Don't fully agree with your argument. Firstly, in-house do not guarantes it to be superior. And about Myiota, it's a subsidiary to Citizen who shared some R&D with Seiko back in the days. Both Seiko and Citizen have their roots in copying Swiss movements in late 1800's / early 1900's And Myiota movements are available as standalone products so if something goes wrong in your watch, it's easier to find spare. That being said, given the option to pick between Seiko and Myiota in same price bracket, I'll pick Seiko as well. Note that a movement is notbthe only reason one buys a watch. For example, I'll personally pick HMT over Rolex for its connection with the history of this nation.

I own a Timex Waterbury automatic, my first automatic. I bought it at 7K when it was selling at a discount. Comes at 12.5 K at its original price. So got a almost 45% discount back then. It has got a Japanese 21 jewels Miyota movement. Its a dress watch, although not the finest movement, but I bought because of the minimalistic look. I got compliments by women friends of mine when I am around from time to time.

I got the Invicta pro diver for around 6.2k INR including all import duties. It has a Seiko nh35 movement so for me, inhouse movement doesn't matter. I don't like paying 3 times more for a modern Seiko 5 with inferior specifications like 100m water resistance, unsigned non screw down crown with pressed bracelet links.

Bruh invicta, paganis, etc these dont claim to be horological boons, they are respectful homages, behave as one and you know what you are getting into with them. That's ok, respectful & acceptable. Problem is brands like fossil & titan which are perceived by gullible Indian janta (who do not know & neither care about iso.certificatiom which used to be there on skx007 and is no longer there in the 5kx) as gift to mankind and pay a pretty penny premium on those with +-10secs a day miyota calibers. That is what is wrong which pisses me off.

Nopes, if I am spending upwards of 50k-1 lac on a watch, I would want an in-house movement rather than an off the shelf ETA 2820 (used by most Swatch group brands). Personal preference.

I mean eta C07 is one of the game changing movements that has been ever produced. Even upto some point of time rolex used JLC movements. @@froutray He's just giving his opinion. Things u said about jlc and rolex is absolutely correct. And obviously miyota makes very good movements. Our Indian watch brand BWC uses swiss sellita movement.No issue in a watch with 3rd party movement,if it's of good quality . Seiko quality is unquestionably good, as it's called Asian Rolex, but that doesn't mean other movements are bad. Junzhans, Hamilton these are reputed brands and wont use bad movements. I have a titan grand master with miyota, works perfectly fine. But currently I fall into Gshock rabbit hole, so stopped buying other watches.

@@subarno26 I have a 7 inch wrist approximately and it looks absolutely beautiful on me. The watch is really amazing and the pictures don't justify how beautiful it is in real. You'll love wearing it. I've been wearing it as my daily driver and have managed to scratch it at some places. It's a bit thicker than an avg quartz watch so you must physically try one at a shop and then make a decision. It's a beautiful piece overall.

Cool video but some misleading statements about off-the-shelf movements. Miyota is a respectable brand that comes under the citizen group. It's a reliable movement, a true workhorse like the Seiko 7S26 and 4R36 movements. While the accuracy is not its high point, at this price range really reliable movement. Fossil watches should be avoided because they are fashion watch brands instead of true watch brands.

The orient designs can get a bit dated though. Plus, in india we are basically paying almost double the price for them. I will try and get the red kano through someone if possible. I didn't know Seiko had this model. Again, Seiko low end models cost nearly 30-40 percent less in the US. You should review the zeppelin models if you buy them. Even their quartz models are classy.

Miyota 82S0 movement is one of the most reliable movements. In fact Citizen still uses this in some of its models. Additionally Titan has now started offering its own movements in some models. Doesn’t really matter if the movement is in-house or off the shelf. Main point is reliability and Miyota 82S0 is known for this. Also, the accuracy of a mechanical watch depends on the quality of jewels that are used to reduce friction between the components. And as per my knowledge, 82S0's accuracy is 20-40 seconds per day. Which is not bad at all. Assuming that 1 wind of 82S0 will last for ~24 hours, it is almost accurate

Seiko is a good choice for the price and have more brand value .But I don't think it will matter much if the movement is in house or not at this budget. As long as the movement they use are from well known brand like Miyota , which is a sub brand of "Citizen " which doesn't need any introduction . So at last it all depends on the person and their liking . At this price range they all provide the same quality and finish. As an engineer I like smart watches they're electrically complex fascinating, as well as mechanical watches beautiful craftsmanship, . Both have its own beauty .

Miyota is Citizen's brand that makes movements. Their movements also very good. It's true that a lot of brands like Titan, Fossil, HMT(yeah now HMT too) are called Case manufacturers.

@@AnonymousGuruji Yeah right! But we can't expect mechanical movements from quartz brands, especially in this era. The issue is that absolutely no historic watch brand like seiko is cheap in India. For a similar price, one can get an HMT watch or something with 8205 movement by Miyota, which is an excellent hacking and winding movement, unlike Seiko's 7S26. I personally waited and raised my budget to 20k range and aimed for Seiko's 4R36 in it's 5 Sport watch. It has both hacking and winding. Absolutely beautiful... It all depends upon personal taste though :)
