• Closing thoughts:
o On wrist - Wears just about perfectly, great proportions, and although angular, still hugs the wrist surprisingly well, reads impressively thin while never approaching flimsy
o Model variants - Also available in a deep red color combination or blacked-out on strap
o Comparable models - When you consider the in-house nature of these at the under $600 price point, there’s actually less comparable than you might think, as direct competitors from Orient and even Citizen will generally be cheaper and more abundant but noticeably less detailed by comparison
o Bottom-line - Much like the Mini Turtles and Mini Tunas or now the updated MM300’s it’s great to see Seiko tweak their iconic formulas to offer smaller sized variations of some of their now classic silhouettes
No, it doesn’t have sapphire but that’s to be expected with 4R powered Prospex divers, and as impressive as a future ‘King-Mini-Samurai’ sounds, I don’t think it’s really needed here
This is a no-frills everyday diver that hits a real sweet-spot in my humble opinion and I could easily see this one becoming the new default automatic Seiko diver on bracelet for generations to come with models like the 62MAS inspired SPB453 listing for $1,300
