One of the Streets of Rage games was the first Genesis game I ever played as a kid. I was seven years old and visiting with my older cousins then. I always wanted to play as Blaze no matter what. It was the first crack in my egg. I don't remember which SoR game it was, though, probably 2 or 3.

I'm glad you covered this one as it stands high on fan homages, alongside SOR Remake and others. Some honorable mentions are hacks for SOR2 the New Challengers, SOR2 Ninja Warriors, SOR2 Warriors of Fate and SOR2 Slam Masters, these are pretty neat mods that add to the original, with new moves and juggling, they are more than pallet/sprite swaps. About SOR2 X, the only thing I miss is the SOR1 route we have on SOR Remake, apart of that, this is the best OpenBOR game, period, its gameplay is so addicting it's hard for other beat 'em ups to come close. I didn't see you air recover on this video, if you press up+jump when you're knocked you can recover but it's only if your life bar is highlighted in green, it fills up as you start beating enemies again.

I've played the two fan made games of streets of rage. The bomber games ( remake), and this 2x. Only the last one is available for android. The remake is only available for pc. This is my resume. 1. Streets of rage remake for pc (bomber games). Extended and amazing content. All the scenarios and stages of the 3 games, plus a full variety of characters. The game modes are just amazing, specially the "survival" where you're just receiving hordes of enemies while fighting with any of the characters in the game. The unlock content by replaying the game. There's even a "store" for special items in the game that you can buy with the money you earn . Like i said, the content is just very extense on that version. A lot of replayability, a lot of characters, plus new stages. I dare to say, it's the best 2D beat um. 2. This 2x version. It came after than the 2x version. It keeps many things from the remake made by fans. About the content, i think its inferior to the remake. There's not so much content as the bomber version. But, there's a thing that catch my attention. The amount of moves you can make on this version is quite interesting. There's like a super special, you can block punches, you can jump and make a special while jumping, and keep punching someone while you're in the air and keep doing specials. This actually gives a lot of fun to the game. I mean, the amount of movements and combinations for a beat em up is just crazy. There's even a special where you can summon a lighting and damage all your opponents. My only complaint is that there's no guide on the internet where you can learn to make all those moves. You have to learn for yourself, and i have played at least three times that game, and still can't figure out how to make all the specials. For me, it's quite frustrating. Plus, the buttons on the android version are confusing. There's an A1, A2, A3. The perfect game would be adding all the moves and specials of the 2x versión to the remake version made by bomber games.

Streets of Rage 2 is in my top 3 list ever. I also really love SOR 1 and 3 but 2 is the best for me. From 2020 and on I play SOR4 like a maniac it is a masterpiece.

This is the type of project that I love to see! People who care about a classic game series, making the best possible product, even though the original company has long since lost interest and the requisite skills and passion to bring such a project to life. In fact, nearly 5 years on from Sonic Mania, there has been no follow-up from Sega. They made one great decision by bringing in true fans from the outside to make a game that was not extremely expensive to create, was created meticulously and exquisitely, and also sold quite well. And they left it at that. I truly thank the fans that make things possible that major corporations won't.

I think it's interesting how many SEGA fan made games there are compared to other systems. Not that the other systems don't have them but the SEGA remakes are of insanely better quality. Even ones being released on the actual machine. I personally think it shows who really won the early 90's video game wars.

I grew up with up with S/NES but was lucky enough to have MS and MD. Back then, I was a Nintendo fan; I still am but looking back, through the SNES had had some ABSOLUTE CLASSIC Games (Super Mario World for one), these days I prefer the MD with its Golden Axe 3, Shinobi, SOR1 and my favourite Power Rangers Game, MMPR: The Movie.

@f.k b. It's probably more do do with how easy the 68000 is to code for. It's why the Atari Jaguar gets so many ST ports. That, and the way the SNES has bizarre issues like limiting you to only two sprite tile sizes per screen. According to the Sonic SNES homebrew developer, that bit was why he can't make a 1:1 port - you end up wasting some system resources.

I absolutely loved SoRR. Outstanding game with all the right content. I would say it’s one of my favorite beat’em ups of all time. Right there with Dragon’s Crown. I wish this would come to consoles as I would love to support their project(s). Unfortunately I don’t have a PC to play this on atm but hope to play it one day. Edit: I was the biggest fan of SoR 4. The A.I. was stupid cheap on higher difficulties. I did beat it on the highest one with Cherry but I hate how enemies would stall, frame perfect attack or get smarter as your combo got higher. Survival mode was just a spam your best move fest which gets old the further you go.

Wow this seems awesome. I’ve been playing streets of rage 4 and I feel like I’ve gotten better at streets of rage 2 after beating it on easy mode. Streets of rage 3 is so hard and playing on easy just results in the bad ending so I don’t want to bother with it. It’s nice that this tells you how to do moves. Also a tip for streets of rage players: if you’re grabbed by an enemy and thrown into the air, hold up. When you hit the ground, you shouldn’t take damage and automatically get back up after being thrown. It doesn’t sound like much, but it helps a ton.

For me the best one is Streets of Rage 2 - Syndicate Wars . It is a ROM hack from Streets of Rage 2 for Sega Genesis/Mega Drive and it's possible to play with all characters from SoR2!

The music at the beginning segment of the video is too loud, and it makes it hard for people with hearing loss to understand what you are saying. I don't normally have an issue while listening to youtube. I should not have to turn on Closed Captions when I generally just listen with it in the background.

Sadly PC android only and won't ever be compatible with an Everdrive to play on actual SEGA Genesis consoles. But retro bit has everyone covered with their SEGA controllers. Real question here kiddies will it work on Steam Deck.

Ugh, Senile Team... I was following them so closely in the early DC homebrew days. I still have a disc with Beats of Rage on it... but then, and I hope someone other than me remembers this, they announced Age of the Beast, which looked incredible, like a cross between Sengoku 3 and Dungeons & Dragons. I remember checking their site and forums all the time, as well as redspot games, to follow development and show support. Then, they hit a wall and made Rush Rush Rally Racing. Cool, I ordered the deluxe DC edition. Long story short, Age of the Beast was shelved after years of waiting. I was so frustrated, and it left a bad taste in my mouth. Every time I hear Senile Team or Beats of Rage, I think about just how disappointing that was.

Ehh, things probably just didn't work out for them. Hitches in development probably happened as game development can be frustrating. At least they didn't keep on promising it and lying about it. It's a thing that has happened to plenty of games and it sucks especially if your looking forward to something.
