Just ordered an SRPG31 (blasted case/grey dial on nylon strap) from Long Island Watch! I really love the look of this watch, and the movement is great, imho. Tbh, I think that dome does a lot for my eye…just love that. I am new to watches, but in looking for a field style watch, I think this fills a niche even at the 275 mark. I know it can be less, but given what it is relative to other fields, the price is not bad. From what I read, it sounds like hardlex is better than lower quality saphire, so even some other microbrsnds that offer saphire for a similar price may not be better due to the quality…idk, just from doing a ton of research before deciding on this. Nice review!

It's a simpler watch so QC should be less demanding. The SNGZ is still the favorite of the watches I own and this kinda fixes what bugs me about it. Larger wrist so I tend not to wear anything below 40mm but this is close enough if you squint. This style is all face so they look larger.. The SNGZ is not a lot bigger but it looks like a wall clock on wrist. If Vostok would make this style, they could sell them all day long for $150.

Could you do a size comparison to the SRPs? I have an SRPE57 and it's a little small on me. I love the watch but I could use something bigger and these are right up my alley and around the same cost. I also have an SRPD31 from the Land series line and damn that's a nice watch that needs more love on youtube. I got it cause I couldn't afford an Alpinist but I don't regret it at all. It's right about the perfect size for me despite its lugs being so small. Also just saw they released a Seiko 5 in the Pog gold dial colorway....Damn. SRPH19 And it's a limited edition.😑

@@Visitor555 yeah and given their commitment to the product silos a no-date would have to be a prospex, which would be too similar (business/sales wise) to the alpinist/baby. I miss the days when seiko was more willing to do oddball releases outside of their product lines.

Joe Bloggs 0 seconds ago I purchased a Seiko 5 Sports Automatic SRPG29K in Australia in February 2023 and the world should know that this watch lost seven minutes in the first month of ownership. I advised the Seiko Australian supplier Linda and Co that the watch was faulty. They replied that it met the specifications so no warranty. Think about that before investing in a Seiko watch.... It certainly is an attractive looking watch. But I don’t see how anyone can reasonably claim that this is a value at the asking price. $275? There are plenty of other field watches out there that gives significantly more for significantly less. I could see spending 175 or $185 for this watch. But no more. Seiko continues to inch up its prices without much improvement in specs and then expect us to shell out money because it’s a Seiko
@salvatoredidio94243 жыл бұрын
In Comparison to the older Seiko 5 Field Modells this is a improvemend in Build Quality, has a better Movement and a better Finish. Sure the price dropped around the 220/ So it's Not Bad and the only Competitors are Bulova Hack with less Water Resistant and Marathon with the mediocre Lume.

Never understood the field watch category. Divers, GMT, Chronographs have unique functions for their purpose. Is it the larger numbers for visibility on the battlefield that make it a field watch?
@axelcoker2423 жыл бұрын
Yup. That.
@Roughdraft2142 жыл бұрын
The main difference is their ease of legibility, but they were around before many of the other watches you mentioned. Before WW1 most men only had pocket watches and when the war started, soldiers were given standard issue watches, hence field watches so they could best synchronize missions. Pilots were given chronographs and divers came out later as water resistance ratings improved. Field watches are my favorite usually due to their simplicity, smaller size, and thinness but I also like their retro vibe.
