You're ready to graduate from starting your seeds in egg cartons, repurposed food containers, and reused plant pots and packs. Where do you go from here? The peat discs can be the next lily pad or you can jump straight into seed trays. With the popularity of gardening and seed starting comes many kinds of seed trays to choose from. It used to be that only kind available were for commercial growers. These come in 72-cells; which for the home gardener is way way more than they need of one kind of plant. For those new to using seed trays, my recommendation is for the @vego_garden Seed Starting Bundle 10"x20" Mix. Trays come with individual domes and the Mix provides two commonly used sizes. The individual cells are sized to use garden soil or ProMix (a peat-centric mix.) Being able to use multiple kinds of growing medium allows for the versatility of using these trays to start seeds indoors or outdoors (when the weather permits.) Trays are designed for the newer gardeners in mind. Large holes on the bottom of the trays help with releasing seedlings from the trays. However, some of the features that help the new gardener may become a hindrance for an advanced gardener. When experience makes up for a lack of a hole to assist with removing a seedling, smaller more space saving trays can be used. The Bootstrap Farmer 6-cell trays takes up less space and allows for more plants to use the same grow light. Also covered in this video are seed trays available through Epic Gardening (use code NEDSTUFF for a discount and support my channel.) Other items covered include heavy duty 1020 tray and dome from Greenhouse Megastore and Vivosun heat mat. Lastly, thanks to Vego Garden for sending over the Seed Starting Bundle. This is a product that I have kept my eye on for myself and as something I would recommend. To support my channel and for a discount please visit the following link (glnk.io/vzw5/19s) to their page.
