I bought this watch for my elderly father a couple years ago for Christmas. Despite my own fanaticism for watches, he never really expressed any interest in them. Regardless, I thought this would make a great gift even if he only occasionally wore it (the solar movement in particular seemed practical for him). Warms my heart quite a bit to see that he's wearing it whenever I come to visit my parents.

This watch Ticks all the Boxes for me: 38mm. No day just date. 20mm lug opening. Quartz: Grab and Go 200m iso rated. It's a SEIKO.

Seiko never runs out of different case designs to use. It’s amazing. There really is no watch maker that compares. Hopefully they take care of their issues because they really do design the best watches. Great video!

Thats why its very rare to find rolex these days because they made too little, rolex is only successful people who will buy them

I bought the regular black version, on a black rubber strap. Love that combo. And love this little watch. So comfortable. And the case shape is very stylish. Super watch!

It really is! I got to pick one up one day. I have the SNE569 in studio now for macros. Faded bezel. Never seen the black but I'm sure that it's a great choice!

Just ordered this one, can’t wait for it to show up, so I’m eating up all the videos! Thanks for this one. Great details about the lug to lug effects things as compared to the larger SKX. I just wish the bracelet didn’t have the polished stripes (my Mini Turtle has the same links and it just doesn’t feel crisp). But I’m sure this PADI will work great on a strap :)

It's such a comfortable watch, especially on a rubber strap which obviously weighs less.

I'm on the small side of the people who prefer hardlex over uncoated sapphire. It wont shatter easily and is less reflective than sapphire itself.

Thanks for this review. I'm sold! I couldn't care less for an auto version of this... not if they're going to put in that middling touch-n-go 4R. I prefer that this is fuss-free, accurate solar hidden behind that fantastic dial pattern. Look forward to getting the shipment!

I have the all black one which I love but it only comes on a rubber strap. Still no luck in sourcing a bracelet like this variant. Yes overpriced but seriously, what watch isn’t these days. I love the solar quartz accuracy and set it and forget it convenience. My Spb143 hasn’t been worn since I bought this over a month ago. Definitely enjoy the lighter weight.

I heard the seiko alpinist bracelet will fit. I haven't tried tho. I think if seiko didn't get these ISO rated professional spec it would be 100 dollars less. But for seiko its important for their image to have many professional certified divers.

But strongly believe its thick aluminum as Seiko themselves mention it on the street tuna inserts which have the same striping effect. Seiko says, "Three Dimensional Bezel: Aluminum material is adopted to express a more edgy shape " -Falling

As a watch enthusiast don´t see why Seiko still increasing prices due some quality things in their pieces. This PADI SE is nice but better than the Citizen you mentioned. Great job as usual FT ! Have a great week Bro !

This is such a nice watch. I've been really appreciating quartz and smaller watches too (compared to 40mm). Btw falling titan I ended up purchasing that Longines Spirit Prestige edition. I wasn't keen on the Prestige ending because of the increased price but I did what you said and asked for room in price reduction. I ended up getting it for a good amount.

While I am intrigued by this watch, I don’t see why it should cost 50% more than the Citizen pro master BN0150, a solar diver with nicer indices.

This one feels a bit more refined for everyday wear but def doesn’t justify the price difference even with the sapphire. I prefer the coin edge bezel on the Seiko far more as well.l but nothing beats that citizens blue lume.

I love the size. Smaller watches are better! You said QC is worse on quartz seikos? Negative, QC is all over the place with seiko regardless if quartz or mechanical. 3 out of my 5 SKX watches have misaligned something...

The fine thin grooves in the insert would be difficult and expensive to machine from SS. Seiko uses SS bezel inserts on many different watches this is not one of them.
