Really nice vid. Needed this ~4 years later. Another reason to play burned CDs is so that you can continue developing games for the saturn. It inspires me to see what the saturn is capable of.

Great video man, thanks for sharing all this info with the community. And for folks like me who still want high quality looking boxes on the shelf, many people online do incredible reproduction cases/manuals that you can get for reasonable prices. Also for those looking to import Saturn games, one nice thing is that most Japanese Saturn games have the English version of the title on the other side of the spine card (the side the CD case opens from) so even if you don't read Japanese you can easily look up on the shelf and see what all your games are without having to pull each one out and look at the cover.

Oh shit, I had no clue you could just mod a cart or buy a preloaded Pseudo Saturn cart for burned games, that's awesome! And US Burning Rangers is exactly the game I thought of too, gonna have to do that for a lot of JRPGs as well, especially Panzer Dragoon Saga and Shining Force III

I just picked up the same white Sega Saturn, an Action Replay card, with a handful of Japanese games. Can't wait to jump into Policenauts, the Panzer series, Elevator Action, and anything I can get my Sega hands on.

great video. I plan on getting one of the flashed Action Replays soon. Retro games have gotten way too expensive. I've heard Panzer Dragoon Saga doesn't work with Pseudo Saturn, though.

Yeah, I have unfortunately heard the same thing about PDS on Pseudo Saturn :( though I've heard there are a few rips of the game out there that can work with it.

I use the Pseudo Saturn and recently bought a repro of PDS (English version) off Etsy. I'm still on the first disc, but so far it has worked perfectly. I think there was an update for Pseudo Saturn to make PDS playable. Source; www.theisozone.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=64601

Great video!! Two questions...I just got my pseudo Saturn in the mail. Any recommendations on where I should go to find rims of saturn games? Also I really want to play policenauts with the English patch; how did you go about installing patches on a burned disc? Any help you could provide would be great, btw you got a sub from me!! Peace!
@pt_samurai4747 жыл бұрын
Google is going to be your best bet for the "rims" ;) As for patching Policenauts, I followed this tutorial policenauts.net/english/patches.html be sure to click on the readme file (tutorial starts in section 3). Hope that helps!

Just as an update, the Sega Saturn emulators are Much Much improved from even last year. (Yabause still blows.) I use the OpenEmu SS emulator on my Macbook Pro and can literally play Every Single game I throw at it. Panzer Dragoon Saga is no longer this all elusive title it used to be, For the Better! I beat Panzer Dragoon Zwei for the first time 2 weeks ago on my computer, one of my new favorite games! I also decided to plunge and get a Japanese Saturn and some games! So excited! Coming in the mail in a week or so! Die Hard Arcade, PDZwei and Burning Rangers have already arrived!

can I play back up copies of games that require the 4mb cartridge at the same time as using an action replay cart? Also do I need to install psuedo saturn on the action replay or is it compatible with back ups out the box? I really want to do what you did and get policenauts.

question if you can, what about games that use multiple disks? like Mr. Bones or Panzer Dragoon? if it tells me to insert disk 2 (or 3 etc), can I simply swap with the other disk that's for 2 3 (etc again lol) or is there some sort of other method I can do? or no?

I'll be honest with you, I've never tested that before. I only have 1 game that requires the 4mb expansion, and I own the original copy (X-Men vs. Street Fighter).

Hi I'm new to the Sega Saturn. My question is do I need to purchase a internal battery for my Japanese white Sega Saturn in order to save a game? I plan on playing RPGs. I have two action replays cartridges 4MB, 1 with Pseudo, and 1 that's untouched. I want to be able to save my games and not have to worry about them being deleted that's what concerns me about the internal battery. I dont know if I Have to have the internal battery replaced in order to save onto the action replay memory cartridge. If someone can give me instructions that would be very helpful.
@DamnDealDone7 жыл бұрын
You need the battery in the Saturn. Action Replay cart is for storing and swapping saves in and out of the Saturn internal memory.
