The Power Strike games are great shooters. They are actually Aleste 1 & 2 in Japan. They were renamed for US and Europe. The follow up games in the series are M.U.S.H.A., Space Megaforce, and Robo Aleste, which all share the same gameplay.

@@mikematei you might want to push the both buttons when playing power strike so you can shoot your secondary weapon as well as your primary. Each number is a change of secondary weapon. 8 is a pretty powerful one for example.

A Genesis controller works fine on most SMS games. To make it work on all of your games, do the following mod: open the controller, then clip the gray wire that goes to the buttons. Now it will work with all of your SMS games (but not all of your Genesis games).

TecToy did what they could to port Genesis games to Sega Mastersystem. The MS and Genesis were extremely popular and continued to be produced today in Brazil as its the cheapest alternative to the horrific import tax of out of country developed systems and games. This is also why Brazil is a Mecca for Piracy and Bootlegs. Hell even Need For Speed got ported to the Genesis at one point there.

The hardware in the game gear is almost chip for chip that of the master system. There is even an official sega adapter to play master system games on a game gear, I had one back in the early 90s. Many of the later master system games, like mortal kombat, are ports of game gear games and by port I mean putting the rom in a master system cart.

The original arcade version of The Ninja/Sega Ninja was called Ninja Princess and you played Princess Kurumi who was royalty but also a ninja. I don't know how well it played but having a girl as the main character in a game wasn't that common in 1985. Obviously, there had already been Ms. Pac-Man but Ms. Pac-Man wasn't a human ninja warrior, she's just a circle with a triangle mouth and lipstick.

Scrolling through the comments, I'm surprised I've only seen one person mention that the glitches you're seeing in some games is because they were meant for PAL region. In fact, pretty much all Master System releases after Sonic the Hedgehog didn't see a North American release, since the console flopped here, but was a big it in the UK and Brazil. Considering that, it seems odd to me why those ROMs were listed as (UE) for US and Europe instead of just (E) for Europe. It it was released after 1991, I'm pretty sure we never got it. Anyway, for those "glitchy" games, you'll need a PAL Master System to play them without glitches.

With The Ninja, only use the shoot forward button and always approach enemies from in front (never let them get behind and try shooting then at angles) also both buttons at the same time make you go invisible! It's a good game but tough, and you must find all secret scrolls to compete it, which you want a guide for. You can use a mega drive controller, I don't have an official one but it's really nice and is 6 button, I'll have to see what brand it was (it's from back in the day)

Renegade is from Technos, the company behind Double Dragon, River City Ransom, and Super Dodge Ball. Genesis Shadow Dancer was to arcade/SMS SD as NES Ninja Gaiden to arcade NG: different but superior. But damn I didn't know SMS had all these games. It was great watching these SMS streams since it was the console I grew up with. Seemed like a ton of games than I remembered being released, so it made me bust out wikipedia and see the US only had about 120 games released for it. The EU had over a 150 more released on its own. I think most of these were Genesis or Game Gear games ported given the release dates after 1990, like Mortal Kombat, Streets of Rage and the Sonic games. Only Sonic 1 ported in US to the SMS. I think I saw someone else note a lot of games were ported for Brazil SMS only by that TecToy company. The more you know... Thanks again for the trip down memory lane!

Hey Mike, around 2:29:32 when you're talking about good Sonic games to play and you mentioned you like Sonic Spinball (Pinball) there's a Sonic game I have on my little knock off Sega Genesis Mini by "At-Games"......I'm not sure if you've ever played it, but "Sonic 3D Blast" for the Sega Genesis is a fun game i.m.o. it's a pretty simple concept so you're Sonic and you walk around these different worlds and you basically just avoid being hit by things and there's enemies you have to bounce on their head and then collect these little different colored birdies that then follow around you in orbit and after going around and collecting like 5 or 6 of these birdies you go to this giant golden ring and jump onto it and it collects the birds and then you can either move onto more of that same stage but different area or you go and progress to the next new level....and Sonic still has his fast spin move and you see Tails and Knuckles in the game I never heard of it until a few years back when I got this mini Genesis and tried that game out it's actually pretty fun and simple but it gets harder and there's a good amount of levels I've never beaten it yet, but you should really play that game one day on twitch live!! (And then upload it to KZbin...because I don't have Twitch lol)
