Had my Japan Saturn for 4 years. The cartridge slot has been a nightmare for me. I bought a mod chip for most games but still needed the slot to back up saves. This worked instantly, it's 2023 and you're still out here saving lives!

What a great fix and trouble shooting video this is for saturn owners it’s a good thing sega used screws on the cartridge slot and didn’t surface mount it or permanently fix it in place sega always thinking ahead with what they do

Thank you! My Saturn had stopped reading my ram cart correctly after a service. I have cleaned the slot so many times and adjusted the pins before watching your vid and realising that I had over-tightened the slot screws. Upon loosening them up, away it went. Thanks again.

I loosen the screws on mine and still wasn't working. Started doing 1 tight turn at a time until it read mine. Thank you.

This fixed my Saturn! I have a gray Saturn and it wasn't reading the cartridge. But instead of loosing the screw I've tightened it. And it worked! Thanks a lot!

2020 - this still works - just got some hdmi cable for my saturn - hardware was not reading the ram cart - this little adjustment booted the Vs games right up. Thanks.

so the screws being raised up like that keep the cartridge from sinking too far into the slot to make good contact with the pins which means you could probably come up with some kind of shim that could do that without having to loosen screws.

Oh, I forgot to say: the cartridge worked on the FIRST TRY! I never seen this, and I own this cartridge since, I don't know, 1997 or 1998.

It's a weird port allright. I've had the AR4plus since 2000 and have removed it extremely few times, still started acting up. I never did this method but what does work is to not insert the cartridge all the way down (or rather push it all the way down and then pull it up just a little, can't be more than a few millimeters). I think it has the same effect as loosening the screws. It worked for me anyway.

I did wonder why my cartridge slot decided to fail after I disassembled and reassembled my console, after my cartridge working perfectly beforehand... The possibility of the screws being too tight.

I have recently just got some new life into my Saturn thanks to MODE but none of my carts work first time. I have 2 official memory cards that the console refuses to read most of the time. And 3 action replays + (1 with Psudeo which I used to use) Again these don't work all the time. I will try this fix if it works I might fashion a 3D Printed part that is more a permanent fix that can be bolted in.

I'm going to have to give this a shot tonight. My Japanese model is finicky as all hell. I've found that if I put the cart in and stop immediately when I feel any snug resistance, that is the sweet spot. I'm just curious to know how long this fix will last. My plan was to just keep the 1mb cart in the japan Saturn and use the action replay on my us Saturn. just switch consoles depending what game i'm playing. I don't want to wear out the slot any further buy re-inserting carts constantly
