Seiko Samurai vs Turtle

Very interesting video and I think you nailed it: the flat bottom on the Samurai allows it to rest closer to your wrist, compared to the rounded bottom of the Turtle that pushed the watch UP from your wrist. Thank you for this video. Brings a lot of perspective for someone like me who is starting the watch journey. Loved the lume shot at the end!

I only have a 6.75 inch wrist but the Samurai still fits like a glove. The short lug to lug really helps as well because I normally can't wear a watch as large.

I've got the Save the Ocean gradient dial, and though I can't comment on orange, blue dials do enhance comfort considerably.

Sloping lugs! That's why the samurai looks smaller on wrist. It makes the lugs kinda just diappear, hence the overall case feels smaller, even though the samurai bezel is bigger than the turtle's. One of the coolest industrial designs in Seiko's diver history imo.

Nice comparison. I have a little bit smaller wrist at 6,7 inch. And I was really hesitant towards getting one of these two. I tried both, and there was no doubt in my mind. The Samurai is so cool looking, and imo way better on wrist. It wears like a glove. It is one of my Best wearing watches because of that it sort of just melts onto the wrist.. 👍

Great size comparison, I've always wondered about the Samurai. I used to have the PADI and it wears fairly well for it's size but most Seikos that are larger wear pretty decent though not as huge as their specs state.

The Seiko samurai looks chiseled, tough & angular. While the turtle looks like it was designed after a bloated, fat guy's beer gut. Samurai 4 the win! ⌚ 💡 ⌚ 💡

I think you're correct with what you said about the flat surface of the Samurai being comfortable, I bough the Samurai Save the Ocean around 3 years ago, I love it Great comfort comparison, it affirms I made the right choice when choosing the correct Seiko, PLUS I just like it's awesome shape!!!

Sammy fits you perfectly. Too big for me personally. The turtle reissue fits like a glove on my just under 7" wrist.

My friend you are so correct. My skx007 is so comfortable that I had already decided to get a Turtle. But yesterday I put a pre-owned Samurai STO on my wrist certain that it would be a waste of time. Wow! It fit so comfotably on my wrist that I immediately purchased it. And that blue dial is so nice........

Its a shame that you must spend more than 600 bucks in Germany to get a Seiko with Sapphire Glas instead of Hardlex. But nearly 90% of Hommage Submariner watch under 150 Bucks have it. And Watch Maker Shops took nearly 150-180 Bucks for Sapphire Glas installing.

As an owner of both I have to agree and for me I didn't notice until I put the turtle on a Crafter Blue strap. The rubber was rigigid on the sides and the watch sat up in the front.

Tried one on in the ad and I do love the way it hugs the wrist due to having a flatter underside verses my snkm87, the rounded underside has a kinda floaty fit that let's it sit high front or back sometimes, definitely gonna get my hands on one of these

I'm so torn between these two cases. While I find the turtle has a slightly better fit because I have a small wrist, the samurai is such a cool case. While I prefer a rubber/silicone diver strap on the samurai for a tighter fitment, either is good on the turtle though. It's really a hard one, if I go purely comfort; turtle. Looks; samurai. So I opted to have one of each. 😎

of the three you showed, i think the monster is way below there. it just doesn't have the understated appeal of the samurai and the turtle. great comparison of the samurai and the turtle though, bro. funny thing is, i've also been considering getting an orange samurai (along w/ the STOs and the padi release) and lately it's been all over my youtube timeline.

That samurai would be an absolute winner if it was 42mm case diameter. Like it would be off the chart sales for Seiko if they did that, especially if there was a no-date option for symmetry; or the date execution was a little better (eg date window same colour as dial without a date border, or with a date border and white date window). I've got a 7.5 inch wrist, but I think the table top of my wrist is smaller than yours... How would you overall rank these watches against each other: Turtle, SXX, Samurai and Monster?

i noticed the samurai lugs are not prominent at certain angles. i only see a frame around the bezel. just the right amount of edginess complementing the bezel.

Both are excellent however the Samurai is more of an all-rounder to wear, the turtle looks bigger and has more of a true diver look, thx for the video

Samurai is a looker, wish i have one, I have a srp315k1, k2 and a Padi turtle, monsters have their own status.

I totally agree with your thoughts! I have a 6.75" wrist and my SXK007 and SKX009 wear perfect so I thought the turtle would too but I was wrong. The Turtle felt really large so I sold the turtle and gave the Samurai a shot and really glad I did. Like you said its a large and heavy watch yet it wears much better for me then the turtle not just in size but also in comfort and that's cause I favor my Sinn EZM3 at 40mm and my Oris Aquis 39.5 generally but I can get away with the Sammy!

Maybe my wrist is different, but I got both models as well, and the turtle feels much better on wrist, a lot lower and better balanced. TBH tho, I’ve also got a 777 on silicon, and that leaves both bracelet models for dead.

I agree, the Samurai is much more stable on wrist, the Turtle is a tiny bit top heavy. The Samurai is also a bit lighter too, 10-15 grams.

If I'm not mistaken, Turtle is 45mm while Samurai is less than 44mm. Samurai is overall a tighter package. Turtle is less forgiving for smaller wrist but as long as you have 7" or above, all Seiko divers should fit without any issue as they all have very short lugs.

My wrist is 7 and 1/4 as well. For me, my Turtle wears more comfortable. However, both are comfortable on me. I do desire another Sammy though, Turtle not so much.

All thru the video I'm thinking about how awfully tinny those nasty Seiko bracelets and clasps sound rattling against the table. The Samurai comes into it's own on a Strapcode Hexad bracelet. About the fit, I thought the Samurai would wear bigger than it does, it too has the Seiko magic of being able to hunker down on your wrist.

I’m probably in the minority here but definitely prefer the Turtle 🐢 over the Samurai. I’ve tried on several Samurai watches and wish they gelled on my wrist but they don’t . Don’t get me wrong the Samurai is an amazing Seiko but just not the right one for me.

To me, the samurai is the best in show. The ergonomics, the fit, and that bezel/dial ratio. Everything is extremely clean and well laid out. It's one of the more unique divers on the market in that it doesn't take style queues from other watches. I mean when you look at the Shogun, its damn near a Submariner homage... The unique cuts and angles of the Samurai is unlike any other divers aside from the dial/bezel being round and having lum.

I have both watches and feel that both are equally comfortable on my wrist, which is the same size as Rob's. but I have both on rubber straps almost exclusively. The few times I wear them on bracelets I have no strong opinion either way. The Samurai has a much better bezel grip -- the Turtle's bezel edge is polished a little too much and therefore slippery to operate. My Turtle is a mess in regards to chapter ring alignment and even the one of index markers are applied incorrectly. My Samurai is spot-on. I do prefer the Turtle hands though, as those Monster-style arrow and sword hands are showing up everywhere in Seiko's line diver line up: Shogun, MM200, 62MAS lite, and the Tunas.

Certain watches are just must have because it's just Beautiful. Orange, Blue, Green and the Padi style watches are what is getting my attention. The enamel is Sweet also just because of what it takes to make them. So I already got it Bad. 😂😂
