Great video! I am looking forward to getting some seeds in as well and for the gardening season to start up. Do you buy any of your seeds from any local companies who produce their own seeds.

Hey! Glad to see you are doing well. I have done some winter planting of assorted flowers and herbs. I have also started sowing some of my flower seeds under lights inside. Can’t wait for warmer weather to get outside and play in the garden. I am in Kentville, NS, now supposedly upgraded to a zone 6. We shall see. 😊☀️🌷

I am in central coast California and we had no frost this year! so I got started early! I have a small urban garden but I'm maxing it out this year. Dominating with peppers (sweet and super hots) cucumbers, beans and peas. My brassicas as soon as they are near the end I will stop all brassicas in the garden to avoid the plague of pests (white cabbage moth). I have one side of my house that is quite shady and only gets direct sun about 2 hours in a day, and those beds are planted with spinach, parsley and now greek oregano and lemon thyme.

Wow lots on the go! Does it get really hot there, so you have to get in early? But I bet the peppers and cukes love this?!

@@TheOptimisticGardener no we have goldilocks weather. Not too hot not too cold. I can grow beans and peas straight through until winter. Also peppers and tomatoes were still producing medium to large sizes all the way past November into December. San Luis Obispo, California.

I make cabbage rolls stuffed with meat, rice, tomato sauce and cheese backed in tomato sauce. I also like it chopped and mixed in my salads. I'm planting cabbage, kale, kohlrabi, potatoes, peas and beets in the garden now in Missouri, USA. I started peppers and eggplant and getting ready to start my tomatoes. I just love this time of year!

San Diego - only 3 hours from me - glad you were there when it wasn't flooding 👍🏼. I don't like cooked cabbage but I do love eating a hunk of red cabbage raw just like an apple strangely enough. I always have it on hand for our daily salads - it's the purple for the rainbow color I aim for with our salad. Only broccoli seeds I'm growing this year are for my sprouts along with alfalfa, radish and clover. Best regards

Yes got there the week after the flooding :) I actually like Red cabbage, but not raw!

Great to see you back again and glad you are doing well post surgeries. I am also in NS. Curious what seeds you plant for cherry tomatoes. We did Acadians last year in containers. Lots of bloom but very few tomatoes. Happy Gardening
@TheOptimisticGardener8 ай бұрын
Thank you :) The cherries I plant are usually "F1 Cherry Mix" from Mckenzie. They are normally really good "doers" and a and a dark red striped version that I can't remember the type at the moment. I didn't have a very good season last year with my inside or outside tomatoes.

Great to see you again! I hope your hip is well on its way to being 💯%. Starting my peppers this week, also a couple of zucchini, tomatoes and spinach indoors; I know I’m pushing it, but the prices in the stores are ridiculous. Happy almost Spring, from Waterville, NY 😊🎉

Very interesting!!! I don't think of sowing those delicate plants for a northern area. I guess my family had their preferences of mainly tubers. But now that I say this we did not have a greenhouse back then. Unused barns though...🤔

Oh shoot I need to start my flower seeds. I got so busy trying to figure out how to manage my leggy broccoli and brussel sprouts, that I didn't put in my flower seeds.😮

Do you have success with transplanting beets out? Mine usually don't transplant well. I will be starting my peas next week in gutters in my greenhouse, so I can transfer them easily to my garden, when tipped they just slide out easily.
@TheOptimisticGardener8 ай бұрын
Hi Elizabeth, I have definitely managed to transplant them no worries, but I don't think you should worry if you don't. At the end of the day I just sow indoors for insurance, beets are easy enough to germinate outside.
