Great video! Thank you! My SBBN037 will soon need a new battery. Could you provide the thickness of the gasket? 29.5 mm x 0.7 mm ? Thank you :)

Thank you for video. Can some one tell the # of case gasket?

Thanks for the video! I have a Seiko 0823-8000 that stopped working. Brought it in to the repair shop, and they said later that the metal cover holding the battery down broke. Super bummed. Do you think I could find a replacement piece, or make a makeshift one, or do I have to bin it?

Starting from 3:55 : Even its an old empty battery, he seems to be constantly short circuiting the old battery to the case itself with metallic pliers. Dont do this with new battery. That golden color part will be conneted to positive end of the battery, so you do not want that part to connect to the case or anywhere else.

what the best movement?????, for a Tuna Watch thanks wheelchair Larry
@mizeni Жыл бұрын
Hi Larry. Thanks for the question. I only have one Tuna so I haven't been able to compare it with other Tuna watches (hopefully one day!). However Spencer Klein made a series of videos where he compared two quartz movements found in Tunas. His conclusion was that the 754x series (e.g. Seiko 7549) was the winner - you can see the conclusion video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mHSygZKsh953h7s Hope that helps!

The backgasket actually fits in a groove in the case NOT around the threaded flange of the backplate. You are not supposed to put the gasket on the caseback plate flange. Your gasket is not properly installed. Divers watches are different from dress watches, where the gasket is installed on the caseback side. You need to re install your gasket.

Thanks for leaving a comment and pointing this out. I had assumed there wasn't a difference (the gasket would slot into the groove when the caseback is screwed on) but you're right, I should put the gasket the groove in the first place. I'll re-install it. Much appreciated.

Thanks for the comment. You're braver than me! I tend to break things easily if I'm not careful, so I use the tools I have to be safe.

It's not too bad, as long as you have fine tweezers and screwdriver, but it does need patience and a clear, bright work area. It can take a while to get the screw back in, but once the watch is running again it's very satisfying if you do it yourself. 🙂
