@14:27 one of the best games on the sega cd. If you like sci-fi, cyberpunk, or detective stories you owe it to yourself to play Snatcher. If you don’t then give it a try anyway, it’s charming enough that it might win you over.

The Sega CD was a fantastic system. Hopefully it will be appreciated more now as a retro system because of all the great games. Thanks! ***Update*** With Sega's lasted mini console, the Sega Genesis 2, Sega has sprinkled in some great Sega CD titles on the system but they have held back titles from the Japanese release like the Lunar series and Popful Mail. Hopefully this is a way for Sega to re-introduce the Sega CD to the masses in preparation for a dedicated Sega CD mini console release including those titles and more. That would be a great way to finally re-release Snatcher. One can only hope.

@@vincevice1398 i had a SegaCD when it was new. i pre-ordered it.. I HATED IT. lol It was either shitty FMV games with horrible quality or Genesis games with CD audio. Saturn and Dreamcast were WAY better systems by far.

@@mrburns366 the comparison is invalid, as the Mega/Sega CD is merely an add-on while both the saturn AND the dreamcast are standalone consoles. If you want to make a VALID comparison, do it between the N64 DD, the 32-X, the Jaguar CD & such

@@mrburns366 nobody told you to like whatever we like, it's about valid comparisons - I never had a mega cd as it was way too expensive back then - prefered to get a sega saturn instead, altho several rpgs were left out & got no pal release, like Albert's Odyssey & Magic Knight Rayearth, as well as others like Herc's Adventures sigh

Great games and all, but don't be mislead about Batman and Robin. The first game here, The Adventures of batman and Robin looks like a dream, but is one of the worst games you will ever play. Sega lord X did a great video that echoed my sentiments exactly. Very disappointing. Not worth the time to download. I deleted that trash it was unusually unfinished and unimaginative. The game play is exactly what you *don't* want in a racing combat game. The first time i played it in the old days I figured I was missing something but after really digging in a couple years back I absolutely hate the game. I really wanted to like it as the Sega CD is kind of this holy grail from my teens and the more great games the better; but...ehhh... it's just an all around heartbreaker.

It would have been much better if they had just done a true, enhanced version of the cart game using true scaling and totation effects. Stick in the awful racing bits if you must, but have the option to play full game, platform only and racing only. Simple. Could have been incredible. But nooooo, yet another idiotic SoA fuck up.

@@segasonic9117 Agreed. That's definitely the main problem; but it would also be nice if the driving wasn't so awkward and unimaginative. I love racing games, and racing games where you run into things is also great, but man...the way you are constantly bombarded and all that removes any joy one might have from driving fast. The idea was cool, Batman weaving in and out of traffic at high speed, and it looked great but it doesn't play "fun." You never feel cool doing it as you get better at it, you just feel like a fool getting pies in the face the whole time. But yeah, definitely you should be able to choose, that skill switching stuff never worked outside of arcade bonus round type situations where it doesn't really count against you and is mainly for fun and keeping the energy level high. It's like Bayou Billy, wanted to love it, bought it as a kid, played it for years. I liked everything about Bayou Billy but that. The fact you had to complete the fighting, driving, and shooting stages in order switching between them. It just screws up your momentum too much. I see what they were thinking in terms of making home console games have more depth as a medium for story telling using the technology they had then, but that stuff just didn't work out in practice. Edit: Definitely a candidate for a Rom hack.

@@yuvraj01 Sorry, 0% potential, not up for debate even. 1. Yet another new addon console to buy is just silly. 2. They should have invested so much more on the saturn development instead and lengthene the life of Mega CD instead. No brainer. Sega killed themselves as a hardware company by their own hands. Also, Sega did not developed the saturn good enough for 3d games and did not use their titles they owned - for example, no sonic game - unbelievable, It's like Nintendo wouldn't make a Mario game for the N64, can you even think of that? Was hard to develop for, most third party games looked worse than PS. After the Genesis, Sega did not read home gaming correctly. In their mind they were still only an arcade manufacturer and did not address the variety that PS offered. They stopped to evolve as a home gaming company after the Genesis. They lived too much in their own Japanese bubble in some japanese arcade store metaphorically and there was no peace inside the company. Dreamcast was an arcade console for the most part while PS offered everything. Too little too late.

@@amirprog Clearly if they incorperated the 32x tech from the beginning into the Sega/Mega CD then it would definitely have been a formidable system for its time...or release the saturn later (ie 1996 having done the thorough homework on the competition.)and release the Super Sega CD all in one console in 1993....give it a 3 year stint before the Saturn..

​@@yuvraj01 I am a gamer since 1987, Big sega fan. SMS was my first console. I tell it to you from first hand. Sega was as good as the playstation brand today. Nintendo also was as good. Sega though is more like sony because they directed their games more to adults than nintendo. The end began when they decided to release the 32x. Sega put most their efforts on arcade games after the genesis and did not developed enough their home gaming mindset. They had so much great ip's and almost non was released to the Saturn. Even the Mega CD did not get the investment it should have had! Give me Golden axe CD? Give me Streets of rage CD? Streets of rage 4 for the Mega CD? etc. It's just a simple example. It's like after the Genesis they released hardware just for the sake if it, nothing more. No, "you don't leave in Japan" is not an excuse. Even the saturn in japan had mostly added 2d fighting games, again, you see? They focused WAY too much on arcade games and WAY too little on home gaming genres and messed it up with bad hardware decisions. Again, bad decisions and bad investments for HOME gaming. Even most of their arcade games were LEFT ALONE in the arcades, no home ports!

I am a retro collector and bought a CDX as a collector's piece and because of the built in Genesis. I wanted a list of good games for Sega CD so I know what would be good to buy.. and honestly, this list is not that great for a top 30. The majority of good games I can find better versions of on other platforms, and the Sega CD exclusive games are not very compelling. The only ones I might want to get are Lunar, Shining Force, and Snatcher, but the prices are so ludicrous - they aren't worth their prices. If this is 30 of the best Sega CD has to offer, I hate to say this, but the system isn't that great. Sega fans dunk on AVGN for lambasting this system, but he wasn't wrong. Literally nothing looks compelling enough to want to collect for unless you're a blind, rabid Sega fan. (Which there are way too many of.) I like Sega's systems overall, but the Saturn and the Dreamcast were their best. This, not so much. So far every time I visit a list of "good" Sega CD games, I get the same hype for the same bland, boring, unappealing games. And again, the ones that seem worth getting I can either get better versions of on other platforms, or the prices are so insane that they aren't worth collecting. I'm not even interested enough to download them to check them out. I am not trying to be harsh or mean, just my honest opinion as someone who enjoys retro games.
