Congratulations!! I had tears both when your neighbours made you noodles to welcome you home and when you finally got to see your boyfriend. So glad you two are back together. About the malls, I grew up in Ontario (Canada) where there are many large shopping malls. It was definitely used as a place to meet up with friends (and shop) while staying out of the cold. I now live in British Columbia where the winters are very mild, often without any snow. We have a few malls here but the vast majority of the shops rely on foot traffic year round.

So happy for the two of you! It reminds me of when my husband and I did long distance. I'm a Melbournian, husband french and came to Australia for work... We moved to Japan together for a year.. then afterwards, went through the visa process for Aus for him, whilst going back and forth to Aus and france (Alsace, A German influenced Provence) and he finally moved to Melbourne just before COVID hit!
