This is a great video! Thank you for your clear explanation. A follow up question that comes to mind from your video is if in this case it makes more sense to have the chronograph running (acting as a seconds hand) since this appears to be putting less wear and stress on the components.
@LucaTheStar
@LucaTheStar 23 күн бұрын
That's a great question. It certainly makes sense considering the opposite is true for horizontal clutch mechanisms where additional wear is caused when it IS running. I've also read some anecdotes on a watch forum about a chrono with the Seiko 8R48 movement getting stuck after not being used for a long time so this would also be a great explanation for what caused that issue.

This is a very interesting video and I agree about the watch dial colour I think this is better than the gold colour of the 'classic' Pogue. For what it's worth Rolex will not guarantee one of their watches waterproof if it's over 10 years old.

As I said in my email, I apologize if I offended you. My advice was - “I would suggest you take the watch to your nearest watchmaker to have the movement and dial dried out to prevent further damage.” I gave you this advice as I can’t get to your watch before your allotted time, that wouldn’t be fair to all my other customers. I told you this so that your watch didn’t get further ruined. You seemed offended by this and told me you know how to dry a watch out yourself. I wasn’t suggesting you couldn’t, merely offering helpful advice to stop your watch being ruined.

I contacted these people and they are so busy that the shop is closed until March and and and they have a 16 week ( three months) turnaround until I’d get my watch back! Austin talks convincingly in the videos but do you really want your watch gone 16 weeks? In frustration he told me to take my business elsewhere. I just thought you all should know.
@theseikologist

My name is Ashton, not Austin. After you told me: “You think you’re special, there is no reason you need three months to repair a simple crown gasket. Not only am I not interested in you servicing my 6105 I am going to warn my friends to not even bother contacting The seikologist.” - I suggested we might not be the best fit for each other. I apologize about my turnaround time (which is actually closer to 4 months). I’m a one man business and I can only do so much, hence the turnaround time. My services are in high demand as there are very few watchmakers who specialize in vintage Seiko. I can’t change that, unfortunately.

@@theseikologist I worded that weird so I can see where the confusion happened. To clarify: I do not own the equipment to ream out the Barrel Arbor hole on the main plate of the 6139 to replace it with a jewel. I do however have the equipment to push out the bushing on the Barrel Bridge and replace that. Would it be worth it to only upgrade the Barrel Bridge Bushing and not upgrade the main plate?

Hi Mark, received a 6119c which seems to tick ok, I’m able to change the day & date via clicking the crown in but I have a problem. The day won’t change naturally over time, and winding the time via the crown creates a clicking noise when arriving at the day change time. I am however able to get the day to change if I wind the time backwards. Hahaha any clue as to what might cause this. I know it’s hard to diagnose but I hope my description of the symptoms help. All the best!

The 6139-6002 Resist dial shall be on 6139A movement instead of 6139B, the second hand shall a 2 piece type as well
@theseikologist
@theseikologist 10 ай бұрын
Thanks for your input. It's not quite correct, though. The early 'Proof' dials had the two piece second hand. The resist dials that came out in 1971 had the one piece second hand and no notched case. This watch is a December 1971. So, it should correctly have a resist dial, and a 6139B movement as 1971 was the year the 6139B changeover happened. This is also a 6139-6005 true Pogue, as can be seen by the dial variation. It's a correct watch as far as I am aware and the research that I have done. I'd welcome any feedback to the contrary, however.

They are very close, but they are slightly different. The navigator timer had a high point in the middle and the hand sloped down from there. These hands are flat on the top and and the slope down on either side of the flat. Exactly the same as the OG 6105 hands, just a little bit smaller.
