In the first version of this story I heard, Circe has a magic fountain on her island, and if you look into that fountain, you will see yourself transform into a specific kind of animal, depending on your personality. When Odysseus looks into that fountain, he sees himself transforming into a fox.

From one interpretation I heard. Circe brought the men to her house. She put fourth a wonderful feast, but the men tired and hungry from their journey ate like pigs. So she turned them into pigs.

In musical number EPIC, the reason why Circe turn them into pigs was to protect Nymphs. Once upon time, before Odysseus crew, some men came and harmed one her Nymphs, so from then on, Circe doesn't trust strangers. I kinda prefer that version.

The Aging of people in The Iliad and the Odyssey are very similar to the lifespans of Abraham and Sarah from the Bible which makes sense because the historical Trojan War happened a few centuries after Abraham and a little bit after he's descendants so people were still able to live that long

Before I saw this video, I commented this on another (but I'd still like to see one on Circe's family; parents, grandparents, siblings; they're a fascinating family): Great video. I would LOVE to see a video done on the four witch children of Lord Helios and the nymph Perse. Their kids were Aeetes, Perses, Pasiphae, and of course Circe. Circe was the nymph Odysseus resided with for a year (prior to his meeting Calypso) and she bore his son Telegonus. Aeetes had the Golden Fleece and his daughter Medea was the wife of Jason from the Argonauts. Perses went to Persian where he married a goddess and raised demons. Pasiphae married Minos and also gave birth to the Minotaur. And Circe was the witch who turned the nymph Scylla into the monster of lore and Glaucos into a god. Their Mother Perse was also fascinating, being a daughter of Oceanos and Tethys, two old Titans. Helios is interesting, as he and his father in law Oceanos joined the Olympians against their fellow Titans. Many think it is because he had prophetic powers and knew Zeus and the Olympians would win. Much of the blood from that war (ichor) gave rise to the magic herbs or pharmakeia that these withces utilized to make magic (pharmakis is witch). They also could use regular common herbs. Their family fascinates me. Oceanos's halls and river that girdles the earth, and his wife Tethys, are also captivating.

I hope in the next episode of the Odyssey when Odysseus heads to hades, he meets with the ghost of Achilles, where he tells him that he is regretful for dying so young and would wish to still be alive, even if his name was erased from history, along with finding Agamenon in hades as well, before he finds Tyresius the prophet, which will tell him the route back to Ithaca.
