Priority Eden Prime: This is labeled as a Priority mission, but it is actually DLC. However, it is one that is good to do early, as it is like the Lair of the Shadow Broker in ME2; it pays off more and more over the course of the game.

"Where is Kelly?" Remember, most of your crew in ME2 were part of Cerberus, not the Alliance. Now that the Normandy is part of the Alliance military again, the Cerberus crew members will be in custody, on the run, or back with the Illusive Man. Therefore Kelly, Rupert Gardiner, and the chatty crewmen etc won't be on the Normandy.

War Assets: One of the things you will need to do in the game is build up the assets needed for the final push. You will need to keep that in mind when you deal with unpleasant people - you may need them. As an example, punching Khalisa al-Jilani may have felt good, but it cost you a war asset. In the original release, the multi-player part of the game could increase the values of the war assets you gained. In the default setting, they all get counted as 50% or normal. The multi-player component could raise that to 60%, 70%, or 80% depending on your successes. With that option removed, getting as many of the war assets as you can counts for more.

As a follow-up, each of the N7 missions "unlocked" a location for use in the Multiplayer game. Shepard needs to do then once, then you could play (as another character) the multiplayer missions on the same map.

1) DLC and mission timing- no story spoilers here, but there is some information regarding story STRUCTURE, so I'll put it under a drop. But I do recommend you read this, Chris. It will help your playthrough without giving anything important away. There are 4 DLC for ME3- From Ashes- recover the artifact from Eden Prime- should be done as soon a possible. Omega- Meet Aria at Bay 42- can be done at any time, but is long and combat intensive, so wait until you are comfortable with your build and equipment. Leviathan- Meet Dr. Bryson at his lab- should be done late in the game. Citadel- Go to Anderson's apartment- should be done late in the game. Most people save it for before the point of no return. Mission timing- as a rule, Priority missions advance the story and change the state of the galaxy. This will cause some non-priority missions to time out or fail. So, paradoxically, do everything else you can before doing the Priorities.

The rear admiral Mikhailovitch is the guy who waited for us at the docks in the citadel in ME1 when we first came back after our first flight in the Normandy. The as*le who was criticizing it as a waste of money and requested to do an inspection, the one who let us know that after the initial mission with Anderson we were supposed to join his fleet. Had you decided to save the council in ME1 his fleet would have taken huge casualties saving them and he would have died in that battle.

Great episode. Favourite part - the penny dropping on KEI-9's name :). I also like that you've warmed to James straightaway. Most people dont, and I generally understand that as even for a new character in the 3rd part of a trilogy, his introduction is a little bumpy let's say. However, he's a good guy. Also, in all my ME3 playthroughs - and there's been many - I've never stopped and looked at all the photos in Diana Allers room - great attention to detail Chris although I'm not convinced it is Thane but it could be.

Get the Typhoon spectre minigun, give it to James or Garrus, then sit back and relax. The monitors in Liara's room are bugged. In fact, something involving the player, the camera and all the dynamic objects in that room causes all the monitors to "look at" Shepard all the time. Not sure of you consider this spoiler or not, but it is more of a dire warning: Priority Eden Prime will fail automatically if you delay it for too long. I'd say you have nothing to loose and a lot to gain if you do it as soon as possible. As others pointed out, return to the Spectre Terminal at least after every Priority mission. Some ambient conversations will continue if you go away for a bit and then get close to the NPCs again. This way you can get their stories faster without loosing track. One of them on the Citadel is of particular importance.

Unlike ME2 with the arrival dlc being separate from the main plot, the ME3 dlc feel more connected to the main plot of gathering allies and strength so they can be treated more like side missions to be done as you please, also without spoiling anything if you want to do side missions I would recommend doing them as soon as you can annoyingly the game has various ‘points of no return’ that it doesn’t warn about that can make quests uncompleteable or just disappear altogether

Imagine if you'd romanced Ashley back in ME1. That would put a dampener on the relationship in ME2, so in ME3 I feel like it's difficult to rekindle the romance. *Technology* "Everything is based on Prothean stuff." Is it really? Sovereign said that everything you made is based on Reaper technology. I paraphrase: "You develop along the lines we demand." So perhaps it's not that reliant on Prothean stuff, considering _their_ technology was also based on Reaper technology. *Renegade prompts* Well, after punching the journalist, I can understand why you're not choosing the prompts for James. But to be fair, different setting, different context. Using the renegade prompts is actually allowing you to actually hit him. It's understandable that his emotions are high with that conversation, but it does show him that he's letting his emotions take over, making mistakes that actually damage him. That ties in even more when Shepard tells him: "It sounds like you don't care if you live or die." and you've already made that clear before, when he used the shuttle to crash the Cerberus shuttle. It's the first time that I have seen you not being able to read the room, and I think it ties in to admitting your guilt for punching the reporter. James is a strong-headed character, so _sometimes_ you need to show him a bit of tough love. His build and his attitude all point to the stereotype, but he's not a brainless soldier, as you hear from that conversation. He knows sometimes you need to follow your brains rather than the heart, so renegade prompts for him are usually positive responses. *Jack* In the space where Jack was holed up, all the way down in the ship, you missed an interactable or two. And there's that curious _noise_ that you kept hearing. You were so distracted that you may want to revisit that place. *745* Imagine if you hadn't scanned all those planets back in ME2. You would've been down _a hundred_ to 645 in military strength. Amazing how much a little planet scanning contributes to, right? *Weapon bench* Back with your standard weapons, you had a weight/power recharge of something like -65%. After upgrading your weapons, it dropped down to -45%. You may want to keep an eye on that to see how much upgrades benefit your advantages in terms of weight/power recharge as well. Also, having both a sniper _and_ shotgun means you're carrying the two heaviest weapon classes at the same time, which is rather disadvantageous. You may want to experiment in a side quest by bringing just one (and a side-arm) to experience the difference in the weight/power recharge times. Then you're much more able to make a better judgement call on how much you want the weapons over the power benefits. *Pulse scanning* You're probably going to figure this out on your own at some point, but for a YT playthrough (and editing Chris) it's not as fun struggling to get to a Mass Relay over and over. So I offer a little bit of advice. Nothing groundbreaking, but still. 1) Remember in ME2, when the direction of your ship on the galaxy map influenced at which side you'd enter the system? That's still working in ME3. 2) If Reapers show up by scanning, better scan the system with a Mass Relay last. Explore the other systems first, because you'll have to return to the Mass Relay eventually anyway. It's no fun fleeing a system and having to return there because it's the only system with a Mass Relay. *Wrapping up* Also, several people will probably tell you to do Eden Prime before Palaven, but you don't have to. Eden Prime can safely be done after Palaven without any repercussions. Plus, it's honestly more rewarding to do Eden Prime _after_ Palaven in terms of dialogue options and banter - at least imho.

2) Guns and the Spectre range. ME3 has lots of guns. LOTS. More than you can buy on an initial playthrough, let alone upgrade. First, don't get hypnotized by a high damage rating. A high damage gun that weighs a ton, kicks like a mule, has to be reloaded after every shot, doesn't have much ammo, and isn't very accurate is not a good gun (if it's also accurate, then it's the Widow or Javelin). A moderate damage, high rate of fire weapon might suit you better. Figure out what suits your play style. Second, some of the guns are odd. Just in the pistols category, we have a shotgun pistol, one that's as powerful (and unwieldy) as a sniper rifle, one that fires timed sticky bombs, one that is a miniature version of the Arc Projector heavy weapon, one that fires a small warp field, and one that does dink damage but is very accurate and fires as long as it has ammo if you hold down the trigger down. There is a shotgun that fires a cluster of spikes, a sniper that fires a harpoon, and an assault rifle that fires high explosive rounds. There are weapons that charge up for a more powerful shot when you hold down the trigger for a moment, and ones that fire faster the longer you hold down the trigger. So, which ones are good? Well, that depends on your build and play style. But the one place you DON'T want to find out that a gun doesn't suit you is in the middle of a mission. Which is where the Spectre range comes in. It's the place to try them out and figure out which ones you want to take into the field. Oh, and since some of the guns are so pricy, here's a little tip- save the game before buying the gun, then take it straight to the range and try it out. If you decide it's a waste of money, load the save, and it's like you took it back for a full refund. 😉 Don't worry about upgrading until you are set on your weapons. There's nothing like spending thousands upgrading a weapon you never use. Finally, don't forget to upgrade and mod your teams' weapons. And remember, weight and ammo count mods do nothing for them.

The Special Ops missions (N7 missions) were designed to introduce players to ME3's multiplayer maps back when it first released... 12 years ago... fuck, I feel old. The operatives "holding point" were multiplayer matches on each map; they also tied into the game's War Asset system. Without multiplayer, the Legendary Edition removed this bit, but, by default all your War Assets in ME3 were kept at half-strength, the only way to improve that was to win multiplayer matches which would slowly improve galactic readiness, and the harder the match, the bigger the improvement. Bricky has a great video on ME3's multiplayer, here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nZepfXprr9CXsMU

The only DLC you need to worry about doing by accident all properly begin with you selecting different docks when arriving at the Citadel, those being Dr. Bryson's Lab, Dock 42 and Silversun Strip. Just don't pick any of them until you feel ready to do them. And those are the ideal order to do them in; Dr. Bryson's Lab' DLC sends you all over the galaxy, Dock 42's DLC must be done to completion once began, you don't have an option there, and Silversun Strip's is the last piece of DLC for the entire trilogy, and should, ideally, be done as the last thing before this game's point of no return, it's also the biggest piece of DLC for the entire trilogy, so, be prepared to dedicate 11-12 episodes to fully explore it.
@JezaGaia4 ай бұрын
My thoughts on why the council's answer was bad, sure they are at risk and cannot divert troops to help earth, we can argue that we can only defeat them united but then it means sending all armies to one single location but that'll never happen because no sane civilization will accept to be eradicated to save another. However the goal is not to try and defeat the reapers with an army, the goal is to build the megaweapon and they could contribute to this, scientists at the very least and manpower, it's also a great way to evacuate some civilians with high profiles (engineers and so on) because you don't need to find where to relocate and feed them. That's where IMO the council failed, not by refusing troops but by refusing support in building the weapon. They could at least have sent a team of experts to investigate the plans ad give a yes/no on the use and feasibility. The salarians most of it because they're the scientific minds of the galaxy. And on top of this they should at least be trying to facilitate cooperation between civilizations, like we have some quantum entanglement devices for communication that might be useful for other civs and they might have some resources they could make available too. Plus all intel should be spread to all civilizations. That's what fighting together means and if it's done behind the scenes it's not be made clear by the game.

Well, yes, human interests. Not risking human ships and trying to seize power in the aftermath. The last part might not have been Shepard's intention, but they can't know about that and it was a naked power play by the Alliance as a whole regardless. Whatever was in Shepard's head at the time, *that is exactly what happened* . They are right. But if it somehow turns out the combined fleets *can* stop the Reapers and they save Earth, that would require leaving their worlds completely open. Saving Earth at the cost of their entire planets is not an option when you don't have any idea of the odds. They Council is completely valid now. The Alliance wouldn't rush to save Palaven if that cost them the entirety of their territory. Whatever the Council and the Alliance's faults before (and yes, the Alliance was just as willing to sweep the threat under the rug barring some people like Hackett), at this moment the Council is being perfectly logical. And yeah, the replacement Council is far harder and colder throughout. Understandably so. The entirety of your crew in ME2 were Cerberus. For obvious reasons none of them are serving on an Alliance frigate at the moment. Your defense of the involvement with Cerberus is irrelevant. Because no one who was not with you *can trust your word* on it.

This. In defence of the Council throughout the trilogy, they are supposed to represent all the sides and opinions of the Council races (and many of the non-Council races as well), without showing preference towards any one race. By the time ME1 kicks off, humanity was already being side-eyed by many of the other races (Council or non-Council) for [what seemed like] preferential treatment thanks to how quickly they advanced after finding the Prothean ruins on Mars and later what took place during and after the First Contact War. At the end of Mass Effect, the choice of sacrificing the Council in order to have more fleets against Sovereign was seen as sacrificing the one unified voice of the races for the sake of human interests, regardless of what the "true" rationale behind that choice was. Udina is not exactly wrong in his vocal attempts to get much needed help from the Council throughout the trilogy, but he has not exactly put himself in the Coucil's shoes -- as in what the Council actually represents.

Nah. The council has always been logical, just not right lol they are being understandable, yes, but not reasonable. Humanity has been "lucky" being the main target of the Reapers because then they can say they were right all along but, if the Council fully believes Shepard now, I would wager he also has the best plan, so I would follow Shepards decision, not humanitys because there is no other alternative other than all the galaxy losing

"If we throw everything we have at Earth and still lost..." Remember what Ashley said in ME1? "If you face an enemy and you have to sacrifice your dog to survive, we all would sacrifice the dog." People give her flak about that, but here with the Council you see that it's not even a human perspective, even the other species feel the same. We're all beings that protect our own lives, families, even species over others. We tend to disagree, but it's merely the idea of superiority, that we would never stoop that low. But that's an illusion, because we will, if there's enough at stake. Truths can be very unpleasant. The only reason why people think we won't, is because they can't _comprehend_ the stakes that will make one do so. *Palaven* The Turians have the biggest fleet, the _strongest_ fleet in the entire galaxy. If the Reapers are able to put the pressure on the Turian's homeworld despite their military prowess, that's gonna be one tough mission. That's why I think bringing James, being a thorough soldier, gives you the most suitable conversations regarding the dreadful situation. Also, once you've completed Palaven, you can check out that trailer I pointed you towards. The last spoilers from that trailer ensemble was regarding to Palaven. I couldn't really tell you about Palaven until you got that notice from the game ;) *Spectre office* It would be advisable to return here every so often to check on the terminals. It usually has some news, but the procurement terminal will also offer you items that you've failed to find during side quests - for a minor fee. That way you won't be permanently stuck with side quests that can't be completed. Well, as long as they're physical objects that you're supposed to find. It still feels cheap, but it's a good compromise. Oh - do keep in mind that the 'news' items sometimes offer you an 'accept/deny' option in the bottom right, if they're news items that allow you to act on it. Those buttons almost blend in, so many people simply don't see them until someone points out they exist. *Work bench* Do keep in mind that the weight limitation is only applicable to you. Your squad mates don't actually suffer from the weight encumbrance, so you can give them heavy weapon combinations without having to worry about their power/ability recharge speed. (In which case, that _Typhoon_ is a very nice assault rifle-type, if you want to invest in weapons for your squad mates you don't use yourself.) *Citadel* The Citadel feels rather underwhelming, but a few more sections will open up later on as the game progresses. *Admiral Mikhailovic* You've actually met him in person in ME1. He was the alliance officer that wanted to inspect the Normandy on the Citadel after Anderson gave the ship to you. He was very skeptic regarding the layout of the CIC, the cooperation with the Turians and your crew consisting of other species. Perhaps you remember him :) *Priority Eden Prime* This is called a Priority mission, but it's actually a DLC that you'd want to do as soon as possible. Preferably right after Palaven, or even before that. I'd opt to do Palaven first, then Eden Prime, but it's up to you how to balance these missions. This DLC actually fits in at this point in time plot-wise, so don't wait too long after finishing your mission on Palaven's moon. Just don't worry about progressing the story, because Eden Prime can't do that as a DLC. *Dog* It's also a very non-subtle wink to the movie "K-9", where they had a dog by that name, which assisted a police officer in his work. This was a bit before they actually started using dogs in the police force. *Fish* Well, you _were_ in detention for around 6 months. The Alliance cleared out the Cerberus people and repurposed the Normandy, so obviously they had to move stuff around. You can still see cables hanging from the walls, so they've obviously not finished their job (hence why Traynor is still there). They obviously couldn't keep a tank full of fish when the power goes off all the time and they didn't have water all the time. Anyway, I'd suggest to keep at least something like 15k in your pocket and not spend everything the next time you can go shopping. You never know when you'll find new fish and all. Better keep some money back in case you see an opportunity, right? *Memorial wall* Jenkins. Wasn't that the guy you _started_ ME1 with? Him and Kaidan.

I never allow Vega to call me Loco. Seems unprofessional. Vega is also not your typical Alliance soldier, a bit too informal for my liking. I like to keep him in line.

Funnily I allow him to call me a nickname if Femshep, but not Broshep. Although I'm not totally sure why I take the different approach.......
