I’ve owned many rolexes,omegas, a panerai, zenith, reverso, Corum, oris etc but there is something about this watch that I just love. All the reviews and even trying it on the first time in a boutique didn’t do much for me but I bought it anyway and now I can say it’s one of, if not myfavourite watch ever.

By luck, got to handle this model in person at a watch meet up last night. It's amazing. I fell in love with it. Everyone at the table was completely ignoring much more expensive luxury brands in favor of this watch.

I would stick with your goal of the Bremont S500. Objectively, it's just a far better watch on every count from features to tangible measures of quality. Also, there exist several color variants of the S500, so it should be possible to find one that appeals perfectly to your tastes. Best, Tim

This piece represents the best modern value prop in dive watches in my opinion. I suspect if Rolex or Omega were offering a monocoque case dive watch, they would charge $10K+ for it without blinking an eye. Add in that the 8L35 is an undecorated Grand Seiko 9S and this model is a flat out steal at around $2K. It's important to remember that when this model's great grandfather came out (the reference 6159-7001 in 1968) it was priced in Rolex Sub territory and didn't even come with a bracelet! Pop this MM300 on a nato and hit the water!

J S in fairness if Rolex or omega produced any watch it would have a better bracelet, clasp and quality control then Seiko and would have a cosc rating. Mine is fine and runs +1spd so as good as any Rolex or omega but have heard bad stories and the bracelet is fine for £1500 but I would expect better from anyone else. I just love Seiko for their faults rather than despite them 🤦🏻‍♂️
@tendrams
@tendrams 6 жыл бұрын
I agree with you. My MM300 is about +3 so I am also very satisfied. Keep in mind though that it is not until rather recently in Rolex history that they produced the very nice bracelets with which we are familiar. Just 20-25 years ago, I am not sure the qualitative differences between a MM300 and Sub would be all that notable. Also good to recall that in the late 60s, the Seiko 6159 was priced in Rolex Sub territory and came with NO bracelet! :)

J S agree. When I got my first role. I remember being extremely underwhelmed at the bracelet and clasp 😁 I was convinced it was fake as it was so light and tinny. Role have upped their game massively but for me they have put their prices up a bit too much to be considered. They will still sell no doubt but having owned many in the past for so much less I couldn’t happily justify spending 2-3 times as much for the same watch(even if it is much improved!). Tudor represents the price point Rolex used to occupy but I love my Seikos and they have more soul to me(I know others disagree). I love the imperfections of my Seikos and don’t baby them. Currently have the best value watch out there (imho) the sarb035, a 50 year lordmarvel and the mm300+ a vintage omega deville. Either a sna411 or speedie pro will complete a nice 5 watch collection for me 😁

I'm trying to buy a marinemaster 300m clasp for a watch but I see 2 different kinds. One has the (Titanium + ST. Steel - B) Other (Titanium + ST. Steel Japan - B) Other (Titanium Alloy + ST. STEEL - B) all in capital letters of course. Which is the original one and is it possible one is USA market and other Japan?

@FatSamEIE
@FatSamEIE 6 жыл бұрын
The movement is better and the polishing is better but it depends what you want it for. I haven’t got a spb051 but it is possibly a better desk diver being smaller and with the sapphire crystal whereas the mm300 is more of a proper retro diver tool watch. I love mine and wear it pretty much every day- it feels like a masculine watch that will age well and look great the more worn and scratched it gets.

though Seiko has good reviews and tons of fans....I am disappoitned with their "dvie watches"....$500-10k Grand Seiko vresins. If they 're going to charge us $4k plus at least include featgures like a "helium valve or knob"....this way buyers feel like ethey bought a "real deep dive watch" :)) even if they don't actually dive "deep" and have only touched the bottom of a pool at 3m...LOL!! :)) How hard could it be to add the "helium knob or valve featgure"?? :)) ....SMACK11

Dear christ seiko make something at 40mm like this. And no the mm200 doesn't count. Such a cool piece ruined by being so absurdly large
@rayutwenty-four6753
@rayutwenty-four6753 5 жыл бұрын
SQ8warrior I too usually dislike large bulky watches. The only exception being my speedmaster at 42mm. I saw the mm300 in person and tried it on. It is a beautiful beast imho. It looked smaller on the wrist than its advertised 44mm diameter and so I went for it and love it! It is wearable, but yes, if they come up with a 39-40mm version of the mm300, it would be stupendous!

LMAO! $2000+ for a watch with a painted bezel and hardlex crystal (aka seikos plastic). I'll just still with the new SBDC061 (aka Marine Master 200M) for 1/3 the price of this Seiko.

Fun fact: back in 1967, the Seiko 6125 (the direct ancestor to the MM300) was probably the first dive watch to feature round metallic applied indices (with lume centre). Today this type of indices is probably the most defining characteristic of many Rolex watch dials, but Rolex only started using them in the 80s, about 15 years after Seiko. Also, many of the design cues of the Sub (bezel, indices, etc.) were done first by the original Blancpain FF.
@alecc4006
@alecc4006 6 жыл бұрын
slojam81 the sub was produced in 1953 the same time as BP and the sub 6204 already had round indices. Your fun fact is not really fun or actual fact. Also most people seeing that watch would just think cheap Japanese Rolex sub copy
@slojam81
@slojam81 6 жыл бұрын
Alan c You'll find the Blancpain FF was earlier than the Rolex Sub. And my point was not so much about the fact that the indices are round, but that they have the shiny metal circle around them. Hence the term "applied" versus simply painted on. Seiko was probably the first to use those applied round indices; about 15 years before Rolex started using them.
