Please, everyone, it is more important than you can imagine. Please, trust me. The Bible is all true. There are very important secret things inside it, those things cannot be learned by someone who does not genuinely break down. God has minimum effort marks you’re not hitting. Please read at least three books of the Bible and as you do practice forgiveness. Start with your parents. They’re easiest, and starting their will make more possible. Please, you must listen to me. I know how this sounds, and you’re not getting the urgency I’m trying to transmit. Please, immediately, as quickly as possible, break down before Jesus Christ and ask for forgiveness. Please do these things. It is for your best interest. Please, trust me for a couple hours of your life. Do these things and see what I’m talking about. You must look personally to see the truth. Please, I am begging. Please.

As someone who’s dabbled in Greek mythology, I’m usually more fond of the idea of Aphrodite and Ares being together. I really appreciate how there's clear implications that while both Ares and Aphrodite do/did like each other, they both contributed to the problems of their relationship, rather than just Ares being a one-sided jerk (bc _that_ tends to go hand-in-hand with Aphrodite being shallow as she's only with him for his looks 😒). So, this portrayal is so refreshing and, I think, gives the characters a lot more depth.
@ghsty93892 жыл бұрын
Aphrodite and ares did actually love each other in Greek mythology. Aphrodite did not just love ares for his looks, she loved him more than just that, and Ares isn’t a terrible person to Aphrodite in the myths either, ares was the only true person that Aphrodite truely loved, and this is very meaningful because Aphrodite is literally the god of love. Along side that Ares is literally the ONLY male god who has not raped someone. And was also considered the father of the Amazon’s.

Sometimes he's depicted with bent or crooked legs, metal legs that serve as prosthetics he made himself, or no legs at all. Also fun fact: his daughters name is Pandora. If the name sounds family. Ha! Aphrodite catching her foot on the chains was a nice touch. For context, after Aphrodite and Hephaestus ‘married’, Ares and Aphrodite had an affair. Hephaestus wasn’t exactly pleased with that, so when Aphrodite and Ares went to continue their affair, Hephaestus trapped them both in fine chains he had draped around the bedroom and displayed their affair to the whole pantheon. (Apollo and Hermes though it was hilarious).

I said this before, but I am really happy with the fact that they portrayed Aphrodite and Hephaestus as a loving couple here. The original legend shows that she considered him ugly and inferior (Just like many other gods), hating the fact that she had to marry him by force. And when Hephaestus made "the net" to catch Ares and Aphrodite committing adultery, it was kind of like he was a "resentful and vindictive" god because he exposed them to the rest of the gods since she cheated on him, or at least I felt it that way. Thanks for doing another version of this story, I think that Aphrodite being with Hephaestus by choice would have been a sign of how love is not determined by someone's looks, and even "the ugliest" person can make the prettiest feel the most beautiful in the world. P.D: I would love to "audition" to be the voice of a god, is there a way to do it? :D Merci Beaucoup!
@BabyGirlTiny2 жыл бұрын
I mean, in mythology she was forced to be with him. She didn’t marry him out of love so I don’t know how you got that from them.
@taviondavis12932 жыл бұрын
I agree with AJ...I mean everyone saw Hephaestus as ugly, and technically speaking he was inferior to her. Hephaestus is a god who was born after Hera made a child of her own (without Zeus) in retaliation of his constant adultery. Aphrodite on the other hand was born from the froth whipped up by the castrated loins of Ouranos (the former king of the universe and primordial of the heavens (sky)). Also, her powers charmed any god or mortal regardless of their power. Even Zeus, the most powerful god of the gods, couldn't resist her charm and had a child with her named Priapos. However, at the end of the day Hephaestus was the one who forced Aphrodite to marry him after Zeus owed him a favor. That favor being the release of his own mother who he held hostage in a throne of his creation.
@elmurodedavid2 жыл бұрын
@@taviondavis1293 I guess y'all are right. I don't know. I suppose that tiny part of me feels Hephaestus was always criticized by his mother (Hera) and because of his condition, he was perceived as inferior by many other deities. Furthermore, I suppose that it also makes me feel bad for him since that part believes that Aphrodite had it easier than him, but that's an opinion, of course. Greek Mythology is a fairy tale or something where we can say people are treated fairly.
@annabourbon2 жыл бұрын
@@elmurodedavid I think none of them had anything easier or better. Because one of them was seen as inferior and "ugly" And the other one was "the beautiful" and superior, which also takes a toll because you don't know who looks after the real you, so she having lots of lovers and cheating on them can be depicted as her having major insecurities because of how everyone looks at her. This video was very subtle about it when it mentioned "the gift" but it's true.
@endor8witch2 жыл бұрын
yeah..you do know that the original story is not great...i mean, imagine being married to aphrodite and her openly sleeping with other gods and men...how would you feel? and aphrodite was forced to marry him anyway, so the original story is really 2 people who are forced to be together and in a toxic relationship

There is a lot to love about this. And I mean a lot. One is that both Ares and Aphrodite contribute to why their relationship doesn't work here. Maybe at one point they did, and they just drifted until they were only ever getting together because they were used to it, if Ares comment about how she would get bored of the others and come back to him eventually like always and how he isn't even smug, just resigned to it. Heck, maybe it never was working and they just reached the point where it's impossible to ignore. Another is that Aphrodite doesn't go into the workshop intentionally. She just kept going until she found somewhere that felt like a safe place to cry, not even realizing what it was. Maybe it isn't intentional, but it feels like foreshadowing for the fact that soon Hephaestus will represent someone she feels safe and comfortable with. Another is that Hephaestus isn't treated as just a smith, but an artist in his craft. I feel like he doesn't get enough credit in that regard in most depictions these days. Of course, the biggest thing is how Aphrodite and Hephaestus interact. In mythology their relationship isn't even on the rocks, it's buried under them. Here we see him give her a tour, showing his work to her, and her genuinely enjoying herself. She's actually interested and listening, and not reluctant about it at any point, contradicting Ares' claim about her being self-absorbed. Finally, the belt. When Aphrodite is feeling upset once more over Ares (and not even jealous or mad, just heartbroken), she is cheered up once more by Hephaestus, who not only of course made the belt for her, and took her recommendation about the pearls, but managed to get it to her without her realizing it for no reason other than it always being meant as a gift and hoping to make her happy. And it does, not just due to the physical gift, but the kindness in it. I do hope that Aphrodite and Ares both realize that what they have isn't good and that she gets with Hephaestus. They are now an OTP for me in this series.

It's a beautiful series! I love how you transformed the gods and referenced some myths with small details. And the fact that it feels a bit like the myths at the same time it feels new and refreshing, adapted to a high school type of story is also very interesting and fun. I liked how you wrote the relationships here, Ares and Aphrodite have this tone that feels like a lot of relationships between teenagers, both parts may like each other a lot, but some times they hurt each other, which can make a relationship fail. Hephaestus and Aphrodite is also interesting, because it's clear he likes her, and they feel sweet and cute, and I'm just a sucker for that, but knowing the myths, I don't know were this is going and I'm a bit insecure. I also love the characters on their own. Aphrodite feels sweet, gentle and dreamy, but also a bit jealous, insecure and confused at times, which is amazing because it's EXTREMELY easy to make her either this angel who is extremely generous and sweet or this selfish, manipulative godess who cares only about beauty and herself, when in reality, she's very human, being flawed and doing both good and bad things. I can say the same for Ares, his cockiness, meanness and anger issues aren't healthy, but he feels hurt when he's insulted, has fear and want's to be liked. Hephaestus is the only one till now that we had seen mostly the sweetest, most caring and cute side, but the "it's not finished yet." for most of his works is very relatable for artists, and it's very funny too, he is creative and loves what he does, but is a bit insecure about his talent. I'm not sure if this is still the case, but if you're still working alone animating the series, I hope you can contract a team of artists soon. Keep going because it's a very amazing show💕.

this gives me Ever After High vibes in terms of quality with the animation. the lighting, the movements, the slight bounce in their hair - it's so crisp and clean and on point and professional. also, did you model Hephaestus off of Disney's Hercules? because with the red hair, bronze clothing and adorkable nature, I'm seeing some parallels. great job, you should be very very proud.
@TamaraKane Жыл бұрын
It's actually rotoscoped on The Little Mermaid and Aladdin and possibly more, but definitely those two. Hephaestus is modeled on Ariel on the beach after she gets her legs. The sculpture is the statue of Eric made golden and Greek. When Aphrodite runs and falls down crying, that's Princess Jasmine crying when she thinks Aladdin has died. Then when Aphrodite is behind the pillar/column, having caught the two lovebirds, that's Ariel catching Vanessa cozying up to Eric. I hope it won't get flagged by Disney because it's still pretty.

I can't emphasize enough how much I love this show and how much I specifically needed this video right now. My bf is working on a Greek mythology comic series with Aphrodite as the main character, so your take on her personality and relationships is so inspiring. Though the comic will be for mature audiences only and the art style/storyline is of course very different, it's great creative timing to see something involving these characters that's THIS high-quality. (I'd say you should be working for Disney, but tbh your stuff is better than anything they've come out with in at least the past ten years.) What a lovely surprise to see this pop up! I'll admit, I'm a hardcore fan of Aphrodite/Ares; I have been since I was little since there's so much to them being together and why it makes sense when you consider metaphors and meanings in the myths, so at first, I was like "aw man, another story where they're not together" and I do get tired of the "Ares is a jerk" trope in reiterations (but here, it works since they're all in high school and you can expect it lol). However, I do want to say this is the only version of Hephaestus/Aphrodite that is so good, that I can fully get onboard--they're really sweet in this version! I'm just excited to see more from you! Here's a bit of Greek knowledge, as I understand it. Hephaestus was chucked from Olympus by Zeus's wife Hera, that's where he got his limp. He landed in a volcano and became an amazing smith, creating wonderous works of metal and stone. He made a throne for Hera and went back to Olympus. Hera, so ashamed, accepted the gift and welcomed him back, but when she sat in the throne she was stuck. Hephaestus was angry and wanted his rightful place in the pantheon of gods, and Aphrodite's hand in marriage. Zeus, seeing his great works and potential accepted and married him and Aphrodite. They lived happily as a wedded couple, a marriage protected by Zeus himself. As thanks, Hephaestus forged the lightning bolt for Zeus as well as many other wonderous items.
