In part 1 of this video series we look at the complete disassembly and inspection of a vintage Seiko 6139-6002 Pogue. This watch was recently ‘serviced’ but you’ll soon see that service was not going to cut it, and a complete overhaul was definitely needed!

I’m a furniture maker by trade, a bespoke furniture maker. Watching this made me realise how people feel when they watch me work, I was lost, how he gets this back together again is beyond me.

Brilliant work, I have a seiko 6139-6002, white face with the quarter 5 to 15 in red. Means the world to me and would love to have this restored.

That was immensely satisfying to watch! Seeing this increased my appreciation for your profession even more. Even with your (very relatable) rant, the whole video has a relaxing quality.

That 6139A movement is a frankenstein..because my friend told me that the area above the stem must have no spring like wire if that is a real 6139A...that is a 6139B..

You are right, it is a 6139b. It’s not that it doesn’t have the spring, it just has a different style. Also, I wouldn’t call it a Frankenstein. Someone just installed a 6139a bridge as the old bearing was badly worn or some similar issue. It’s probably all that they had on hand and It works perfectly fine.

I have one of these same watches but mine has a silver face rather than gold. I live in So. California and would love to have mine serviced so that I could use it once again. It has sat in a drawer for many years. The stopwatch button is stuck in and the watch runs but very intermittently. I kept perfect time at one time but it's been many years since I had it serviced by what was supposedly an authorized Seiko service center. It never worked correctly after that. Would you be interested in servicing my watch? If so, what would the cost be? Thank you for this wonderfully informative video. I await word from you.
