@@michaelromeo9567 sometimes the music is clearly superior on the Turbo, beyond the main table tune, stage 2/5 with the amazing organ-like sound, the best five theme with those sample chorus, sounds OUTSTANDING for the PCE, and idk, but I think that I preferer the stage 3 a little bit more than the MD version, due to the "go" voice sample (or whatever it´s called) on the tune. Even though I like the graphics of the original PC-Engine version better, the remade Mega Drive soundtrack truly kicks ass, and shows the strength of FM synthesis against the limited wavetable sound of the PC-Engine. But then again, you need the fabulous composer(s) from Technosoft to achieve this.
@zanegandini53508 жыл бұрын
+porcorosso81 I wouldn't say this makes the PC Engine version sound limited, and truth be told it wasn't as limited as you might think.
@yohkom.79888 жыл бұрын
+porcorosso81Actually the Mega Drive version looks better as a whole, the main table maybe not though it still looks great but everything else (the bonus stages in particular!) has been vastly improved graphically. Also the Mega Drive version runs in higher resolution. I heard that it even has an exclusive stage but I have to see about that.
@yohkom.79888 жыл бұрын
+Zane Gandini The PC Engine soundtrack is impressive for sure but most music sound better on Mega Drive not to mention that version has more tracks! The PC Engine version reuses some music as well as some backgrounds from one bonus stage to another. About the PC Engine sound being limited, yes and no. I grew up with a PC Engine and it has some of my favorite soundtracks but I dig the Mega Drive only since recently and it's quite a revelation! Compare most multiplat, they almost always sound better on Mega Drive, more rich and often with nice instrumentations. Outrun, After Burner or Aero Blasters for examples.

Wow, the main table theme in here is much more pleasant to the hearing than the Mafiano Tucanozo upload that's relatively popular in views! Something about the first moments of the theme don't seem as high pitched. I guess that's the difference between emulated crap and real hardware 😉
@mahayr.f.531410 жыл бұрын
The MD emulation nowadays is perfect, if you use KEGA Fusion or Genesis GX Plus under RetroArch, as a hardcore fan of MD, I don't hear any notable differences.
@DUSTINODELLOFFICIAL9 жыл бұрын
***** Cycle accuracy isn't actually a guarantee of great emulation, just a way to get closer. The 1.0 Exodus at least is actually an all around "worse" (I'm being subjective here) emulator than Genesis Plus GX for gaming. Though for what it's worth it's the only emulator I've ever seen that actually shows artifacts like the "CRAM dots" like the real hardware does. I'm excited about it though, the debuggers & active disassembly are pretty great and have been great for my hacking & homebrew experiments. The Genesis is all around emulated quite well compared to some consoles. There are for example more, better Genesis emulators than SNES emulators--the only really accurate SNES emulator is bsnes/higan and the others are playing catch-up. For Genesis we've got Kega, Regen, Genplus-gx, Exodus... I'm still going to say that for music the real hardware is always going to be preferable because how does one compete with perfection? I may be biased though. :)
@DUSTINODELLOFFICIAL9 жыл бұрын
I'm of the other school of thought, where accurate audio/video reproduction is more important, and everything else follows. But with CPUs getting faster all the time, the gap is going to close anyway. Of course, the cycle accuracy of Exodus actually does allow for a more accurate video emulation (including its quirks and faults), so it ultimately kind of converges I guess. 100% agree with you on the preservation aspect, I don't expect the game companies to really care about this and it kind of ends up getting left to enthusiasts. I'm glad there are people out there putting the kind of work into it that they are.

TheLegendOfRenegade Unfortunately I don't have a lot of the recordings I've made since updating operating system and whatnot. I would like to put up download links for all my recordings but I don't have the time to go back and do it now. I may rerecord this one & Thunder Force IV on my MegaAmp'd Genesis 2--if I do that I will put up high quality mp3's with it. I may start doing this with all my uploads but a lot of my uploads are more popular than others as well. It's a dilemma. If you use youtube-dl (google it) you can get a high quality AAC file of my video, I don't know if that helps any but it might be quicker than waiting on me.
@TheLegendofRenegade9 жыл бұрын
DUSTINODELLOFFICIAL I do have a KZbin downloader but was always skeptical about the quality, will check that youtube-DL out. @DUSTINODELLOFFICIAL9 жыл бұрын
Hey I've been there too with the emulator rips. I mainly have been trying to provide a good alternative to that! If you try youtube-dl out (it's a commandline tool) there is an option to download what is called DASH audio, there is a high-bitrate AAC stream that should be one generation removed from what I uploaded (i.e. the same audio you hear from the video itself).

Mod has a small downside though, it's pretty quiet. You will have to turn your TV/sound system up to compensate
@eric900008 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot for the reply. I was thinking it might be from pin 1 & 8 on the Sony A1034 chip alright. Do you think there's much of a difference (besides volume) compared to the headphone jack itself? I'm wiring in an RGB bypass board and am trying to find the best spot to get audio from. Thanks again!
@DUSTINODELLOFFICIAL8 жыл бұрын
Eric Hurley If memory serves me right those are the pins. The main difference between the headphone jack is the output is less distorted and the volume won't be affected by the volume slider. Like I said though it's quieter, but not that big of a deal. It is the best place to get stereo out of the model 1 short of recreating the original A/V output circuit on another LM358 amplifier. Even compared to recreating the amplifier it should offer a cleaner output, even if it is quieter.
