24 hours hand is not useless. It makes setting DATE much easier and lots of people didn't know and understand it.

On a mecca quartz never have to set though only the slightest adjustments few times a year.

You set the date once then use the quick set on months that need it. It really serves no purpose other than something easy to use to fill in on a subdial. Anyway I think most of us find it useless.

@@Roughdraft214 lol i use my 24 hour hand just to be aware of the day and night scenario if im on a diff country especially if time zones does matter to you. Still 24hr hand helps me track hours especially if im on a closed office not worrying looking out on a window.

@@unkillabledemonkingI can see where if you were on a space station or something it would come in handy but that’s is such a rare instance, and the watch world does not build something in to serve the minority of buyers, they want to please the masses so they put it there because it’s something easy to put in a sundial. I’m glad you do have a use for it but 99% wouldn’t find it useful and it’s just there because it’s easy to do.

5:30 I generally do not care about chronographs at all (main interests is divers), but that is beautiful. Definately the best colorway. Today, I got my Seikomariner Hulk solar ISO diver 💪

I have both 813 and 911 but I got more compliment with the 911 and its better on hand. The iterations of red hands looks like a vintage sports car speedometer so sporty and classy well you can have both.

Is the watch having a quartz movement really a negative here? A mechanical movement would make the watch thicker and double the price while also making it far less accurate, more fragile, and require expensive maintenance every few years. I love mechanical watches, but everything that makes this watch great (dial design aside) is made possible by the solar quartz movement inside.

I was tempted by both of these models, but really didn't care for the slab sides (I had an SSC817), then I discovered the JDM SBPY165. This is a Seiko solar chronograph that is very similar to the models in this video but with a more refined case and more elegant dial. The SBPY165 is 42x12x46, has virtually the same specifications other than no power meter, and is considerably more affordable. Anyone interested in a "panda" Speedtimer should really check out the SBPY165.

I got a 911 today. One link out of the bracelet and a micro adjustment got me a perfect fit. It was only after looking at the watch for a while that it occurred to me that face was actually (pale) silver instead of white. I wonder if Seiko did that because the hour markers on the 911 are now (luminous) white - instead of black as on the smaller version? There would be little contrast if the face was white too. It all comes down to personal taste, but the combination of black, silver, white and red supplementary hands works for me. The solar power should be ideal for me because I ‘ring the changes’ - I use the facilities of an Apple Watch Ultra - and I still like my Seiko 5 - so six months of power reserve in the 911 should be great. It has the feel of a mechanical watch to me. The 911 seems a great buy at 590 UK pounds. I am pleased with my purchase.

I have the older one with the yellow textured dial face. I was on the fence, because I just bought a prospex diver with the black waffle dial face. I ALWAYS wanted a Samurai. After watching…. You made me spend another 500 bucks. 🤓😝🤓 I ADORE my older one. Even the cons that people point out don’t bother me in the slightest. The MOST comfortable watch I own. I even love the bracelet. LOVE this line. The Seiko Steven McQueen line…

It's always bothered me that the most important subdial, the chrono minutes one, is the smallest on the 813! The smallest subdial should've been the useless 24 hour subdial.

I dont belive they make mistake sending you old version, this old one didnt sell well after new one show up. They count that you will like old model and do not complain. How to make mistake when model number is totally diferent, you cant! Or maybe you order just white panda with black chrono? Then I belive they can miss that. Some shops they never sent by mistake more expensive and popular watch, some how that must be always cheaper and les demand one haha. glad that you make it a win for your self.

Definitely a mistake, that one sold out fast, they were goin on eBay for over $1000, so people were waiting for A Ds to get more in stock I just don’t think they would send the wrong one on purpose

FYI, they were being nice. The Mako is nothing like this watch. I am an owner of the SSC911 (chronograph) and the Orient Kamasu (Diver). The Mako is a diver style watch. Not all watches are the same and people buy watches they like. Only shallow people like you care about 1/3 the price for a style of a watch. I hope you grow up. gg
