@messianic scam not a murderer, it was clearly explained if you actually watched this. Kaab committed blatant treason which was and still is considered one of the worst of crimes. There was a reason behind all of this not vengeance

I think one other way this could be understood is in light of the verse revealed to our beloved Messenger (SAW) regarding the prisoners of war of Badr and the perfect verdict given to us and the Messenger (SAW) in the Qur'an by Allah (SWT) and what befits him (SAW) until he becomes more powerful. Allah (SWT) knows best and I'm only making an observation in light of the story of Badr.

Extrajudicial murder by nation states are almost a norm in todays world e.g drone attacks, rendition then torture then murder etc etc. So I dont see why anyone today can complain about this and why it needs defending specifically. I don't regard this incident as being extrajudicial anyway, but that's a side issue.

The only difference is that nations are not "holy" and do not pretend to represent the epitome of moral values. What happened to Kaab the poet is not different than Charlie Hebdo terrorist attack. Besides, why do you wanna kill poet? Apparently satire triggered Mohamed so much that he ordered the assassination. Mohamed was just a local warlord and he's not from God.

Some people use the hadith where the prophet ordered the killing of Ka'b bin al-Ashraf to "prove" that anyone who insults the prophet, his punishment is capital punishment. Lets forget that the arabic word آذى can mean many different things, and that it says Ka'b made "athaa" of both the prophet and Allah آذَى اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ, and let's forget the other proofs brought by the proponents of capital punishment for this offense and lets focus on this hadith alone as it is one of their (in their opinion) strongest proofs for their claim. In his "Fath al-Bari" Ibn Hajar brings different narrations to show and support the fact that Ka'b did not merely insult the prophet, he actually made an alliace with the Quraysh to fight the prophet and all the muslims. Ibn Hajar mentions narrations that shows that Ka'b: 1. Made insulting poetry AND supported the mushrikeen/polytheists (against the prophet) 2. That Ka'b went to the mushrikeen of Quraysh and swoar to fight the muslims, including the prophet. 3. That he encouraged the Quraysh to fight the muslims, and that the prophet found out about this and said: He has showed his hostility towards us.. 4. That Ka'b and others invited the prophet to a gathering where they wanted to deceit him, but the prophet was told about their plans against him before they could hurt him, and then the prophet told his companions to go after Ka'b. (this narration is weak though according to Ibn Hajar himself). Ibn Hajar then mentions that it was the opinion of al-Bukhari that Ka'b was "Muhaarib", one who waged war against the muslims, and that this is evident from al-Bukharis tarjumas to this hadith (different places in his "Sahih", which was Bukharis style): Bukhari says: "Chapter: War is deceit / باب الْحَرْبُ خَدْعَةٌ" And then he brings this hadith: Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) called war deceit. And then he mentions the hadith where the prophet told his companions to go after Ka'b: Narrated Jabir bin `Abdullah: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Who is ready to kill Ka`b bin Al-Ashraf who has really hurt Allah and His Apostle?" Muhammad bin Maslama said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Do you like me to kill him?" He replied in the affirmative. So, Muhammad bin Maslama went to him (i.e. Ka`b) and said, "This person (i.e. the Prophet) has put us to task and asked us for charity." Ka`b replied, "By Allah, you will get tired of him." Muhammad said to him, "We have followed him, so we dislike to leave him till we see the end of his affair." Muhammad bin Maslama went on talking to him in this way till he got the chance to kill him. حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏"‏ مَنْ لِكَعْبِ بْنِ الأَشْرَفِ، فَإِنَّهُ قَدْ آذَى اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ ‏"‏‏.‏ قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ أَتُحِبُّ أَنْ أَقْتُلَهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ ‏"‏ نَعَمْ ‏"‏‏.‏ قَالَ فَأَتَاهُ فَقَالَ إِنَّ هَذَا ـ يَعْنِي النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ قَدْ عَنَّانَا وَسَأَلَنَا الصَّدَقَةَ، قَالَ وَأَيْضًا وَاللَّهِ قَالَ فَإِنَّا قَدِ اتَّبَعْنَاهُ فَنَكْرَهُ أَنْ نَدَعَهُ حَتَّى نَنْظُرَ إِلَى مَا يَصِيرُ أَمْرُهُ قَالَ فَلَمْ يَزَلْ يُكَلِّمُهُ حَتَّى اسْتَمْكَنَ مِنْهُ فَقَتَلَهُ‏.‏ Sahih al-Bukhari 3031 For the prophet Muhammad peace was always his first choice and war was his last choice, but when a man like Ka'b went behind his back and tried to get him and the muslims killed, by joining the very group of people who expelled the prophet and the muslims from Mecca and killed alot of muslims before this, the prophet was forced to defend himself and the muslims from being killed, tortured and expelled from their homes a second time. With all the evidences taking into consideration it is clear that Ka'b did not only insult the prophet verbally, he actually made and alliance with the Quraysh to fight and kill the prophet and the rest of the muslims and he made this very clear by stating this/his loyalty to Quraysh by holding on to the cloth of the Ka'bah (an old practice back then for showing how serious they were about "X") and swearing that he would fight the prophet and the muslims. He knew that the prophet and the muslims would be told about this: That he was now figting the prophet and the muslims alongside with the Quraysh tribe. This was a declaration of war, simple as that. To summarize: Ka'b openly stated that he had become an enemy of the prophet and the muslims and that he was going to fight them alongside the Quraysh tribe, and yes he did insult the prophet verbally and in poems, but that was not the only "harm" / آذى he caused the prophet, as is clear from these evidences.

Why is it that in so many narrations we find the Prophet to be extremely forgiving and merciful, but in a few narrations like this one with Kab bin Ashraff we find him to be angry and vengeful? Personally I think this narration goes against the noble and beautiful character of the Prophet. Why also would he sanction his companions to be deceitful and treacherous? Many scholars held the opinion that if a narration contradicts with others and with the overall character and message of the Prophet, one of mercy and love, then it can be rejected. So I see no problem in rejecting this entire story. Just because it is in Bukhari does not mean it has to be accepted blindly. Bukhari himself was a human being and all human beings make mistakes. Only the prophets are protected from sin just as they are protected from anger, hatred and vengeance. I pray I am not being an apologetic or an innovator, rather I am simply using my mind to properly understand the Deen rather than blindly following scholars and their narrations.

@ArdoBlueMoon I think many people seem to forget that the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was also a leader of a state. He had to make decisions to ensure the survival of his state in a very hostile environment. There was no United Nations in 7th century Arabia. Even today with international treaties you see countries like the US and Russia ignoring all of those agreements when it suits their interests.

If you're always soft, then people will abuse that, so you have to measure the softness and compassion with firmness and strength. I don't see the problem with being deceitful in war as a strategem, this is absolutely necessary.

@Mohamed Mo Your point about OBL's assassination is spot on! Putting someone on trial in times of war when the evidence is apparent isn't always practical.

This is certainly problematic. Either Muslims must admit that the Prophet (pbuh) killed people for simply speaking against him, or they must admit that some of the hadith which they believe are simply not true. There is a significant amount of contradictory evidence in these hadith... yet they are held in as high regard as the Quran itself by some people. It is no wonder that is so much confusion, discord and agreement in the Muslim community.

As a political realist, it seems pretty unproblematic to me. In fact, it makes me happy that the Prophet too was at times a political realist. Any political state would have long executed an enemy of the state for treason during a time of war. The penalty of treason is death in most nation states today.

How? You have a political leader that has someone who is essentially committing treason. Not only did Ka'b and the Banu Nadhir have a treaty with the Holy Prophet (SAW) and break it, but he was also causing discord within the ummah by making foul poetry about Islam and the women of Islam. Filthy behavior, and the treason alone would get anyone in any time and place executed. Even the manner in which the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) killed him was fine. The political leader asked his men to go and take care of him. Simple as that. It's barely a story. The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) isn't just sent to sing kumbayah with everyone, he is a political leader as well as a religious leader that has to make these decisions.

Summary: Ka’ab Ibn al Ashraf- his father was pagan mother was Jewish from Banu Nadeer. His father committed murder outside of Medina so he fled to Madina and Banu nadeer adopted him. Kaab was one of main leaders, was handsome and was a great poet. His enimosoty towards Islam was since very beginning of Hijra (when Hijra was changed he said why did they change their qibla (Allah quotes him), told his Ansar friends not to give Zakat, (Allah quotes him in An Nisa:37 of those who are stingy). When Muslims came back from Badr and Zaid Ibn Harithah announced all those Quraysh who are dead Kaab said “if this is true it’s better to be dead” (pronounced verdict against himself). After Badr, he took Banu Nadeer to Mecca and formed alliance with Abu sufyan. Sufyan asks him who is more rightly guided (pagans or Muslims), Kaab says Pagans (Allah quotes this: Nisa:51) Allah told Muhammad saw about this alliance. Kaab used to write poetry against Islam, when he got back to Medina he wrote erotic poetry about Muslim women. (It was his idea to poison food which Muhammad saw would later eat) Muhammad Ibn Maslamah volunteered to kill Kaab (Maslamah was from Ous and Nadeer and Ous were good friends). Maslamah was scared he wouldn’t be able to do it so he didn’t eat for 3 days, Muhammad saw said just try. Maslamah called Kaab and started talking about how much hardships Muhammad saw put on us (he wasn’t serious) (Kaab got happy), Maslamah had to give something for mortgage to Kaab since Kaab was money lender (wouldn’t give his wife or son), so he said he’ll give weapons. At night, when Kaab was with his new young wife, Maslamah and Abu Naila (Kaabs foster brother), came to Kaab with weapons and Naila asked “I smell nicest perfume can I smell ur head”, Kaab lowered his head then they held his head and killed him. Muhammad saw had authority to kill him how he wanted since he was leader of Medina. (This secret targeted assasination is still protected today by west)

I think this is like a circumstantial thing because looking back, there were moments in the Meccan era where the Muslims were allowed to lie to stop being tortured. This must also be a circumstantial thing because it was very important, hence why he asked the prophet saw to lie in the first place. Allah knows best.

As for the narration of Kaab in Sahee Bukhari and Muslim, his words are not the exact words that are used while assassinating him. Muslima asked for lying and while kaab came outside, he and his friends had a plan to kill him ( not to fulfill the deed). And this group of friends, Kaab foster brother was also involved. This hadith is either fabricated or weak and if not, it raises a question what is truth then? Why common muslim who just thinks every hadith is like a word of Quran(God), not follow it and use it these days against others? Of course they would and that is why ISIS, Taliban and so many others are following these kinds of Hadith.

@2347_Shahriar Kabir Ibrahim is a Prophet and it’s not appropriate for a Prophet to lie although the lies they might say will be really minor and would be overlooked and forgiven by Allah. In this case Muhammad (saw) didn’t actually tell him to lie. Also how is he going to kill him without saying some sort of a lie it’s pretty impossible to assassinate a person who’s a politician like Ka’ab plus it’s basically not a lie since he told the Prophet that he is going to say something about him so Rasullah knew that something would be said about him and he gave permission for it so technically we can count it as not being a lie.

His telling a lie for a good cause and he seeks permission from the Prophet (saw) and the prophet gives him permission furthermore if it really was a sin. Probably the Prophet would have asked Allah to forgive him. So there wouldn’t a issue in any case.

Is Assassination permitted or supported in Islami? Assassination seems to be something unethical. If anyone went against treaty then why wasn't he judicially killed?

Naimulmusfiq Naim There was no judiciary...these were different tribes who existed without being under the rule of one king...whatever the Prophet SAW did was under the guidance of Allah...he was a threat, he had to be taken care of, simple.

Very nice speech. I got a chance to visit the demolished fortress of Ka'ab bin Ashraf. It is a a big fortress. Ka'ab bin Ashraf was a first pornographic poetin this world. Ka'ab is indirectly advised the young jewish and other filthy people to attack the Muslim womens during the night in his poet. So Prophet sallallahu alaiwasallam did a great job to assasinate him the same action.

I'm not trying to doubt the story. But who did narrate the conversation that happened between Ka'b ibn al-Ashraf and his wife? it's supposed to be private, isn't?

Ka'b himself might have done in since he told the companions that he was newly wed. Right? Arabs love talking and getting into details. He could have boasted about it.

If I recall correctly, it was preserved in their family history so probably from the wife herself and passed on to her children. I recall reading a Western academic paper that argued for it being preserved in the family.

[24] . همان، ص12.

It does not matter what kind of political system it had on that time. How could assassination take place? If it was about hurting/harming Allah or eventually Muhammad (S:), Allah could punish him by taking his life. How prophet told muslema to lie!!! killing some one deceiving!!! i can't accept the explanation.

Your main problem is that you don't understand reality and you think you are living in a fairytale land. Allah SWT made Ibn Maslama (RA) assassinate him because he wanted to teach future Muslim leaders the manner within which a person who is a threat to the Muslims has to be taken care of, that once enough evidence is found that an individual is activately fighting Islam and enticing men to assault the Muslim women, then the Amir does not need the approval of an entire Shura in order to execute the command of assassination against that person. The United States does exactly what Rasulallah SAW did; after the CIA collected enough information on how potentially dangerous Osma bin Laden was to the USA's international interests, Bill Clinton gave the order to assassinate him without holding Osama bin Laden on trial. Barack Obama did the same thing in 2011&2012 when he ordered Navy Seals to shoot ibin Laden within his own compound and when he ordered the military to send out drones and shoot hellfire missiles onto Anwar Al Awlaki's pickup truck when he was leaving his house, and Anwar Al Awlaki, too, was not given a trial, nor was his assassination discussed in Congress nor the House of Representatives.

My sister in Islam. We as Muslims should submit our wills to our prophet "pbuh" he knows what he's doing. Allah "Subhanahu wa taalaa" gave him authority. He is our prophet we should defend him no matter what dear sister. There things we do not understand as human beings but we shouldn't doubt our prophet my dear sister. I hope this helps you

here we go again. you're doing the exact same thing with my response as you are with our religion. there really is no point in carrying on if you yourself want to be ignorant we will have it your way. the difference between you and I is, i don't judge a hindu for believing in his religion and i also give him the right (which i deserve) and that is that he is allowed to believe his religion is true. " you are parochial, judgemental and hateful just like mohammed has taught you. " lets entertain this thought. you seem to have no problem with that (and i quote from you, previous comment) "As I said he is truly one of the greatest leader purely based on the evidence of what we see in front of us" at least with hindus i can call them my brothers in faith, but people like you, i really can't relate to you, unfortunately. and I'm going to be a excellent healer. and i will heal you, if you call, and i will heal all that require my service. enough has been said. good day to you.

Kahan Bodur You say "f your so blind as to compare a quasi religion such a hinduism where they make gods for almost every aspect which suits them best then we really don't need the likes of you in islam now do we?". That statement comes right out of the indoctrination and brainwashing of islam of the "other". And that is exactly what islam does to clean the slate from 6th century and rewrite everything of the latest message from Allah. The one time muslims suspended this zombification and opened their minds and accepted knowledge from the kafirs they flourished. You are a medical professional and you judge the hindus based on how they worship as a direct influence of islam with the medical training not having impact on you intellecutual faculties to be open and acceptance of the other instead you are parochial, judgemental and hateful just like mohammed has taught you.

Something to mention just to uncover the lies: "He (Muhammad) never kept any males Slaves, whenever slave that he got he freed that slave." "These are the names of Muhammad's male slaves: Yakan Abu Sharh, Aflah, 'Ubayd, Dhakwan, Tahman, Mirwan, Hunayn, Sanad, Fadala Yamamin, Anjasha al-Hadi, Mad'am, Karkara, Abu Rafi', Thawban, Ab Kabsha, Salih, Rabah, Yara Nubyan, Fadila, Waqid, Mabur, Abu Waqid, Kasam, Abu 'Ayb, Abu Muwayhiba, Zayd Ibn Haritha, and also a black slave called Mahran, who was re-named (by Muhammad) Safina (`ship')." Ibn Qayyim Zad al-Ma'ad, pp. 115 "Mohammed had many male and female slaves. He used to buy and sell them, but he purchased more slaves than he sold, especially after God empowered him by His message, as well as after his immigration from Mecca. He once sold one black slave for two. His name was Jacob al-Mudbir. His purchases of slaves were more than he sold. He was used to renting out and hiring many slaves, but he hired more slaves than he rented out." pp.160 and also: " ...So I went to the upper room where the Prophet was and requested to a black slave of his: "Will you get the permission of (Allah's Apostle) for Umar (to enter)? The slave went in, talked to the Prophet about it..." Sahih Bukhari Hadith 2468 there is also a balck slave called called Anjasha And he even enslaved a free slave again: A man decided that a slave of his would be manumitted after his death and later on he was in need of money, so the Prophet (ﷺ) took the slave and said, "Who will buy this slave from me?" Nu'aim bin `Abdullah bought him for such and such price and the Prophet (ﷺ) gave him the slave. Sahih Bukhari Hadith 2141

This is not a lie. How easily u misunderstood all the hadith. Prophet s.a.w never kept slaves, he frees all of them and they voluntarily stayed with Him because of His good character and manners. The last hadith h have referred, in it Prophet s.a.w was making a light heart joke with him and by slave he meant slave of Allah. We r all slaves of Allah. Please refine ur understanding about hadith better. Study with a teacher. Then reply.

And how come attacking a far away caravan was justified on moral reason. He was a prophet, shud have been happy in madina with his ppl, why was he sending his men to loot quraishs? How can this be justified? Your best defence would be “whatever he did is binding to us, Allah did not send any wahi, so he approved looting of Caravan”. Ohh sorry, ganimat as you said😲😲😲😲😲 strange that allah was happy seeing his followers looting others..

@Sumit Walia there is a slavery of west which was inhumane , and slavery of muslims which worked only with captives of war You find it problematic ,so concentration camp or jail is better ?? Because it is the second alternative Only those people would be taken captives who used to come in battle Taking as slaves free people , those non reluctant to fight was prohibited by Prophet in a hadith Slaves were treated as brother not sexually abused I said he never attacked reluctant to fight people and took them captives

@Saim Tanweer come on man. You are simply avoiding the direct questions. I, a lowly human, finds everything wrong with slavery (especially women because they were abused sexually) and it is not that no one hated slavery at that time, so how come he did not see inhumane arrangement in slavery? How come he allowed his men to keep possessions & women of defeated village as war booty? Which human with Some moral value (leave aside one who claims to be God’s chosen messanger) would appreciate that? Will a ruler or chieftain will- yes, of course.

So the man said “allow me to lie” and the prophet approved therequest to kill an enemy. Why r u trying to compare it with tge US drone atrikes to justify the immoral way to get rid of enemy. How does it suit the conduct of a prophet who came to enlighten the “jahalee” tribals. You r simply saying “it was right because the prophet did it”. That means nothing can be questioned on even moral basis. The guy has a blanket approval to do anything he likes. Your best ( and the ONLY) defence is “allah did not send down a wahi (that too would come to the man who authorised the killing), so allah was also OK with it.” How convenient!!
