R.I.P the fallen brothers I think it's funny no history teachers brought up the fact the pope at the time blamed The Templars for everything that happened during the Crusades so he wouldn't die.

It's possible some of the "initiation rituals" for the knights templar were attempts to train the recruits of the order in how to withstand interrogation, torture and attempts at being forced to convert to Islam, these were frontline soldiers after all. The fall of Acre in 1291, left no settlement in the Middle East in Christian hands so they were an army without purpose and some kings like Phillip IV (who owed a lot of money to the order and all but controled the papacy) worried that the templars might try to carve out their own kingdom from French territory as the price for defaulting on his loan.

Possible also the Strict rules reguarding what they can and can't do makes a whole lot more sense when you consider military training and conduct and the fact Knights are not exactly known to be the most diciplined people out there.

They found books of magic that Prophet Suleiman or King Solomon hid. They took them and started reenacting the rituals. They laid the foundation of Freemasonry

Probably not an actual quote but its likely due to tensions at the time, though ironically if the Templar lived in Jerusalem he was more progressive than his pears in Europe.

I hate hearing how terribly their own country betrayed them, even if the Crusades themselves had dubious use toward forwarding the Christian faith and in fact violated the only tenant of Christianity - to love your god and fellowman (above all else). Europe didn't care for that prohibition, I suppose.

This is around the time of the medieval Renaissance when the Catholic Church religion was tied to state laws which also expelled Christian cultural practices..this was also the birth of the knights Templar which was a fierce military that protected the Christian faith when it was under heavy persecution .. the cofounder was Hugues de Payens or Payns (9 February 1070 - 24 May 1136) Headquarters: Jerusalem was the co-founder and first Grand Master of the Knights Templar

I wonder if how devastating the First Crusade march across Europe on it's own people effected the amount of pilgrims being attacked heading to the holy land.

The crusades was launched after the davestating defeat of the byzantines in Anatolia for nearly 450 years the Christian kings of the west or in Byzantium never thought of raconquring Jerusalem except during focas rule the Christian population in Jerusalem surrounded the city the caliphate during omar ra rule with more than acceptable conditions until some mad fatimid ruler alhakim destroyed the church tof holy sculpture and roaming irregular bands of turkish nomads started attacking the Christian pilgrimage roads it was a mini Mongolian invasion just without the mass slaughter and shamanic or let me say lesser so I can't believe that Jerusalem only triggered the crusades it was a legitimszation of it to be more acceptable to ordinary European and maybe some bious nobiltues in Europe beacuse if it was defending the Christian faith Iberia or Sicily or north Africa was muchore threat to Europe than defending the orthodox church that the pope in Rome wanted so hard to annex into his realm
