Just a note on the reference... 7S26-0040. The first part '7S26' is the movement type and the second part '0040' is the case design/designation. It's the same referencing system for all Seikos! 👍

SEIKO SKX023K2 7S26-0050 The mid-size version of the SEIKO SKX031 and what most people all call the "SEIKO Submariner" but it is in reality much more like ROLEX's Yacht-Master by its attributes. The case sides are rounded in the Rolex "horn" style, the Bezel is bi-directional and has no lume-pearl all like the Yacht-Master.

Just picked up one of these with a stainless steel bracelet for £5 from a charity shop... Its a well worn watch but working perfectly How would I adjust the bracket size?
@WatchesKnivesEDC2 жыл бұрын
Seriously, £5? Bargain! It depends what bracelet is on there. If it is the original Seiko jubilee you can get a bit of adjustment by moving the end in the clasp in a few holes (you need to depress the pin to do so). If you need more adjustment, each link is held in place with a split pin - look on the back and you'll see arrows pointing in the direction to push the pins out. If none of this makes sense (!) there'll be a tutorial on here no doubt 👍

@@WatchesKnivesEDC thank you I've had a fiddle and a few youtube videos and got the size perfect.... and yes after a couple of gentle cleans and some research I can't quite belive what I've got my hands on... Bought my first watch a few weeks ago, just a cheap Sekonda moonphase quartz watch but it is very attractive and has sparked the collecter enthusiasm in me and the last few weeks have been all about the research into beautifully engineered pieces I simply can't afford so to find this for £5 today in the condition it's in I'm over the moon 😊...

@WatchesKnivesEDC4 жыл бұрын
Well spotted Wonho. I was under the impression at the time of making this video that this was the Japanese model but it turns out the watch wasn't genuine - the date wheel is Arabic (as you point out), the word 'Japan' is missing from the caseback, and it has an aftermarket bezel insert that isn't correct. :-(

@@WatchesKnivesEDC :( that's very unfortunate

These are often referred to as 'J' models, as they have 'made in Japan' on the dial, as well as the '21 jewels' text. It's the same for the SKX007 etc. There's plenty of online discussion as to if these watches are actually made in Japan or not. However, they are not a 'jdm' (Japanese domestic market) model, which always include a kanji day wheel. Word is that these 'J' models were produced for the Arab/UAE market place that prefers a 'made in Japan' reference and, of course, the Arabic day wheel. 👍

The crown seems to be longer than the original one

It is the original crown - that's what size they are.

@@WatchesKnivesEDC I wear this watch every days, your crown looks few millimeters longer than the original, check your dimension, mine is approximately 43mm with crown (non opened), maybe its due to the lens for the video, but i have a doubt. Thanks

Hands are referred to be "sweeping" because they're mounted from the center cannon stack along with the hour and minute hand. The term "sweeping" or "sweeping motion" is derived from the way radar scopes have a central point in the center of their display to the edge of the radius of the display. Medical texts urge that the nurse or doctor use a watch with a "sweeping seconds" hand as apposed to what used to be common in watches having an eccentric sub-dial or none at all. Its got nothing to do the smoothness or mechanical or quartz movement rate or whatever. Please make a note of this.
@WatchesKnivesEDC4 жыл бұрын
Ah, that's very interesting, thanks! I like to be accurate so it's good to know what 'sweeping' actually means. It appears, unfortunately, that the term 'sweeping' has come to mean moving round the dial for most watch enthusiasts - I bet very few know what is really means. Much like 'literally' no longer means 'literally' :-(
@sneak8802 жыл бұрын
For automatic watches it's very common to refer to a 'sweep' or 'sweeping' seconds hand as opposed to the defined, singular tick of a quartz watch. 👍

Is the bezel oem? I'm looking to buy a sxk031 with the same bezel (well priced), however, most sxk031's I see only have individual minute indices from 12 to 3 and not 6 to 9 as well. I'd like to replace my bezel if this is the case.
@WatchesKnivesEDC4 жыл бұрын
Ah, I'm glad you asked! No, mine in the video is not original (annoyingly). Many people replace the bezel insert with the cheap ones they find online that have dashes 12-3 AND 6-9. This is not how they should be!!! The real deal should only have dashes 12-3. I only learnt this after buying mine. You live and learn 😕
