Sega Genesis Console Restoration | Mega Drive Retro Tech Repair

I purchased a "broken" Sega Genesis / Mega Drive for $15 and refurbished it in this video. I’m a big fan of retro tech, so I was thrilled to see this console for so cheap. It smelled awful, and was a bit sticky, but it ended up cleaning up pretty well, except for the bottom of the casing.

Thank you, I bought one at a great deal, cleaned it up and it was the reset button giving it problems.

The pain I felt when you ripped those cables from that pin connector. Been there except the entire connector came off of my ps1. Specifically it was the motor connector.

My Sega Genesis Model 1 High Definition Graphic got a rust in the back can it be removed?

Thanks! I thought about getting silver leaf or using model paint, but I couldn’t think of a way to get a perfectly smooth finish so I decided to leave it alone for now

@@RestorationRelaxation Like your work! You need a better iron ;) I do restoration work myself, I bought a Flysea Liquid Chrome paint pen for exactly this kind of thing, experiment with it a little first but they work a treat :)

Thank you! My iron was actually my dad’s from back in the day so I kind of love that it’s worked so long. I’ll check out that paint pen, I had a hard time finding a solid solution so I appreciate the suggestion!

@@RestorationRelaxation oh yeah, nothing better than a vintage tool I suppose ;) Perhaps a new tip would do it some good though, they loose their chooch. You might have to prep the plastic first with some Iso as you put the restorer on.

9:01 so this is how you fix wires that had that little pastic thing connected to them? This is a bit off topic but i ended up having the same issue on a ps2 slim. I broke the fan where it plugs into the motherboard. So i can just solder the wires back or is it a different case since it's a fan and not an led light? I couldn't find an answer anywhere
