Bought one of these as a birthday gift to myself last week, so far it is great. Was looking for a cool field watch was looking at hamilton but when I saw this in person had to get it. I paid $275 after taxes, yes cheaper would be nice but still half the price of the Hamilton. I would prefer sapphire but the watch wears well and keeps really great time for me. The leather is also very soft and comfortable.

Yes, there are many models of this srpg Seiko, all of them are beautiful, 39 mm, but the lug width is ideal and it does not make the watch look smaller than it is. They have brought a wonderful old military design back to life. I think it is a great design and they have done as good a job as the Hamelton models.

Lumed numerals sure would look great but it's supposed to be a "military" watch, and thus should be as inconspicuous as possible. The triangle on the 12 position is for orientation, you can figure out the rest. Nevertheless a very nice watch!

Its a military style watch, low lume in the dark for stealth. Its normal not to have lume in the numbers. I don´t understand with so many people that like watches don´t get this?

I've got the regular stainless steel one & I love it. I popped that reflective single domed scratch magnet hardlex crap out & put in a nice flat piece of ar sapphire crystal. It's soon much better.

Which vendor for sapphire? Did u get a 1:1 exact bevel matched one and replace crystal gasket with water dry test? Looking too do the same but the crystal times seller doesn't have true 1:1 bevel matched.

This is the first KZbin review of this specific model that I'm aware of. Great job. I had this watch in my sights, and was kind of turned off by it when I saw it in person in a shop window. Like you say, great-looking watch, but.....

I think this review is spot on. I bought one (SRPG39) for just a smidge over $200 from a huge online retailer. I would have bought the Islander instead HOWEVER I am happy to be stuck with the Seiko. It's a nice piece.

I am wearing it, changing its strap to leather light brown natural color, looks great and easy to wear. Suitable on any occasion. Like it Judging from youtube review frequencies consider under rated.

it was less than $200 in our local ad. got the 27 and 35. love the dial on the 35 the most. got a bracelet for it. movement has been pretty accurate. love this watch. wish it was thinner though. wish it also had sapphire crystal. but thats seiko. cant have it all.

I don't agree with several things but won't mention them all. I don't agree with having more lume. It's a field watch..the wearer normally wouldn't want to be glowing like crazy in the dark. I certainly don't need to see the digits to tell time. Seiko knows what they are doing. If the price is too much, more lume would would just increase it. Maybe a field watch is not for you. I think the SRPG watches check all the boxes for its intended use and has beautiful character.

Before I watched this vid I didn’t care for the watch….but after seeing it, not shabby! Crystal distortion gets me every time though…it could be a total sh****r and I’d still be into it if there is crystal distortion. Fortunately still not my style so that saves me some cash😉. Great vid man!

The islander is not available outside the US, unless you are willing to pay exorbitant import duties. I have this particular Seiko and I love it, its accurate and the glass is really nice. agree that the glass should be sapphire though.

Hard to find another watch with the day date complication, if the 10ATM feature is wanted. Some Hamiltons have it, but they are way more expensive. Don't forget that a screwed down crown hat it's cons too: On this watch you can grab the crown und wind up the spring a bit, even without taking it off your wrist. Besides the fact that a screwed down crown always gives you the opportunity to screw it down wrongly, you'll always have to take the watch from your wrist, no matter what you want to do, even only winding it up a bit. What I miss is a word (or test) about the durability of the coating. Since scratches, if they unveil the silver steel beneath the coating, will become very obvious in an ugly way 😞 For those who want to be on the safe side, a SRPG27K1 or - better - SRPG37K1 and giving it away for getting a high quality coating - as DLC - could be an option. And once the watch is disassembled, replacing the crystal with a double domed sapphire with or without colored or clear AR coating is easy. For those who find this model isnt'n dark enough: Take a look at the *SRPJ09* but be aware that dark lume looses a lot of its capabilities.

I don’t agree with the pricing. If you look at actual retail price for SNK80x you’ll see they’re 195. But they’ve been in the market for so long that now you can get one for under 100. This will happen with these as well

I agree with your comments. I got it on sale, but it was still too much money. I'm going to enjoy it, but I don't feel thrilled by it. I was intrigued by the dark brown face. I'm thinking about putting it on a beige leather strap when this one wears out. I know, who cares?

I felt most of his issues with this watch were a bit weak. The illuminated numbers to me is not even an issue. His issue with the gunmetal color to me is also a non-issue. That color is exactly what drew me to the watch. If I want a SS watch then that’s what I would look for. The only 2 “disappointments” I would somewhat agree with is the absence of the screw down crown. But again who’s going to swim with there watch on? And lastly the price. Yes i would agree it should be cheaper.. maybe about $50 cheaper so no more than ~$225-245. But it’s his review so he’s entitled to his opinion and I like reviewers that are not afraid of giving me their dislikes in things so I do appreciate that. I think the watch is awesome as an everyday watch. Lots of character

I really dig the way the SRPG41 looks, but no illumination on the numbers is a NO-GO! For less than half the cost, the SNK381 has illuminated numbers. These new Seiko lines are demanding premium prices while giving you less features.
