Hey, Welcome to the OFD Watch Channel. My name is Aron Dunlap, and I’m nuts about watches. What’s OFD you ask? Well, one of my best friends coined this term. It stands for “Only F@#*ing Dunlap” (sorry kids!!) due to some of the ridiculous things I can come up with, including watch collecting.
I have loved watches for years, but in the last few years really got into the collecting and studying aspect. I mainly buy Seiko and Orient watches, but I love everything out there!! (Omega, Oris, Rolex, Squale, Timex, Casio, Steinhart….and on and on and on)

I used to have this watch and never was in love with it and just sold it. I realized in retrospect that 80% of my dislike came from the stock bracelet which was just lackluster. Replaced it with a SNA411 on a NATO because the bracelet on that was almost as bad.

Yeah, the bracelet left a lot to be desired. It's a cool watch on a NATO for sure. I sold mine years back. Hopefully someone is enjoying it today. Cheers, and thanks for tuning in!😎👍

I've had mine for about 12 years now. You are correct that the bracelet on it is really flipmsy and makes the watch look cheap. I haven't worn it in about 8 years, but just ordered a nice black leather strap and will give this watch a new life. Will add this to my rotation. Thanks for the video.

Not sure why you think the bracelet is especially bad. I've worn mine for 20 years in the most difficult conditions. Without any problem.

That's a beautiful chrono, Aron. My Casio chrono just died a couple of weeks ago after 9 years of service, and this looks a suitable replacement. 😊

This model SND253-P1 in the black dial and the model SND255P1 in the blue dial are still being sold on eBay from Japan. Both models are JDM (Japanese Domestic Models) and they are currently being made for the Japanese domestic market. I think that this watch is no longer made for the US market like it used to be back 12 years ago in 2007. This particular model has been around many years (over 12+ years) and it has a proven quartz chronograph movement which is durable and good quality. The 7T92 quartz chronograph movement has been around since around 2001 or 2002. I love that the watch has a screw down crown and a 12 hour chronograph built into it. Most of the Seiko chronographs in this price range do not have a screw down crown or the 12 hour chronograph. I also love how the lume on the hands and on the hour markers can be easily seen in the dark after being exposed to light. If the lume is anything like the lume that's on the Seiko SKX007 divers watches, then it will last a very long time in the dark. You can find both the blue and the black dial model on Amazon Prime.

I’ve got the SNA414P1, V172-0AC0 & 7T34-6A09 all have the 70sec/1.10hour dials instead of 5sec/1hour displays like ones here. Is the a name for those type? I’d like to find all the Seiko models if possible.

How do I use the tachymeter on this watch...I have been trying to figure that out but couldn't really get it

nice watch, really very nice. the right size, as well as the weight probably, for the everyday use. it's a great pity that they are no longer being produced. mdv-106 is a bit heavier then I wished to, but anyway.. thanks for the excellent vid. cheers!

Hey, great review/overview! I'm considering getting this watch, but am a little bit concerned about 21mm lug width. I see that you've got your on a NATO (which I'm also planning to go with), and you've mentioned BluShark, but they are only stocking 20mm and 22mm straps, hence the question: which one are you using? I would guess it's a 22mm one. Was it a tight fit, did you experience any major issues with it? It appears to be alright, as far as I can tell judging solely by the video. Thanks.

Dmitry Streak Hey Dmitry :) I'm running a 20mm strap on this one. Seiko generally use 20-22mm lug width on their watches. I'm pretty sure this one actually measures closers to 20 than 21mm. Cheers, and thank you for tuning in!
