It's not always the BEST car you fall in love with , the R8 probably beats the 12C in almost every aspect going yet you can tell Sam has instantly fallen in love with the car. I sold mine after my battery died. alternate battery from BMW was $872.00 and that wasn't compatible for electronic so I had to buy one from dealer. battery cost $ 3155.00 because its lithium ion and it died again voiding warranty due to not being faulty battery. after $ 725.00 in diagnostic, it turned out to be faulty ignition switch keeping battery on. total including new ignition switch, batteries, diagnostic work, labor and misc charges, total of $ 11,582.17. now I drive Ferrari F360 F1 spider. much happier and hate to say it, it performs better. Just ordered Lambo Huracan and both of car takes battery like normal cars. just a thought and not hating.

sell your Abarth, the car does not fit in as a daily. it is uncomfortable, not practical, far to small to do day to day activities in, and does not really driver properly. sell it and contribute most of it towards your supercar. The whole point of a daily is to be comfortable, easy to drive, practical and generally easy to live with. What is the point of buying a super if the abarth is as unconventional as one? buy like a used audi a3 /s3 or even a golf r. Those are one of the best cars that come to mind that fit into a daily and as sporty and fast at the same time. Don't buy something as crazy as the abarth because buying a supercar will serve no purpose

Please just test drive the 2017 GTR. I know people say it's boring and not special but for £80000 you get a brand new car that is extremely comfortable and reliable with an all wheel drive system and amazing launch control that does 0-60 in just under three seconds and a twin turbo hand crafted 565 horsepower engine with a really good dual clutch transmission. Also a really nice sounding stock titanium exhaust. You also get good features inside such as leather seats and a revamped interior that is luxurious that you can use everyday and in your road trips to Monaco and such. Please just give it a try just too expand your options.

I would, however, adore having someone from one of these major channels purchase something or other that's Italian. Seeing as to that your daily is Italian, and that you have a passion for the world's greatest supercar brand, I think you should buy your next car from, well, you know what I'm going to say. Ferrari! F430 test drive video, I have a feeling, will be the last of this series. Your next video would be announcing a tour of Europe in an F430! How does that sound, mate? Think about it, Ferrari... THE Ferrari... prancing horse... priceless racing experience... Italian flare and passion... every human emotion designed, sculpted, and formed into a single machine. Doesn't that sound like more fun than some Porsche, Audi, or even McLaren?

The 12C is the most usable car out of everything you have tested so far due to its suspension setup and, ironically, a better daily than your Abarth. (not that hard lol) Concerning reliability and price of parts, back in 2011/2012, while the first batch of 12C's were having minor issues related to software and electronics (e.g. sensors being triggered out etc.) Ferrari's and Porsche's were catching fire. Those issues were easily fixed for free. Of course there might have been some people who had bad luck with more serious issues (also due to incompetent drivers), but that was most probably a very small minority, nothing like the issues of the 458's and 991 GT3's. About the paddle shifters, when the 12C was launched the setup was "revolutionary" because you could just press the paddle shifter gently to pre-program and prepare the engine/transmission for the gear change before and then pressing it a bit harder to really change. The interior is minimalistic but could be optioned with leather etc. All in all this is the best package if you don't fancy the R8 V10 Plus, and let's be realistic, you're not gonna find a 540C for 120K that soon. You always have the McLaren warranty just in case. One of the main criticism towards the 12C in the begining was the "lack of emotion", well that was always a bunch of BS, and this video is just another proof. You want a compromise between usability and supercar looks and performance, if you had the money the 570GT would be THE car, but since you can't THIS is it. If you decide to buy one though don't go for this particular one, get a stock one.

Think about why the previous owner has sold this thing. He invested some amount of money and made this car an absolute monster. And I can easily see he had tons of fun. Super fast, super comfy and you can get very special ""supercar" feel all the time. However, I can also easily see he had tons of pain in the ass at the same time. The reliability. Problems and issues could hit you at any time. Probably the door issue was not the only one. Hey, that car must have been fully inspected by a dealer with good reputation and it still has those freaking doors! I can easily see how the owner got fed up with everything and decided to sell it. If you want to use it strictly as a weekend supercar, maybe it would work and work wonderfully. Even if you have a problem or two you can just send it to some smart people and wait for them to fix it. But if you want to use it more like once in a few days and especially bring it to your occasional long trips which could be for days like the Modball, it simply wouldn't work. McLarens could be your *next to the next" supercar. McLarens or a 458 probably.

Ricky Samayoa we'll see afterall scl oped for a sport gt over a supercar due to practical, comfort etc stg has seemingly opted for similar choices.. ie practical & yet fun over overall performance... that increases costs & well would hinder future purchases.. he could buy an Aston & have thousands left... leaving more money in the kitty for a future all-out purchase, which in effect would give him more buying power, again making more of an investment 'resulting in £££££' for the future. an Aston is a great sport GT car with overwhelming features & usable performance whilst not costing then mother earth, again allowing for future growth. also don't forget car spotting has been massively effected with the clamp down in London, utube is evolving making it more involving to gain views/subscribers etc so going all out could potentially be a very bad thing... unless ur loaded jww, shmee etc have little to worry about slc & stg don't seem to have anywhere near the funds invade it pours it down "if you follow me"

Sam, Tony made some excellent points about buying the 12C as a daily. There is a slim possibility that you could buy a car that will have no issues and will run fine but if something goes wrong the price to repair it will be stratospheric. It's also not the car that you REALLY want. You're in love with the McLaren brand and especially the 570 cars. I along with everyone else that watches your channel would love to see you in a new car but most of the cars you really want are either at the top of your budget or out of it. It may be difficult and fatiguing but I really think you should wait a bit until you can afford what you want.

You will find, that after you start the car, lower the window and the door will close without any fuss. The rubber gaskets around the door windows are very thick to stop air pressure from making noise.

Great video Sam. I definitely think you should buy a McLaren. Don't let reliability issues stop you buying a 12C, I've owned a Triumph Stag and several TVRs over the past 32 years and never had a reliability issue with any of my cars because I maintained them properly and used them regularly. It's all about good maintenance and caring for your vehicles. If I was you, I would get rid of your expensive yellow banana, buy a cheaper second hand daily for about 10k, like the fantastic pocket rocket 208 GTI from Peugeot, which will put as big a smile on your face as the Fiat and then put your extra cash/finance availability towards the McLaren, then allowing you to go for a 540C or maybe a 570S. Whatever you do, I'm sure you'll love it and continue to make great content for us all to enjoy. Keep up the great work and have a fantastic New Year. Regards Rob

Personally I absolutely love the 12c. If you want to go fast that is the most enticing choice since, as you've seen from this car, they can easily be remapped for mega power. I'm sure you've already read up on the 12c's issues but from my searching the car is mechanically solid with most of the issues software side. Not too many reports of major mechanical failures from what i can tell. Another common gripe i see with the car is the dated styling but Vorsteiner makes an absolutely beautiful kit for the car which i'm sure your friends at DUB would have zero issues installing. I for one really hope you choose the 12c haha It is quite possibly one of my favorite cars out there right now.

If you can't stretch to a 540 then you can't afford a 12c. Repair bills alone can easily end up being more than the difference in price for a 540 which you will need to account for.

Tony Marcella exactly, he's letting 750bhp go to his head😂.The 12C is a car that will give you classic buyers remorse, first few weeks, adrenalin rush then after a reality check....if it were me, i would save up the difference, push for a better finance deal or negotiate harder on a 540/570 but buying a 12C 👎👎

To be honest, it's probably a toss up between depreciation on a 540/570 and maintenance costs on a 12. IIRC you can still get the extended warranty on the 12C retroactively, which is obviously a good idea as the car does have reliability issues. It's fairly dear, I believe around 7k per year (for comparison, I paid around 1500 a year for the Approved warranty on my 911), but definitely less than annual depreciation on a 540/570. Look at leases. The residuals on 540s/570s are super low - depreciation on these over 3 years would dwarf any warranty expenses on the 12C. The only caveat might be stuff that's not covered by the warranty as I don't know McLaren's precise terms. Porsche covers pretty much everything.

Out of all the cars you have shown this is the best! Although I'd say if you really want a mclaren and you can stretch or get a mega deal for the other 540 "baby" mclaren I'd buy it. There's just so much more sense of occasion it doesn't give that mass produced vibe that the R8 gives and it doesn't seem as dated as the maserati. I'd also love to see you test a f430!

Looks fantastic, that volcano red is stunner, love 12C! I totally understand your excitement, there is something about McLaren's. Technically James's GT3 is probably better and more reliable but doesn't give this feeling. I really hope you'll find that 540C, that would be exciting for you and for the channel, and it's a brand new and interesting car to have, drive and film. But if you can't 12C is a strong option. It is really pitty R8 isn't this exciting.
