Nah, I think people over rate the 90’s. I love the musics, movies and games from that decade, but getting a hold of all that media was expensive and a pain in the ass. Also if you were the creative type, it was a massive barrier to get yourself into it. The basement programmer of the 80s with the relatively cheap micro computers were dead in the 80s, you either had parents invest in an expensive PC, or you were stuck with a console, that gave you a limited choice at a high price. Today there are open source apps that run on $100 laptops that let you design little games or play them. Your options to play games is endless, and young people these days totally embrace the 90s games, that breathes life to the old games, and new games in the vein are made. I think this decade is a lot better than the 90s, except for the fact I’m old and have a mortgage to pay for 😅

92 was such a great year that will always hold a special place in my heart. Watching Jordan hit those 3's and watching the Original Dream Team was unforgettable to me. But as far as video games and the SNES goes..... for me...... summer of 92......was the summer of Street Fighter 2! I will never forget getting out of school that summer. I would be spending a couple of weeks with grandma down in NC. My mom had a cool idea why don't you take your SNES down there with you to help keep you company. I thought it was a great idea. So I packed my SNES and my little VHF/UHF tube TV with me. On the way we stopped at Toys R Us and lucky me I got to pick out a game to take with me. I had been following Street Fighter 2 since I had seen it for the first time in arcades the previous fall of 91. I also picked up that GamePro mag with Ryu on the cover earlier in the year in 92 and I still have it today. So when I went inside Toys R Us I had no idea what I was going to get......and there it was....I had no idea it was even out! What!!! I can't believe it! Street Fighter 2! Man I picked up the last one in the store!! When I got the game and got into the car I had no idea the journey I was about to go on and how that day would change my life forever. When I got to grandmas house I got unpacked, hooked my little TV up in her den and my SNES up to it. It was some kids in my grandma's neighborhood that I knew that were around my age and a little bit older that I use to hang with and when they found out I had Street Fighter 2 on the SNES..... .my grandma's house was flooded with kids in the neighborhood. Everyday it was new kids in the city who would come down and knock on my door just because they heard I got Street Fighter 2 on Super Nintendo. I mean my grandma's house had become the neighborhood house for real that summer. Dudes that were younger then me, dudes that was older then me, dudes who was in high school at the time and even a few college kids would come over and play Street Fighter 2 with me. I'm serious all the thugs and dudes who had slapped the teacher they all were welcome to come through and get some of grandma's cooking and play Street Fighter 2 with me! Straight up! Summer of 92! Street Fighter 2! I had both systems back in 92. Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis. The games I picked up in 92 were Legend of the Mystical Ninja earlier in the year, Street Fighter 2 that summer, I got Sonic 2 that fall, and since I'm a December baby so I got Turtles in Time on my birthday and Streets of Rage 2 for Christmas. I was blessed!!!!!!!!

@@edge6441 That's awesome man! During the height of the N64/PS1 era I was in college. We used to have GoldenEye battles in my dormitory. I remember specifically we got sooooooo drunk one night and had a little GoldenEye tournament. After we beat the other team they got so mad that we started play fighting in the room. The play fight spilled out into the hallway and we ran back in the room and locked them out. They kept beating on the door and we wouldn't let them back in. So somebody was like go ahead and let them in. When we did this dude had took a fire extinguisher off the wall in the hallway and came in the room and hosed us down. The fire alarm went off in the building and whole building evacuated! Good times!!!!!!

Yes, Magic Sword is a very good game, but sadly, it's the most underrated game in Capcom's arcade hack n' slash trilogy, people always prefer The King of Dragons or Knights of the Round over Magic Sword, no matter if it is on arcade or Super Nintendo, and it's sad because this game is the only of the three to have platform sections. Many criticized the Super Nintendo version of Magic Sword for having a slower movement of characters compared to the arcade version, but the truth is, I like it better, it feels more real for a human run-walk capabilities and gives more time to visualize the details in each floor of the tower. Another thing that I also like more about the SNES version is the soundtrack, I don't know why, but it reminds me a bit of Castlevania, and well, you know, that's always a success. However, my problem with this port is the lack of some enemies and the slowdowns (I don't need the co-op). Don't get me wrong, the Super Nintendo version is a fun port, but needs work for a restoration patch of enemies and maybe co-op. SA-1, FastROM or a Super-FX patch for remove the slowdowns is very necessary too.

And what made it even more painful was because of its 16 Meg size and the fact that rom chips of that size (well it actually used 2 8 Meg chips) were expensive ad hell, SF2 cost, where I live, a whopping $79.99 which was almost twice the cost of a standard game which was normally $49.99. And of course, with inflation, $79.99 in 1992 dollars would equal just under $170 today. Talk about CRAZY. What's really crazy was that in 1994 I paid $499 for a brand new 3D0 as I waited for the price to drop from $699 so in today's dollars I payed $1000 for the thing. In the next couple of months, Turtles in Time, Super Double Dragon, Street Fighter II, Mario Paint, and Contra III were some of the first games I ever played on the system. The video brought up Thanksgivings and Christmases when cousins, siblings, family friends, and I would gather around the Super Nintendo and play co-op. All of that makes me realize the time. Half the people in the arcade would be gathered around the SFII machine, leaving the other games free for me to take my pick of. Over the weeks and months, the arcade owners would start removing those games, and replacing them with more SFII cabinets. Leaving me with less and less to play.

Also, I'm hoping it will be a reminder for him to put it in his '94 video, if he does one.

The SNES made it to Europe on May/June 1992. I got it that very summer with Super Mario World, and in July I got the import of Street Fighter II, which wouldnt be released in Europe until Xmas... and we had the Olympics in my city, Barcelona that summer. Best summer of my life, and an awesome year to be a gamer, I had both the Megadrive and the SNES so i couldn't ask for more. Great video as always!!

Lots of fond memories of 92. I was still two years off from owning a SNES but my neighbor had it all, often during the release window. We played a lot of pretty much every title mentioned be it rental or outright bought. Hell we spent an entire weekend rolling change we gathered to get enough together to afford A Link to the Past and it was worth every moment.

This was a great time to be a gamer, Sega and Nintendo were in the heat of battle and we got so many great games. On the Sega side we got Sonic 2, Streets of Rage 2, Road Rash 2, ThunderForce IV/Lightening Force, World of Illusion, TMNT: Hyperstone Heist and Street Fighter 2: Special Champion Edition to name a few. Couldn't go wrong with either console in 92.

This was just beautiful, my lord. An awesome shot of nostalgia. I got my SNES for my birthday in late 93 with Super Mario World, F-Zero, and a Link to the Past (with Mario All-Stars arriving 2-3 weeks later for free via proof-of-purchase mail-in). I was on cloud-9 for a little over a year before I had enough saved up to buy my model 2 Genesis with Sonic 1 and 2, Sword of Vermilion, and Thunder Force II. P.S. A Link to the Past might not be the greatest game of all-time (that honor goes to Super Mario World) but it's up there...and always will be.

I never owned a SNES or NES for that matter, being a too proud Sega master system then Genesis owner I didn't even want to look at the SNES games in EGM or GamePro because inside I knew it was capable of better graphics and sound, then when Street fighter 2 came out for SNES I saw it at JCPENNEY and was Soo jealous hahaha it's funny how deep the 16 bit console wars really ran.

I'm glad you're showing some Nintendo love. I had Super Smash TV as a kid as well as most of these games (didn't have Ax slave) My buddy growing up had the Capcom arcade sticks and his dad made a clip on "2nd Joysticks" for them because he liked the game so much that he wanted to play it like the OG arcade cabinet. Legend of the Mystical Ninja is still one of my favorite franchises of all time, too bad we didn't get all of them here in the states. But thanks to fan translation and rom editing I've been able to complete the entire series. Damn, growing up in the 80's and 90's was rad!

Great picks and 1992 was probably my fav year owning a SNES. One minor gripe I have: I hate Super Double Dragon. It was such a disappointment to me and I cannot stand how slow it plays. A shame considering I was such a huge fan of the NES DD games and beat-em-ups in general.

You know 1992 was an excellent year for the SNES when Space Megaforce (my pick for the best shoot ‘em up on the system) only get a “blink and you miss it” mention near the end of the video. The game’s biggest flaw? The insane price it goes for on eBay (at least here in the states). If the game has ever gotten a digital re-release or gets one in the future, buy it immediately! It’s a classic worth playing.

The SNES finally coming to the US after months and months of speculation, anticipation, rumors and hype was a time fondly remembered. The SNES fulfilled its promises delivered fantastic titles in spades year after year. Even into the 5th generation, the SNES released titles nothing short of remarkable. The SNES, Genesis, PC E/TG16 and Neo Geo each had such a unique twist and the stand-alone offerings from each platform IMO made the 4th generation the best.

I remember my friend called me that Saturday early in the afternoon and said he just got back from the store with it. I hung up the phone immediately and yelled at my parents I was going to his house as I ran straight to his house. I loved the original so Link to the Past blew my mind.
