Sega NASCAR Arcade - Talladega (Hikaru) DEMUL 0.7

Sega NASCAR Racing running on Demul 0.7 emulating the Sega Hikaru arcade board. This is massively improved over the last revision. The game now runs pretty much full speed and the horribly distorted audio I was getting in the old version is now a thing of the past. The odd audio wobble you can hear now is purely from the added strain of video capture.

Same. A friend gifted me the album for my birthday after they saw me gushing about Sonic Adventure's music. Always wondered why the album cover had a NASCAR stock car on it.

Yeah, this runs full speed for me too, especially on my new Asus laptop with i5 6200U and GeForce 940M. I don't really know how to get the manual transmission hooked up, though. Nonetheless, it's cool that I can play NASCAR Arcade at home with thriving music from Crush 40!

The manual transmission can be used by assigning buttons to player 2's up/down/left/right. The same can be said for F355 challenge.

So the song watch me fly is about racing cars. I thought it was about not giving up when times are hard. Crush 40 should do more ballads. Would sound great on my stereo. And in my CD collection.

I could never get over the fact that sometimes we could wipe out the opponent with a single tap, but when we slam to the side of them, they're unaffected and we run into the wall/grass as full speed. :P Can't believe after two years of seeing the first Demul emulation of this, I would actually see this game run at full speed. This seemed like an unreachable goal, considering the Hikaru board was one powerful device.

Chris CC Yeah, I found the slightly odd car physics with regards to collisions to be a lot more noticeable on the Richmond course. It's quite fun to just barrel through all the CPU cars and watch them spin out, but then really weird when a small glancing blow from one of them send you careening into the wall.

Older versions of DEMUL did run NASCAR Arcade with engine sounds, but they had more emulation related glitches in the graphics. It seems like when the devs get something working better, something else breaks in the game: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z57WhKyNjNdorck

And now...sigh...if just someone could get to emulate Virtual On Force on DEMUL...or get to find a dump/dump the game at all, simply because seemingly there isn't one, and it cant be emulated due to that.

+MrThunderwing Fun Fact this almost became a Deal with the dreamcast and EA before Sega Sports Formed. and the fact that the BGM was produced 2 years after Sonic Adventure.

I would play this game at Dave n Buster's. It took a couple of races to figure it out, but you really needed to use the draft. If you stay behind the car in front of you, you actually pick up alot of speed. I reached 210mph and won the race. I had to push the lead car out of the way, but a wins a win.

Warmachine38 Yeah, I know about drafting. If I could compare this game to anything, it's basically a scaled down version of a challenge I came up with for NASCAR Thunder 2003: The Dale Earnhardt Challenge. The challenge was inspired by Dale's run at the end of the 2000 Winston 500 where he managed to come from 17th spot in the last 4 laps to win the race. The rules are, you must play as Dale Earnhardt, you must use a default setup (with the exception of switching to Manual transmission) and you must be on Legend AI. You then have to qualify in last place and work your way through as much of the field as possible in a 3% race, which is the shortest distance you can race in that game. It takes me a whole lot of attempts, but I can win. I know it's not the same game, but if I can move up 42 spots in 5 laps on Thunder '03, then I could probably move up 29 spots in 4 laps here. Now, if only I had a higher end PC to even run DEMUL in the first place...

I also have the EA Sports Nascar games on my PS1.I wish this game has a home release but EA doesn't made there games on the Dreamcast.The Hikaru has a Sega custom 3D gpu.But the Sega Hikaru is EA's last time to work on a Sega system(not the Saturn).The Dreamcast could not do Phong Shading like the Hikaru.The Hikaru's first game Brave Firefighters was the first game to feature Phong Shading.Phong shading was eventually introduced to PC gaming with ATI's Radeon 9700 graphics card.Also Microsoft's Xbox 360 can also do it too.

OK, I've just found out they are assigned in the player 2 keys, (up, down, left and right).

Try checking out a site called Gametronik. If you get a specific error message from DEMUL saying you're missing things from Zip files, try doing a Google search for the thing it says you're missing

Nope. It worked in NASCAR in an older version of the emulator and then stopped working in this one. Dunno why, you'd need to ask the developers.
