Join me on a journey past the gas giants to a frozen world that has captured the hearts of millions ever since it was discovered back in 1930. In this video, we will explore part of Pluto's frozen heart (Tombaugh Regio), an enormous feature first seen in 2015 by the New Horizons spacecraft. Once again dust off your super science fiction space suit and take a walk across the icy dwarf planet, observe its pinkish coloured mountains and listen to its alien wind. But beware, your suit only has a certain amount of battery power, so don't wander too far............
This is an artists impression of what Pluto's heart might look like based on the information collected by New Horizons in 2015.

You will barely see anything honestly. At mid day near the equator, you might make out part of an ark from the rings. But you would barely see it. Atmosphere and clouds are so thick, and it rains methane constantly.

Orbitals and windows. If you play some Kerbal Space Program you can try for yourself. It's a little tricky and math-y, but I did manage to get to the Mars equivalent there, and I'm pretty much a doofus.
@politicallycorrectredskin796
@politicallycorrectredskin796 3 жыл бұрын
@@alberttrevorson2386 Yes, basically a satirical space program with little green men. I think the solar system there is 1/2 the size of the real one, so it's pretty enormous. If you don't use time compression when you travel it literally takes months to get to the other planets. But the rocketry and space bits are realistic. I know I learned a lot from it. You start out with simple engines etc and then unlock tech as you explore things. Orbit, the moon and so on. You can make it as advanced as you like, and I've seen some crazy designs. But you can also keep it simple and get things done. A lot of fun, relaxing and educational. Well, landings are the opposite of relaxing, but other than that it's a mellow experience. You just need a little patience and the right mentality of problem-solving. My first rocket refused to go up at all, so it crashed into a nearby mountain. So you have to figure out what went wrong and try again. And again. The thing some people are frustrated by with it is that there are no invisible barriers to doing stupid stuff. If you place all your engines upside down, they will indeed fire that way and probably explode everything in a fireball. But if you can deal with that freedom it is highly recommended.

In this video we explore Pluto's frozen heart, but where shall we visit next? You decide! Watch until the end to see the options and cast your vote below! I hope you enjoyed this journey across Pluto. The visuals are based on information collected by New horizons back in 2015 and I made the animations using After Effects. As you can see, real images captured by New horizons also pop up, providing a deeper experience and a better understanding of this distant, frozen world. Have a great day and I'll see you on the next video! V

Why Io when landing on this moon would be roughly the same as landing on an exploding volcano? On the other hand (and apart from the fact that organizations such as NASA wouldn't even waste their time, effort and finances in even considering any landing on Io with the possible exception of a flyby), the moon Titan has been considered by experts in this field of science as the closest celestial object in our Solar system in comparison to our own planet Earth or as Earth may have been (minus the frigid temperatures) about 2 billion years ago. Enough said.

I'd love to be able to go to Titan, it's the one place in the whole solar system that I'd go to if I could go anywhere I wanted. But IO would be extremely interesting to explore as well, so really you can't go wrong either way. I LOVED this exploration video and hope you make many many more!!!
