If you drain the side oil drain before removing the filter it drains the oil from the filter so you don’t make a mess taking it off. Plus, if you use a regular oil drain pan, when you pull the side drain plug off if you pull the screen out about half way it will direct the oil straight down into the pan and not onto your engine or skid plate. Mess free.

Yes sir. I figured that out afterwards. All in all, it wasn't that bad.

It’s pretty cheap to spare yourself that mess and trouble. Harbor Freight sells tarps for $5. Just throw one down before you work on anything and then throw it away when you’re done.

Man, I sprayed simple green down and it honestly all came up. I was shocked.

Thanks partner, I had no idea there was a second oil drain plug by the filter, let alone a screen to be cleaned out..! Thank you for sharing this experience! also by the way, your rear shock guards are still 180° off lol...

Lol. The rear shock guards are like that on all Segway units. They don't do anything really being plastic. I was trying to figure out who was telling me this. Lol

The filer/screen, I didn't know either til I investigated it. When I emptied the drain on the bottom I realized that there was still some oil in the unit when I checked the dip stick. That's how I discovered it.

No, they’re backwards. Supposed to protect the shock shaft from rocks kicked back by the front tire. Your dealer probably assembled them wrong. First time I’ve seen them backwards. Tough to rotate without compressing the springs a bunch though.

@@LeeStauff-mu6lt I've seen others like it. Maybe Segway knew something that we didn't. Lol. I don't think I'm gonna compress the springs tho.

Thanks for the videos you make on your Segway, most enjoyable! Can I ask what part number you have on your Hiflow filter, assume it fits good? Thanks!

@@mcperformancecouk I'm not sure what the brand is but I bought it as a kit from MSC. It was a good deal
Does the cubby pull right off ? Or are there screws

This is a stupid question. What if you drain all the oil and remove the filter. And for some unknown reason it still shows full on the dipstick ? I'm baffled, WTH is going on. I changed the oil and filter. I overfilled it little. So I drained some out. But the level of the oil never came down. So I drained all the oil. Still shows over full. Took the filter off to see if it was caught under a vacuum some how. Nope, still over full. I don't get it.

If you don't remove the screen thingy as well, it'll still show full.

I love your videos but this one gives me anxiety. Go spend $20 for a drain pan and the correct tools that you should never have to replace. Also, don’t over tighten oil filters or drain plugs. Directions for tightening the filter are on the filter and the drain plug has a torque spec (I believe it should be around 8ftlb )so you don’t damage the rubber o-ring or threads.
@sxsoutcast765111 ай бұрын
That's correct. The plug was really tight when I took it out but I didn't tighten it too much and the filter I did by hand.
