun reading your books and watching your videos, Lisa!!! I never thought I would have a complete career change from dietitian and diabetes educator to flower farmer and I am absolutely loving life!!! Please keep these wonderful educational videos coming!!!

I absolutely love soil blocking. I learned to do it last spring & early summer, I practiced succession planting. I had so much better success seed starting, it was so exciting. I did make some mistakes, over or under watering, leaving plants too long - not planting out when they were ready. The experience of learning to seed start in soil blocks was so valuable to me I didn't let the failures get me down. I hope you have great success, and as much fun with the soil blocking as I did.

This was the best podcast! It prevented me from planting the right flowers at the wrong time and in the wrong way! I soaked Bells of Ireland seeds and was ready to start them inside tomorrow instead of seeding them outside next fall. You saved me time, disappointment and valuable bed space. Now I can grow other cool flowers that DO like to be started in very early spring in 7a-b. Whew! That was a close call.🌻😅

This information was super useful. Knowing what to plan successions for and what to not even try until fall has saved my cut flower patch. I’m new to flowers so widespread failures may have dissuaded me from gardening altogether. Feverfew is also my all time favorite 😍.

You make such a great point, Cheryl! So often when people have seed starting or gardening "failures", it is simply because the plants were not being grown in the conditions they needed to thrive 🌱 Thanks so much for sharing this inspiring message, and have a fantastic day! 💚🤗💚

We get forget me nots seeding themselves all over and I had no idea they were good cut flowers! We also have cool springs so if I heard right, they MIGHT come again? DEFINITELY going to try them! Secondly agrostemma--no deer and rabbit pressure! I am ordering them ASAP! This is GREAT information--does stock seem susceptible to deer pressure?

I'm so curious why I get so many stems from my stock flower plants! I just counted, and I've got NINE stems in my vase that came from ONE plant. The main flower in the middle is the big one, but all the stems off the side are nearly as long as a ruler. Fills up a vase beautifully, but I keep hearing they're supposed to be a one flower plant. Maybe it's our sub tropical area.
