Just had to watch this again (after having, or so I thought, gotten a great deal on the SLA049.....my 8L35 movement runs at least 25 seconds fast a day).....because you are the best Seiko reviewer out there. I had to laugh again at two things; the fact that Uemura is a "JDM" explorer and that your 8L35 movements run within only 4 to 5 seconds fast per day! God bless. I got mine grey market NOS with box, papers, warranty, blue sticker, tags, etc. paid 1800 quid, BTW! Cheers Gethin! Absolutely GORGEOUS watch though! Absolutely stunning! LOOK AT IT!

@@marcob.7801 That's a real shame and I'm sorry you have been unlucky. You can easily get it regulated by a watchmaker but you shouldn't have to. I have had 5 different 8l watches and all of them have run within chronometer spec. Thanks for a great comment Marco I really appreciate it!

Four twerps on perch ready for the beeech. I do love the Willard case. The SPB151J1 is the perfect size just wish it had a ceramic bezel insert. Beautiful piece begging for a Tropic strap. Keep the hinnies tipped up. Cheers

It is a great watch bro! The name Uemura is more cohesive to Seiko than Captain Willard. To be honest I don't see any Japanese culture when people refer to Willard which is a marketing gimmick.

I had my eye on that when it was on Ebay. £1400 was an absolute steal.

It was listed on eBay for £1750. Mr Jun made 1.4k offer and it was accepted. The sla033 he was going to buy is still listed for 3k. It's been there for months and not sold. He was going to buy it for 2.7 k but the owner was rude and not nice to deal with so he was put off making the purchase.

This watch is something else! Willard is one of my Grail watches, honestly even one of the "lesser" variants gets me very excited lol! But this particular one.. oh boy.. it is a gem!

Would you say it's better or as good as SLA033?

Oooh that's a hard one! 033 is more expensive and more limited so we want that one the most. Both have the same movement and the 033 doesn't have a bracelet. Crazy why it costs so much more. If I had the choice I would take the 033 but this Uemura is not worse, just less desirable to me anyway. I'm confused now!

@@gethinchristian Yeah I'm confused also, I didn't like the other Willard reissue compared to the SLA033 because the crown guard was so much bigger than the sla033 as SLA033 crown guard more close to the original. But this sla051 seems the same crown guard length as SLA33 (but could be wrong as not in my hands). It's hard for me to tell difference without both watches in my hand but they look pretty much the same...

@@maxpaws3977 It is very similar if not exactly the same. The 033 is more faithful to the 6105 overall, it is pretty much an exact replica. The 051 has some differences particularly the bevel along the case and I would call it a reinterpretation where the 033 is a recreation. 051 is definitely more jewellery like compared to the toolish nature of the 033. Both are awesome but I'd pick the 033.

@@gethinchristian Yes I think I have to agree with you, I'd pick the SLA33 also, it is indeed the most closest the minute hand is the exact same and no prospect logo, it's a real shame all the pieces are now sold and you have to still fork out retail price for a second hand one.

That's a tough decision. They're both good. The 317 wears smaller and is lighter. I think most people would probably pick the 153 as it's more iconic and well known. 317 is a more toolish and basic finishing wise for sure. Personally I liked the 317 a bit more but I'm in the minority. You can't go wrong with either of them. I have reviewed the 317 and the 151, same as 153 but black. The choice is yours!

I love everything about it EXCEPT the 2 thin shiny stripes down the bracelet. I absolutley HATE fake lines to mimick actual links. It's a tacky and cheap method started by the cheapest and tackyest watch makers to add flare to budget watches. If you want to see how thise thin lines are created apropriatly with actual links, look at the new Longines Legend Diver
