Love this watch. Just got it in 2023. Gift from my father, I’ve been eying that watch in his collection for a while and he surprised me with it. Still brand new with all the packaging, booklets and warranty card. Purchased a 22mm Strapcode Jubilee band for dressier occasions.

I love the Tuna as well! I was also blessed with the opportunity to try it out as it was sent to me as well. I posted some photos in the group. That lume is amazing. I have the SKX, a Monster, and a Sumo and the Tuna blows them all away. One thing you forgot to mention regarding the movement is how accurate it is. Plus or minus 15 seconds a month! I've been looking at Grand Seikos too and I love the GMT Spring drive 43mm with the black ceramic bezel but I would be happy with several other models. The Tuna is definitely on my radar. That lume!

+Jeremy Corrao So true Jeremy. Accuracy is excellent, and that lume is insane. I absolutely love many of the GS models, and want to get one. I think you have to go Spring Drive. Its amazing even at the higher prices.

nice review man. Everyone should own a tuna once in their life... great time piece, ultimate analog diving tool. Anyway, I'm watching this after over a year you published it so not sure if you got your GS but if you haven't yet and still deciding, I vote for the snowflake. in my mind, if you are going for a GS, go all the way and get a spring drive... granted the hi-beat is nice too... ;)

Great video, nice work. I've got the poor man's sne497 tuna. It's great and sits well amongst my Oris Aquis watches. I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on the marine master. I bought the 497 just to get a feel. The quality feels as good as my Rado captain Cook. Just wish Seiko would get rid of that ridiculous divers extension on the 497. Also had it on a turtle. It's horrible. As far as Seiko watches go, tuna by a mile ahead of the rest, I agree.

+SirStamford27 Thanks, yeah I hear you. Sometimes I get too technical or overthink things trying to be realistic. In reality there should be no reason to sell the SKX. Does anyone have an issue where the bezel skips clicks between 11-6? Like 2 clicks becomes 1 :(
@tomsterr19048 жыл бұрын
Hi! I just bought this watch but I am confused about the size. I measured it. Without the crown the diameter is 44-45mm. With the crown it is like 47-48mm. It was smaller than I expected. I think I am little disappointed because I was expecting the diameter be like 47-48mm without the crown. I read so much about this watch and many reviews state that diameter is 48mm. BUT they didnt mention it is WITH the crown. Well it is a beautiful watch still. I am not sure what to do with it now.
@BruceWilliams8 жыл бұрын
Its the smallest wearing huge watch in the market!
@tomsterr19048 жыл бұрын
Sure is :). Compared to SUN019 this watch is like a little bird.
@tomsterr19048 жыл бұрын
One more addition. Okay the case can actually be 47,5mm if you measure it from the bottom. The shape of the tuna can is such that is wider at the bottom than in front. But if you measure it from front (like the bezel size only) --> it is like 44 mm.

Bruce excellent review as always. I think it's about time to add this to my collection. I love automatics but I don't mind spare a quality quartz movement. The sbbns should cost you right around $950 new at current exchange rates. Seiya has them for $966. Diashield is nice but will not make it scratch proof. I've owned 4 different watches that had it. I don't get too excited about it.

Geat review! Thanks. But as a fashion special agent (not the fashion police... fashion special agent), i must disagree.The Tuna looks great with a suit. Dress watches are nice... if you are wearing a DRESS. If you are wearing a suit... if you are a dude... you need a suit watch... you need a dude watch.You, a working man, needs his tools; and he needs a tool watch. He needs a diver. He needs a pilot watch. He needs a sports watch (whatever THAT is). So wear your suit. Be a dude. And WEAR THAT TUNA.

So is battery change going to be an issue?
@BruceWilliams8 жыл бұрын
+GEEKOUT! VINCENT KC3AFY No its pretty simple. If you live in Japan the AD does the first one for free. If your don't the change is simple (Just unscrewing the caseback and swapping batteries). I would take it to a watchmaker though just to get the seals checked. 5+ years is a quite a while and the gaskets could have been compromised by then.

I like my (new to me) SBBN007 with it's dings and a couple of marks on the crystal - can I justify a SBBN033 - well yeah I definitely want one but after just getting the SLA017 I might have to wait a bit. Great review. I especially like how you went into all about the movement, hich makes the Tuna feel a bit more special than your average quartz.
@911naimplate6 жыл бұрын
My only complaint is that the crystal scratches way too easily for such an expensive watch. No matter who owns one, if you wear it more than a handful of times, you will no doubt wind up with that trademark Marine Master light scratch somewhere around the 11 to 1 o'clock markings. It must be an inside joke with the Seiko boys because the problem exists on every Marine Master made. If you put a new crystal in, a few wearings later you will wind up with yet another scratch. Must be the Seiko watch gremlins. Other than that, I love mine!!!!!!
@braclo935 жыл бұрын
Wore mine for about a year and finally scratched it on the crystal at around the 8 o clock. Hard to find a sapphire replacement crystal for it too.

It's not solar .. so you would have to open the case back to change batteries. Then you would have to install a new lubed gasket and either hope you got it sealed up or spend money to have it pressure tested. Old school quartz tech. Solar's the present tech and inductive charging is the future. Case backs on divers are soon to be a thing of the past.
